I followed my friends to this famous duck rice stall to have my lunch. It was located next to Hoover Rojak which was equally well-known as Liang Zhao Ji. I don't really like duck rice yet it really attracts me. I ordered $3.00 version of Duck Rice, no idea whether the plain rice soaked in the braising sauce or it was actually yam rice. The portion as okay, the duck was smooth and tender. The accompanying chilli sauce was very appetizing, slightly sour and spicy. continue reading

The FoodI ordered a plate of braised duck rice. The duck slices were tender and moist with the thick flavoured gravy that was poured all over the duck. The combination of both types of chili (a thin, slightly tart sauce and a thicker, fried chili paste) was an interesting mix and enhance the aroma of the duck rice. The ServiceAs I went during lunch hour hence need to queue around 20 mins and it was self-service.The AmbienceAlthough the stall is in a hawker center, i find that the place was well-ventilatedThe PriceReasonably priced at $3 per plateOverallI will definitely come back again and highly recommended to try this for all duck lovers ! continue reading

The tip to ordering the brasied duck from this very stall is to come early. This stall has got one of the longest queues in this food centre. If you come during their peak, the waiting time can be as long as 45 minutes. My regular order at this stall is half of the braised duck to take away. I like how they chopped up the braised duck into chunks pieces of duck meat. The texture of the braised duck was tender and juicy. A packet of braised sauce and chilli sauce are usually provided to go with the braised duck. The braised duck goes well with rice or noodle. continue reading

Expecting the dark-colored rice to be the traditional yam rice served in some braised duck stalls, I was slightly disappointed to find out that it was just white rice thoroughly coated with braised gravy. Nevertheless the rice was soft and savory. I enjoyed the delicious braised duck which was fleshy and tasty. The chilli paste, which was spicy mixed with a sourish tinge, didn't leave much of an impression.Although nowhere near the best of the braised duck rice that I have tasted, Liang Zhao Ji certainly has its fair share of fans who feel otherwise. Perhaps I should have tried its duck porridge instead. continue reading

The most popular duck rice in this hawker centre. There is always a constant queue starting from 11 am and it gets crazily long during the weekends. The longest that i ever queued was 40 minutes. During their super peak period, there are 2 person in the stall chopping the ducks but the demand is still larger than the supply thus explained the intense waiting time. The duck meats are pretty good, well braised and tender, they chopped the duck into big pieces and i do enjoy slowly eating the meat off the bone. Their sauce is a little groovy, and it went really well with the duck meat. I always kept the left over duck meat and sauce in the fridge, and i will cook some noodle the next day, then throw into the sauce then add in the duck meats. continue reading
