Shrooms Overload is a huge burger, with a sunny side up, mushroom, beef patty and fries! Very filling and satisfying! Not to mention the bacon as well!

As recommended by Lady Iron Chef, Hatched's berry pancakes are truly delicious. The pancakes were light and fluffy, sprinkled with icing sugar on top. The pancakes were served with lightly mashed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries) which were done very well and not too sour. Unlike some places, the pancakes came with a "free-flow" of maple syrup so that anyone can enjoy their pancakes however they like. With regards to the egg menu, I found Burly Benedict NOT worth the money as they served with VERY SALTY corndog (like those canned ones you can find in supermarkets). The salmon alternative was much better, where the salmon didnt smell too fishy. The poached eggs were done very well. What I truly enjoyed was the English muffin served in both dishes.

I recommend anyone to try their salmon egg benedict and their pancakes.

Scramble eggs are one of my favourite and i tried the beef pot pie today which comes with a large serving of SCRAMBLED eggs on top of the pie. The beef in the pie is tender and really delicious. Love how the sauce of the beef goes really well with the scrambled eggs which are creamy and oh so delicious! Like the concept of how Hatched serves salad at the side of this beef pot pie as it not only adds colour to the dish but help to ease the palate.

Hatched is know for selling a wide variety of differently cooked eggs such as the all so famous poached egg. Tried the egg Benedict which was really good. The dish came with a salad side and mash potato. The mash potato still had large pieces of potato in it and it went really nicely with the sauce. Love the way the poached eggs were done with the cooked whites and runny center. The sauce was also really good.

Sir Benedict $13
Mushroom sauce was drizzled over the mashed potato. It would have been better if the sauce was served hot as it seemed like it was left out in the open for some time. The poached egg met the mark. The runny egg yolk oozed out when the poached egg was cut open.

We also ordered a dessert of the week to try.

Blueberry Martini Trifle $8
Dessert was so-so only. It was a tad too sweet for my liking and I could not taste any hint of Martini. She finds it pretty good though.

Overall, it was quite a disappointment as I was expecting more after hearing how popular it is. Hatched is overrated in my opinion. There are definitely better brunch and all-day breakfast places around!

The Service
The waitress is polite and pleasant looking and smiled at me when she pass us the menu. The waiting time also acceptable as the food were served to me shortly.

The Ambience
The decor is quirky and the ambience is casual and relaxed hence is a good place to chilled out with a group of friends for coffee and breakfast/brunch.

The Price
The prices are mid range though it might seem a bit expensive for breakfast. I end up spending about $15-30 for the whole bill but at least the portions are decent sized.

Overall
I will definitely come back again to try other dishes and highly recommended to try this!

The place is really cozy, with wood furniture everywhere and romantic lighting. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, so it makes a really good impression. Even though some of our friends were late, they were not rushing us to make an order.

The menu is really gorgeous and cute, as shown in the picture. Written on it was “2012 catalog of eggs”, so I’m unsure whether in 2013 they will have another set of menu or not. If they do, I’ll definitely be ready to try.

My order was Sir Benedict’s, which is one of the signature dishes they have there. Not only did it look good, it tasted awesome. As I cut open my poached egg, I could only watch in awe as liquid golden yolk poured out. The bacon which came along with the dish was exceptionally delectable and crispy as well. Even the mash potato and the purple lettuce at the side were delicious. I almost licked the plate clean at the end of the meal.

My other friends had other dishes, and they were also all praises for the food. I love how they presented their food all so beautifully. Even now as I am typing this review, it makes my salivary glands excited.

The salmon was cooked really nicely as well, not overcooked and soft. The desert dish with the banana was really sweet, but very fragrant. A sweet tooth will definitely love it. Lastly, even the sandwich was great. “The best sandwich I had.” – As quoted from my friend.

All in all, a perfect place for hanging out, or having brunch with a few friends. Excellent food and service. A must try.

Hatched is just a short walk from the MRT station, walk from the exit towards Holland V Shopping Centre, and walk straight ahead (away from the shopping centre). You will pass by Starbucks, and walk ahead a little more pass OCBC and you’ll reach! It’s not very obvious, actually. There is no signs outside that says Hatched specifically, but when you reach a little cozy café you know that it is your destination.

My first impression of the décor was that it is very cute, homely and pretty! I was quite wowed by the interior design. Upon entering, a waitress came to ask me table for how many but my friends are already seated. The whole place is generally quite quiet and formal, and makes it a little embarrassing to take a photo of the whole restaurant. :/

My friends quickly showed me their very adorably decorated menu, but we were quite confused for a while on what to order because of the food names that did not really indicate what the food actually is. Luckily, there was a line of description below to say what the food includes. A few dishes had the option ‘just one’ or ‘do two’ (eggs).

The waitresses here appeared to be quite young, like around 20 years old. The head waitress is an older woman who is very professional and dealt with the customers’ requests promptly and efficiently.

The food arrived after a while. The presentation of the food was very classy and special, and immediately we think – “PHOTO TIME!”

I ordered a Bird’s Nest ($14++) – not the delicacy – but a burger with a double-yolk egg on it, with a few potato cubes strewn around. Within the burger was a few large slices of zucchini. My immediate thought was “High cholesterol!”, as I look at the double-yolk. I’m a fan of eggs, but definitely not two yolks at a go. Nevertheless, the glutton in me took over as I proceeded to eat everything up. If you have high cholesterol or don’t like yolks, don’t order this...okay in fact this is not a good option to eat at

I think it would be better if they’d put in the option of asking how well done the egg the customers would like. As far as my dining experiences go, most people have very different preferences on how they like their eggs to be – some like it yolky/gooey, others like it entirely cooked to the point that it is almost powdery, while the finicky likes it with a harder layer outside and the golden goo remains half-solid-half-liquid. Having this option would take their service and food to the next level since their specialty is eggs.

Anyway I’m not picky, as long as the egg is not raw I can eat it. They made the yolks quite gooey. I am definitely not a zucchini enthusiast or any veggies for that matter, and one bite on it made my skin crawl. It’s really beyond my acceptance level. I ate a few more slices and decided I really don’t like it, but there’s a lot more left, so I handed them out to my friends
The potatoes are surprisingly the highlight of the dish. Soft and flavourful. The way I like it.

Here are some other stuff my friends ate:

In general, the main course itself is around $14 to 20++. I would say that it is only worth it for the novelty but not for the food itself.

Overall, I think the attraction of the place is the presentation of the dishes and the way they market themselves, as well as the prompt service. The food is quite an extraordinary experience… and for that, I think once is enough.
