Cream Puff That Make You Feel Like In Heaven
Smile 2011-10-14
Beard Papa Sweets ( Telok Blangah )
I first tasted Beard Papa's when I was in my Secondary School days when Beard Papa's was a big hit in the Takashimaya basement outlet. Back then, I liked it but didn't really know how to appreciate it - just like how I misread Beard Papa's as Bread Papa's back then. A few days back, I walked pass and decided to grab a box home. A box comes in 6 flavours, buy 5 get 1 free at $12. There are only 2 flavours: chocolate and vanilla.

The cream custard inside is so rich and filling that make it very heavenly and peak up one's spirit. This cream puff is an excellent choice for high tea! Even when you stall it in the fridge for a day, it still taste so perfect with the outer layer still puffy.

After having such an awesome cream puff I went to google it and found out that there's actually more flavour in other countries - coffee, green tea, pumpkin, earl grey tea and strawberry. If only the Singapore franchise outlet has more flavours...

Nonetheless, contented with the 2 original flavours!

Sunny Pizza
Smile 2011-10-14
Domino's Pizza ( Bedok )
I was feeling kind of lazy and didn't want to battle the traffic, so I ordered the Domino's Pizza for dinner.

Recently, they have this promotion going on in line with the celebration of Deepavali. There's this 2 large pizza for $38 which kind of suit us and with that it comes with free Breadstix & Twisty Bread.

And if you are not please with your pizza...

There's a pretty good branding move, and you can risk trying out Domino's Pizza now!

Half & half - Classified Chicken and Customize Classified Chicken - change the mushroom to pineapple, chicken to prawn.

Hawaiian Pizza

When I opened the box, I just felt this happy adrenaline as the pizza look so sunny - so nicely bake! The pizza taste really great especially when it is piping hot. I prefer the half and half over the Hawaiian pizza.

Didn't really try the Breadstix as I was so happily indulging the pizza!

What I love about Domino's Pizza is the prompt delivery and the GPS tracking. On top of that it is their fresh and generous ingredients spread - the pineapple is sweet and you get enough meat on the pizza. And the dough of the pizza is just right, not too thick which make you very filling.

Check out the current promotions and have your lazy meal with Domino's Pizza!

2nd Visit: Still Very Impressive
Smile 2011-10-14
Flavvors The Oriental Cafe ( Toa Payoh )
I was craving for curry fish head and so I went back to Flavvors which left me a very deep impression. But this time round when I stepped in, it was kind of different! They now have the Dim Sum Buffet from 3pm - 5pm weekdays and 8am - 10.30am, 3pm - 5pm on weekends. And there's Lok Lok buffet from 8pm - 10.30pm, not sure if they have it on weekends.

Their Lok Lok can be eaten 2 ways, one the deep fried version, the other one is the boil type. There are various sauces for your selection too! Having been a Lok Lok fan, we bought a few sticks to try it out.

   Bad!

It is definitely not the JB Lok Lok kind but close, just that they didn't add seasoning on top of the ingredients before deep frying.

Can't wait to try out their Dim Sum Buffet!

Apparently the promotion has ended for the curry fish head. Still it didn't deterred us from having it, I even took away for my family.

Curry Fish Head $18.90

After a long day, this curry is one that will cheer you up. When you have one mouthful, it just melt in your mouth and emerge this happiness feeling. It just warm you up and there's this little comfort as the curry is not too overly spicy. What's more the fish is real fresh!

Cereal Squid $9.80

I discovered another new dish on the menu! This cereal squid is great too, the cereal with a pinch of chili padi blend very well with the squid! The squid is large and very chewy like rubber. For $9.80, the portion is good enough for 4!

Service was excellent, the waitress was very polite and she recommended quite a lot. Not only that, they value feedback and even opened the door when you are leaving.

Will be back for their Dim Sum Buffet!

Cafe by The Pool
Smile 2011-10-12
Tinge of Blue Cafe & Bar ( Telok Blangah )
Check it out this cafe by the pool called Tinge of Blue! This cafe just opened it's door this September and you can expect quite a lot.

It is very spacious, and because it is located by the pool without any lights the cafe is bright enough and it is kind of comfortable. Can you imagine spotting maybe a couple of stars when the night comes in the sky? I think it probably is romantic by the night. This can be a place for some romance, so keep this place in mind!

As for the menu, there's not much creative dishes in the menu but you can expect the usual dishes found in Western restaurant like Fish & Chips. Okay, there are burgers but it sound kind of weird to me. But their pizza menu will cheer you up a little so it is like a little of Swensens and a little of Pizza Hut here at Tinge of Blue.

Marshmallow Latte $4.90

In such an environment I got to ordered some coffee to warm myself a little and be absorbed in such a wonderful environment. The Marshmallow Latte sure make me remember this cafe as this is my very first Marshmallow Latte.

