Tandoori Restaurant is a North Indian Restaurant located prominently beside the entrance of Mustafa Shopping Centre at Serangoon Plaza. It is more known to be restaurant for tourists compare to the locals. However based on Little Devil's recommendation, we popped by for lunch here.To start the meal, we were served free of charge appetizer of Papadam with green colour sauce. The sauce has a light peppermint flavour, later on I found out the sauce is one of their specialty chutneys. Lamb Chop Kebab ($24.90) - In a tradition of North Indian food, Tandoori or kebab will normally be serve as entrée. The lamb chop is well seasoned as you can taste the flavours inside through the meat of the lamb. Unfortunately, the seasoning does not help to tenderise the meat, it is though and chewy although we ate the the lamb chop while its hot. It should be called mutton chop instead.Butter Chicken ($17) and Palak Panner ($12.90) to accompany our Basmanti Rice ($2.75) and Naan ($3). The butter chicken is creamy, rich and the chicken meat is tender. The gravy is just perfect to accompany the rice. The Palak Paneer is thick, not blend to total smoothness, while the cheese provide a more condensed texture. It feels nice and healthy . How to judge if the food is good? Basically I finished 3/4 of the rice served and LD is enjoying her Naan with the dishes above. The naan is fluffy and moist. The restaurant is very spacious and there is buffet during breakfast, lunch or dinner. We were there after 2pm, and not many customers around. The service is attentive and friendly. Pricing wise, it is more expensive that other North Indian Restaurant that we've been while the servings size quite similar. Overall, Tandoori Restaurant provide a delicious North Indian food. Skip the “Lamb Chop” focus on other dishes. If you decided to take a break from shopping in Mustafa or nearby the location, do give this place a try. My friend was craving for Indian food. So i google searching for nice reviews on any indian restaurant in town. We are not a fan to indian cuisine thus little research need to be done before we choose the right one to try.On another hand, she was pregnant with the second child. Thus, explain to her craving on Indian food. We decided to try Tandoori Restaurant at Serangoon Plaza. It is a walking distance from exit H from Farrer Park MRT station. So it wasn't hard to find. The staffs are attentive to us as the whole restaurant was only occupied by 2-3 tables only. They are prompt to our request and the foods are served withing 15 minutes.Tandoori Chicken (Quarter) S$9.90Spring chicken marinate with the spices and cream and grilled in clay oven. Thus explain the fragrance of the tandoori chicken when it is served. The outer layer of the chicken was nicely grilled and the texture of the meat is tender and smooth. I don't really like the taste of the green sauce. So i prefer the original taste of the chicken.Cheese Naan S$5.50 per pc (slice into 4 pieces). It is home-made cheese and mozzarella cheese stuffed in the bread. You can taste the strong taste of the cheese. I am not a cheese lover so i don't really enjoyed it. But my friend tasted it and love it instantly.& Garlic Naan S$ 3.50 (Slice into 2 pieces). Leavened bread with garlic which i personally love it very much.Naan is best to go with butter chicken. Butter Chicken S$ 17.00.The butter chicken is marinated chicken cooked in thick, rich, creamy gravy.Superb taste! It is not spicy at all. Not to mention the texture of the chicken. It is tender and chewy to enjoy. However, the price is quite pricey for the portion given. continue reading

I would think eating authentic Indian food is best to go with Indian. My friend’s husband is from North India and he cooks well. Their whole family visited me shortly for 2 days only. On the first day we settled our meals at McD as their kids didn’t adapt to local food or pasta. The 2nd day, we, adults have enough burgers and fries, we decided to have North Indian food at Little India. This restaurant was recommended by an North Indian working at Mustafa. It wasn’t many patrons when we entered the restaurant at 1+pm. Subsequently there were other diners came in. It is a spacious restaurant, we chose a corner table. We took our sweet time to place order, they have never chase us. First of all, I noted that they serve bottle mineral water instead of open jar of water, it feels cleanliness.I hardly take Indian food but I like naan so much, I can eat it plain without any accompanied dishes. My friend’s hubby ordered few dishes and the best was they were not spicy, it could be kids around so they chose non spicy dishes. I could see kids were enjoying their food so much, they ate them happily with their hands.Fish with deep red sauce was great, it was their son’s flavourite dish, fish meat was firm and it blended very well with the sauce, it didn’t taste any fishy smell. Paneer(Indian cheese) with orange colour sauce, cauliflower with yellowish spices, chick peas with deeper orange colour sauce, they all tasted great, each of them has their distinct flavour though, sorry for their missing names as I didn’t read the menu. After tasting all the warm dishes with freshly baked naans, the yoghurt was a refreshing one. It has a strong milky taste and it blended very well with cucumber. The only draw of the meal was the mango blend, other than sweet I could taste, mango taste was hardly found. It could skip this next time. When we stepped out of the restaurant, they greeted us thank you, it was a good gesture. continue reading
