This time, I was invited to another food tasting session by Estelle from Openrice again.

So the pick for today's food tasting was the burgers at FAT BOY'S - the burger bar.

The special thing about our visit this time was that we get to see how meat patties are prepared, and we even get down to make our own patties, with the choice of either beef or pork!

I was greeted to nacho chips with its appetizing tomato sauce,

To prepare the patty, the boss, Bernie said we had to drop the ball of meat hard onto the metal bowl, and knead it well enough so that the condiments and sauces are well mixed into the patty. Apparently, some people's patty wasn't very nice, and they suspect kneading was not enough. But please don't worry! All patties are prepared by the experienced chefs.

Now here's the food!

On top of my own beefpork patty (that I made myself), I added Fried Egg, Bacon, Sauteed Shitake Mushroom and Cheddar Cheese sandwiched between Honey Oat Bun, paired with Fatboy's Homemade BBQ sauce. It turned out very delicious! I am so proud of myself for coming out with something nice and edible. Hahaha.

So after the calculation, this well-sized burger will cost a humble $18.40 only! It comes with fries, lettuce and tomato with no additional charges. I give my votes to FatBoy's, hands down.

You know what, I really thought this burger was totally worth the price! You should be convinced by looking at how thick the beef patty is.

I do want to mention about the Honey Oat Bun as well. It's very soft and tender, and the surface of the bun is non-crispy like how usually fastfood restaurants' burger buns are. I could taste a hint of honey-sweetness in the bun as well, and I love it!

I opted for the Fatboy's homemade BBQ sauce because I wanted to try about something they have invented, or rather something they called it theirs. I didn't want to overcrowd the burger with different sauces and eventually confuse my tastebud, so I only chose one sauce.

And the result? Perfect!

The sauce carries a slight tangy savor which really appetize me as I dig into my huge beefpork patty.

I paired my burger with this bold-looking milkshake and you'll never guess what I have in here.

Strawberry milkshake + caramel + banana + oreo crush.
$9.30

Okay I admit ten bucks for a milkshake might surprised you a little. That's also because I added 3 different things into my milkshake. Again, you could customize your own milkshake!!!
If you could get something that could easily buy you over because the milkshake was so thick and generous, would you mind that amount? For me, it's a once-in-a-while indulgence that I wouldn't mind.

Look at the oreo crush on the milkshake, and the caramel sauce all over the cup.
The taste was very strong and thick. At my very first sip, I could taste the banana that was well blended into the strawberry milkshake. In fact, a bad thing is the banana taste has covered the strawberry.

About the place:
A pretty big sized restaurant without air-conditioning. But the fans have provided enough ventilation, so I thought it's fine! The place was a little crowded even at 3pm, so imagine its popularity.

I think this place is very friendly catered to big groups with the tables and seats at least 6 seaters.

Overall, FATBOY'S definitely serves delicious burgers at an affordable price. Or rather, every part of the burger is worth the penny! No kidding!

By now, you should know that you can customize your own burger with the comprehensive menu of items show here:

If you are quite a heavy eater and is able to complete one whole big burger, then the burgers here from FAT BOY'S will be able to delight you. I have tried their Fat Bastard Burger and immediately was impressed by the nice presentation and the big portion served to me. The beef patties are very juicy and tender. The burger buns are also quite soft and tasty. This is really yummy and I will definitely be back again to try other ranges of burgers from FAT BOY'S.

It was a rather impromptu friday night out and the angmokia and his male colleagues chose this place.. my god this is burger haven! lol! the menu is very interesting, let me explain: YOu have one page where u can order the burgers that they have designed and the other page is one where u can customise your own burgers according to the type of meat, type of bun, toppings such as tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, jalapenos... and sauce. I wanted to customise but there were just oo many choice i settled for the holy caeser.

1. Holy caeser($12) is abit like a grilled chicken caeser salad in a burger. The chicken was really huge n nicely grilled.. very tasty! and even though it is big i dont feel really guilty to eat it as it was not a patty of minced meat(with fats!) but rather a real chicken thigh meat. All burgers come with thick cut potatoes as well.. i couldnt eat it.. or rather.. was too guilty to eat it! Or it had a thick slice of bacon in it too.. which the angmokia happily added to his fat basta*d burger..

2. Cheese royale($12) is classic cheese burger.. as you can read from the menu.. lol

3. Fat Bast*rd is the really superbly sinful burger.. almost sacrilegious i must say! Even for the angmokia i think he felt abit too bad after that to have eaten it.. its double beef patty with bacon and fried eggs.. can u even imagine? It cost $18, the most expensive on the menu.. but i think if u compare it to other gourmet burgers places like handburgers or bergs this one is the most worth it.. but im not sure the cheap price is worth all that fat and colesterol.

$. The elvis is really a different animal on its own. I'm not sure how it taste but its a brown oat bun, with peanut butter, banana and a pork patty inside. Weird huh? It take a rather unique person to order it too. Lol. I didnt try this one but according to my friend he said 'it's something.. u guys shld try."

Im sure theres a next time. =)

It's really hard to get to eat at Fat Boy's. It is usually closed during office lunch hours and my close friends are super anti having burgers for dinner. You can imagine how thrilled I was when me & my colleagues saw it in operation during a weekday lunch.

True to its name, the burger joint adopted a rather clean, musculine, bar concept with options for a quick munch & go or a decent sit down meal. That's my other colleague from another department waving across a few tables away.

They have a comprehensive range of Speciality Burgers, chill out finger foods as well as sweet desserts for your selection.

