Noticed that there was a 1 for 1 promotion for Singtel users for Shihlin's Sweet Plum Potato Fries. Despite this branch opening at Woodlands Xchange near Causeway Point quite a while ago, I have not tried their food yet, so naturally I did not pass up the chance to give this kiosk a try. This is probably the only kiosk at Woodlands Xchange and Causeway Point where the staff actually wear masks. Kudos for making the effort to look neat and keep things hygienic! Despite being small, they were quite efficient with taking and preparing the orders. Items were prepared on the spot so there was a wait for it, but it didn't take long.I got the Crispy Floss Egg Crepe and the Sweet Plum Potato Fries with the "1 For 1 promotion to share with the family.Sweet Plum Potato Fries ($2.80)These were fried on the spot when I ordered so they were piping hot and had a really strong, sweet aroma wafting from the carrier bag, tempting me all the way home! The sweet potatoes were cut into thick sticks like french fries before being battered, fried and sprinkled with plum powder. The outside was crispy while the sweet potato inside was still quite soft. I liked the batter, although my mum commented that it wasn't crispy enough for her. At first, I was expecting the fries to be quite sour due to the plum powder, but true to its name, it was sweet instead! Crispy Floss Egg Crepe ($3.50)This crepe was cut into 6 pieces, which made it great for sharing! The panfried egg topped with spring onion crepe was very smooth and just slightly crispy on the surface. Despite its name (and product description), I found the floss to be soft instead of crispy. Portion of floss was not generous either; two of the pieces barely had any floss in it. However, the middle pieces, where most of the floss were centered in, were delicious when eaten as a whole! It was sweet with the additional sauce boosting the sweetness up a notch. Would be even better with more, evenly spread floss on the other pieces! Overall, I found the food to be quite decent and I'm particularly keen to try the other crepes in future. The prices were quite okay for me considering the crepe was big, but it would be nice to have bigger portion when it comes to the filling. For Singtel users, definitely worth to get the Sweet Plum Potato Fries now! continue reading