Wild Mushroom Soup $5.50

I still prefer the clear mushroom soup but rich enough, this one here is thick with too much starch that make you feel kind of full.

TOB Chicken Wing with Fries $7.90

We ordered something to start so that we had something to chew on while waiting for the mains to arrive. My sis wanted fries while her boyfriend wanted chicken wings and so this dish please them. I was so happily indulging with the fries until my Fish and Chips arrived served with fries! I kind of forgot my Fish & Chips comes with fries! Which mean more fries for me but with the big portion on the plate, I wasn't over the moon. The fries was okay but slightly too oily.

Fish & Chips $15.90

When the Fish & Chips came, I was like "wow, what a nice presentation", it was kind of like dining at a fine dining restaurant. Ended up I put some fries into the TOB plate for my sis and her boyfriend to share as I couldn't even finish the fish & chips needless to say the fries. The portion is kind of generous but after drinking the soup I was at my limit. The fish & chips is quite good, evenly batter, it is crispy and the tartar sauce goes well with it. The coleslaw is great too!

Chargrill Chicken $14.90

I had a mouthful of the chicken and it was so so so good! And in fact, I would like to trade my Fish & Chips with the Chargrill Chicken. The fish & chips taste good but this Chargrill Chicken taste better!

Linguine Bacon Carbonara $16.90

My sis's boyfriend felt that it was too cheesy for him and because of the big portion. By the time he finished it, he felt like vomiting

Service here is quite tip-top, the waitress is very prompt in refilling up the glass of water and overall they are pretty proactive and alert.

I just felt that they can lower down the price a little by scaling down the portion so that they can be a hit cafe in time to comes. By doing so, one can try out more dishes like the pizza which we didn't have the chance to try as we were too full.

Wet Ipoh Hor Fun
Smile 2011-10-07
Zhuang Jia ( Bedok )

I like this stall Ipoh Hor Fun because they give a lot of sauce to it and it make it very very delicious. The sauce taste sour and sweet and with the added green chili - it is sour sweet!

It taste quite similar like the mee sua, just that it is without the oyster. The chicken size is just right, not too chunky.

The auntie at this stall is friendly and is very polite which make it a very good experience eating from this stall.

Curry Noodle, Best Curry!
Smile 2011-10-07
Chicken Rice - The Food Mall ( Yishun )
The curry here is really really good! It is very solid - very curry like and it is thick with the right pinch of spiciness. I suppose it is the Nonya Curry type.

For a curry noodle, I did expect the curry to be a little lighter to suit the noodle but this one is real strong. You know those curry that you dip it with bread? Yes, this is the type. To pair with the noodle is kind of wrong as it is too much for one to intake such a big portion for a meal.

If the stall pair it with bread then that will be perfect as their curry is real good! And they really give good portion of chicken and big potatoes.

My mum love the curry so much that she said she will buy it next time to dip with the bread.

Below Average Bak Kut Teh
Cries 2011-10-07
Pig Organ Soup - The Food Mall ( Yishun )
My mum decided to have Bak Kut Teh and she chanced upon this stall. So she bought back for dinner.

   Bad!

Immediately, I had a sip of it and that's it. The Bak Kut Teh is rather bland, not really the authentic Bak Kut Teh.

My mum too felt it wasn't nice, rather plain and it is definitely not value for money. I think if you go to the supermarket and buy the instant pack Bak Kut Teh soup ingredients and boil, it definitely taste better than that.

Nice Minced Meat Noodle
Smile 2011-10-07
Gu Zao Mian Minced Meat Noodle - S11 Food House ( Yishun )

This Minced Meat Noodle is quite special, the only stall that has this giant meat ball that is so delicious!

When I opened the take away box the strong vinegar smell filled the kitchen and attracted my sis over. She wanted to taste one mouthful of my share and she regret not calling me to buy her share.

Even though I am not a meat lover, I have to say their meat ball is real good! And the fried dumpling is fantastic too. The noodle taste just as good with the added condiments nicely mixed!

My Favourite: Teriyaki Chicken
Smile 2011-10-07
Subway ( Somerset )
These day it is not so difficult to consume a healthy meal. With so many fast food chains entering, do you go for the fanciful want or the long standing one or the healthier choice one?

What I like about Subway is that it is not oily and for the price of $6+ you are guilty free.

Unlike most of the fast food, Subway meal always give you the satisfaction - you feel very bloated after having it.

And at Subway, you won't get sick of it as there are different sauces that you can try out during every visit. Also, different kind of bread give you different kind of texture.

Your choice doesn't end with the sandwich, you can pick your favourite cookies too! smile The cookies at Subway is always very soft.

It is all about choice here at Subway, it is all about you - having what you like!