If non of the speciality burgers suit your palate, you can also choose to create your own burger in just 4 simple steps!

As usual, I had my beer to go with lunch

My Swiss Shrooms was a sight to behold! Beautifully displayed with a proud Fat Boy's flag onto of the bun. They are not shy about their sesames, its all over the bun crown and bottom. The fries are of generous cuts, you will like them if you like wedges.

The interior of the buns are coated with butter and slightly toasted. Melted emmenthal cheese with garlic aioli hold the shitake mushrooms in place above the thick beef patty. The beef patty is a little dry for me but my 2 colleagues seem perfectly fine with theirs.

My colleague's Jamaican Me Hungry consist of jerk seasoned bacon stuffed pork patty with sundried tomatoes & chewy bacon. Sounds really sinful .... and delicious!

The final burger was an innovative 'Build Your Own Burger' not too sure what's the ingredients. But you will always love what your own creation, no matter what.

The waffles here is not too shabby but doubt one will have space for desserts after their main burger course. Unless... they are FAT BOYs.

Decent giant gourmet burgers, great for bros hangout. Definitely worth a visit if you are around the area.

My friend ordered this! chicken kebab! The chicken was good! not too hard, the spice and grilled was done to near or perfect! What i like about this was the whip potato! the mash potato taste great and clearly separate from other norm mash potato seen out there.

Overall, the meal was really good. The place is kinda small thus limited seats! So whoever wanna go there might just want to reach earlier to avoid disappoint of waiting.

Going there after work, I was surprised that majority of the diners are students! Anyway, it was quite packed so we were asked to be seated at the bar area first. But to save time, the waitress asked us to give them our order.

I chose the Mahalo. It has bacon stuffed pork patty, caramelised onions, grilled pineapple, melted emmenthal cheese sanwiched between a sesame seed bun. It also came with a generous serving of french fries. Drinking water was also available so I didn't need to order soda which was good. I'm on a diet right now so I stick to plain water whenever I am eating.

As for the burger, the portion was HUGE! It was so hard to bite so I had to really use a knife and fork. But what I like about their burger was that it was money well spent. They were very generous with the cheese, thick and tasty patty. Burger buns were also very soft and tasty. just the way i like it.

But of cos, i do work out once in a very blue moon.. so i can keep eating.. and blogging.... hahah eating being the primary..

Hmmm, i love to find reasons to literally PIG OUT, but seriously.. "pigging" out requires a certain level of fuss, you pick and chose what to eat carefully, it CANNOT be just another meal. It has to satisfy your cravings in terms of quantity and of cos QUALITY.

You see, the idea is to indulge in food that you get excited about and that you unknowingly "sigh" after every bite.... (BELIEVE ME, i m picturing my "sigh" now..*opens mouth, UMMmmmmm..sigghhhhh*)

So... i managed to find a reason to PIG out!! And that is on my dear manager's farewell dinner night.. I raised my hand up quickly during the dinner suggestion day in the office, like a suppppperrrr enthusiastic kid, i waved my hand frantically and shouted across the table,"I KNOW I KNOW, WE GO TO THOMSOM LA, EAT FATBOYS BURGER"
))))) So guess who won the suggestion round!! hahahahah

So on that fateful day, afraid that we (or rather "I") may not get any seats (since we can't get any reservations), we rushed down to FATBOYS burger joint after work, delighted as i can be, we managed to get seats

Than i started to look thru the menu closely (like as if i haven't been there enough to know exactly what i want). You see, the interesting thing about this place is not the fact that they sell burgers.. the most fascinating thing is that you get to CUSTOMIZE them!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So look at the menu below..*drools*, this is the customize-your-own burger menu!

I must say, once of the hardest thing to cook has got to be the burger patties, at FATBOYS, you get to choose how you want your patties done, so the chef has got to be like super PRO to be able to accommodate to the different choices of the customers. However, i like mine medium well and have tried burgers at many many places, sometimes its either too cook and dry, i hardly find once that is cooked to the way i want it. But... FATBOYS have got one of the nicest patties around (or maybe even the BEST i must say), they cook it just the way anyone wants it.

So here's how i customized my burger!!

Choice of Bun: White Sesame Bun

Choice of Patty: BEEF (they have chicken, pork, salmon and mutton too)

Add-ons:

BACON
FRIED EGG
SAUTEED MUSHROOMS
CARAMELIZED ONIONS
PICKLES
JALEPENOS
MOZZARELLA CHEESE

Sauce: Roasted Garlic Aioli (MUST TRY)

First of all, as i took a huge bite of my "ALIA's burger", i literally had to do a *slurp* on this juicy burger. The patty was darn nicely done, the patties were soft and tender, but yet it didn't break and drop all over(its irritating when it does, doesn't it). The piece of delicious meat is so full of the natural flavor, never ever once i ate it and it's overdone with the seasonings. So there you go.. *MMmmmmmm.....sighhhhhh...*

I love how the bacon adds a slight bit of crispiness to the super soft buns, and of cos, the fried eggs with the bursting egg yolk brings the whole experience to another level. A must have for me is also the choice of pickles and Jalepenos which adds a little tangy taste that makes the burger more appetizing than it should be. Lastly, the Roasted Garlic Aioli sauce is a MUST TRY, the texture of the sauce is so smooth and yet thick enough to how it should be. OMG again, this burger is worth getting FAT for.

And the best part of this place, if you only want beer and some snacks, you certainly gotta have some of the below.
