Today was quite lucky as not much queue here in the evening.  The stall is quit big and the staffs here are quite friendly.  Have bought their big chicken pau to try and at $1.80 each is quite expensive.  The pau skin is firm and not too dry.  The chicken meat is tender and quite juicy. Inside the pau is quite moist so not that difficult to swallow.    continue reading

This is my favorite Big chicken pau ($1.50). The bao skin is soft and smooth.. the chicken filling is very tender and juicy. As for their cha siew bao is not bad too, but the cha siew is not juicy enough. Sometimes I would order their fried item like their carrot cake.. The fried carrot cake taste good... As for their siew mai is big but have strong pork taste. I don't really like it. continue reading

As usual there is a long queue at this outlet. But with about 5 staffs working, the queue actually moves quite fast. The phoenix puff which costs $0.90 a pop is my favourite from this place. I like meat and egg still juicy inside. One also cannot forget about the various paus from the place too. The all time favourite is the big pau which is meaty and juicy, and best of the meat is not fatty at all. It costs $1.80 a piece. For the sweet tooth, there is the red bean paste pau which costs $0.90. The paste is quite smooth. If one want to have something filling, there is Fan Choi which costs $1.80 a packet. There char siew, egg and Chinese sausage on top of rice. Despite being steamed, the rice is still firm and not mushy at all which shows great skill in cooking. Overall this pau stall offers quite tasty takeaway food. continue reading

Had always wanted to try the paus from this shop as there’s always a queue (being Singaporean, if there’s a queue, it means good food, right ) Bought a red bean pau ($0.70) late afternoon for tea break and boy was I disappointed… Firstly, the pau wasn’t hot at all (warm at best) even though it was freshly taken out from the giant steamer, lack of quality control perhaps?Next, the pau was rather hard and not the soft fluffy type as I had expected. The only saving grace was the red bean paste which I found was smooth and creamy, unlike the normal pasty type. The pau was also rather small and definitely not worth the price. Even paus sold at 7-11 tasted better and more value for money!Perhaps I caught them at the wrong time, or perhaps it was really all hype. Nevertheless, I’m still willing to give it another chance and try out their more famous pork filling pau the next time round since it’s just located next to my office building.Till next time… continue reading

Tiong Bahru Pau is a great place to go if you love paus.I am a pau lover too, I love char siew pau and other paus very much...Here's a picture of a Char Siew Pau and Malay kueh from Tiong Bahru Pau!The price of the pau is not very expensive, it costs me about 80cents per char siew pau,and same goes to the Malay kueh!(FYI the size of the Malay kueh is way bigger than this, I cut it smaller so that I can eat it easily )Rated: 9/10The char siew sauce is AMAZING!!Not too sweet, not too salty. Creamy and thick!Taste extremely good when you take a bite!!You'll never stop craving for MORE char siew paus!!!! Trust me!! The Malay kueh was quite sweet, texture was good, and it was spongy!!Quite nice too!!!! GOOD SERVICE, Clean environment. The shop is quite crowded after office hour WILL COME BACK TO BUY MORE CHAR SIEW BAOS!!! continue reading