Shark Fin Hor Fun!
Smile 2011-10-07
Seafood Kimly - Yun Tong Coffee Express Cafe 2000 ( Hougang )
Recently while I was watching Sizzling Woks 3, this shark fin hor fun they recommended kept appearing in my mind so I insisted of having it.

And here I am! If you drive here, be prepared to have a battle in the car park! This coffee shop is too popular that the car park is too overly subscribe. When you enter the cash card system in the car park your car is trap. Cars are waiting everywhere in look for a slot and this prevent car from moving in as the car park is too narrow to navigate. Then when one car need to move out 3 cars need to reverse and make way. Lucky us, we just waited at the right spot that just nice the car is moving out. Thus, if you are here and driving, you might want to park else where.

When we stepped in to the coffee shop, oh my! It was so crowded, not only the zi char stall is famous, look like most of the stalls at this particular coffee shop has their own fans. We waited for awhile to get a seat for 2 as the zi char stall has limited seating.

We ordered 2 of the dishes that were recommended on Sizzling Woks and 1 all time favourite.

Shark Fin Hor Fun $12

When this dish came, I couldn't wait to dig in! Their hor fun is very smooth and the sauce is slightly sweeter. I just felt that for $12, the portion is only good enough for 1. But once in a while, it is okay to spoil yourself with it!

Kang Kong $7

The Kang Kong is sure to satisfy those chili lovers! The cook sure hold no mercy when it comes to adding the sambal chili! Not only did the cook add sambal chili, he added a pinch of ikan bilis too. This Kang Kong is sure one that is hot but no worry the spicy level is still within the comfort level.

Phoenix Balls $10

The Phoenix Balls comes in 6, taste wise is kind of like BBQ sauce on top of the prawns. We just couldn't stop eating it, it is juicy and the taste just linger in your mouth. A MUST HAVE!

Overall, we still felt kind of hungry due to the portion of the food. If you are here, order the medium or big portion to satisfy your hunger. A pretty good Zi Char stall!

Horlick Shake
Just OK 2011-10-05
McDonald's ( Yishun )

After enjoying the Horlicks McFlurry, I wanted to have it again but I saw this Horlicks shake so I opted for it instead of ordering Horlicks McFlurry.

The Horlicks shake taste like soya bean, not very Horlicks tasting. I rather have the Horlicks McFlurry! Kind of regretting it but well, if you never try, you never know.

So now I know, best to stick with the Horlicks McFlurry.

I did expect better from a kiosk...
Cries 2011-10-05
Ho Kee Pau ( Yishun )
Although it is a dim sum kiosk and not a dim sum restaurant but I did expect something better!

The dim sum here is just not about taste but more on the appearance - the appearance look good and is appealing but the taste just can't make it.

   Bad!

   Bad!

   Bad!

By the pictures it look nice but it is the opposite.

The wrap chicken is too meaty, not marinated nicely.

The vegetable bao is not flavoursome at all.

Worst of all is the custard fried bun, the custard inside already cool off and it taste yucky. It is as though you are eating the dough.

And the total was $9.50, I rather spent it at some nice dim sum restaurant.

5/5 Duck Rice!
Smile 2011-10-05
Chuan Kee ( Yishun )
I'm really in love with this stall!

This stall nail everything right from the rice, boneless duck, soup and chili sauce. It is definitely an A star duck rice stall.

The rice is soak with the rich fragrance.
The boneless duck with the generous sauce on top just can't make people stop eating - it is just so delicious.
The soup I don't know how to describe it but it is just so refreshing, sweet and nice.
The chili sauce is different too, it is a mixture of a sambal chili with sweet thai chili. This combination make it spicy yet sweet.
The soup is so nice that he even asked for a refill. Yes, the soup can be refill!

A truly 5 out of 5 duck rice stall!

Just OK 2011-10-05
Kuai Le ( Yishun )

This is my second time drinking Lou Han Guo and it is very drastically different from the first time I first tasted it.

It tasted more like a beer to me. This Lou Han Guo is kind of weird tasting, kind of regret ordering the large cup.

Still, I will still patronize this stall as the auntie and uncle at this stall is real friendly. I just felt very welcome by them.

100% Fresh Juice

Mr Avocado Exotic Fruit Juice ( Bukit Merah )

If you really want to have a 100% fresh juice, this is the stall! The fruits they use is very fresh, you just know there's quality in it.

No sugar or salt is needed as by nature the juice already taste that sweet and good! You can even chew some bites of the fruit in the juice.

My honeydew juice is really that nice, the nicer honeydew juice I ever had! Normally when I bought honeydew juice, most of the time it tasted very diluted unlike this stall. And in such a big glass, the honeydew juice still taste so sweet!

I am very please with this stall.
