Chanced upon a Groupon voucher to have a 3-course dinner for 39++. The deal comes with starter, main course and dessert. I choose their lobster bisque which was a lovely seafood-y taste. The soup had bits of lobster which was really nice. It's not too thick which was what I liked. Hubby chose Foie Gras which was nice and all. But the slice of liver over a small toast couldn't compare in size to a large plate of lobster bisque. Hubby pouted as I happily drank my soup!We all ordered the overnight braised beef cheeks and it was melt-in-your-mouth tasty! The rather-thick piece of meat sat over a bed of mash potatoes. Very very good. Dessert was lemon lime sorbet. Very artistically put together and tasty quite good. The small berries were just way too tart. The service was very attentive but that's because there was really no much patrons at the restaurant. With the right vouchers, I'll come back again! continue reading

During a recent staycation at Amara, we were also entitled to the Breakfast Buffet at Amara. To be really honest, the buffet wasn't fantastic. I had expected a wider range of food but alas, it was the usual stuffs. Surprisingly, one of the things i enjoyed has to be the Ginseng Porridge. It wasn't overpowering. The taste was pretty mild and tastes good with the accompanying peanuts and anchovies. The ambience of the place was really great though (we chose the outdoor seats) and really felt like it was a holiday elsewhere but not in SG! continue reading

Shutters is an elegant all day restaurant serving contemporary Asian and Western dishes. The interior is quite spacious. And there is a chef counter where you can observe the chef displaying their cooking skills! The menu is short and simple. Despite having a lack of variety in the menu, every dish is unique and made to perfection!Firstly, 3 types of bread being served- The Kalamata Olive , Onion roll and Sesame Crisp. The bread rolls were served warm! (my favourite!) The bread is crusty on the outside and is soft on the inside. Had Chilli Crab Gratin for the mains. It is fresh crabmeat & roe that is served in a crab shell, topped with calamansi Hollandaise sauce and a side Frisee salad. This is the typical taste of Singapore Chilli Crab. The modified it by adding fresh carbmeat. It is an innovative attempt. The crabmeat is indeed very fresh and chilli is well-balanced. Thumbs up!!! DDHad the dessert after that. The chocolate was rich and not too sweet. Another thumbs up!! continue reading
