Forlino ( Marina Bay )
I'd grade this restaurant 7.5 out of 10 points overall. The crab salad was the best among all dishes. The Foie GRAS was ok, 有點煎得不夠香。Mushroom soup was great, but no surprise. The Wagyu cheeks was like 炆牛腩(Chinese beef stew). The Pork Flank was slightly overcooked and dry. Black cod pasta was quite unique cuz they put the fish inside the pasta(like ravioli with fish fillings). The mushroom risotto could be even better if we didn't have the mushroom soup, too much alike. Chocolate lava cake with the hazelnut ice-cream was not dripping enough(inside is not hot enough). For drinks, we have a bottle of sparkling water and a bottle of red, Chianti, Querciabella from 1998. The wine was awesome for the evening.

Forest Dew Vegetarian Restaurant ( Bendemeer )
This is a very nice inexpensive vegetarian restaurant located in Boon Keng MRT area. Their curry basil fried rice is exceptionally good that I ordered 3 times in a role, while I have visited them about 5 times with my colleagues.

The fishpaste noodle soup is also very good, it's homemade there.

Note: during weekdays, they offered special set lunch combination. I personally found it pretty good deal and the portion is huge, relatively speaking.

Inexpensive and delicious chicken rice in SG
Smile 2011-09-08

Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice ( Raffles Place )
TianTian is one of the most famous chicken rice place in SG, and their chicken is amazingly tender and juicy. However, either lunch or dinner time, you may prepare at least 15~25mins waiting in queer. And, they usually run out of chicken before 7pm; therefore, please plan to go there early if you don't want to miss.

Note: since it's located in a hawker center, you could get all different types of food there at the same place.

Miharu ( Mohammed Sultan )
After traveling around Asian countries and trying different JP ramen from countries like JP, HK, TW, SG, China and Korea. I do not find this ramen restaurant any special, compared to different ramen places in SG. The food quality is not bad, and the soup (the soul of ramen) is cooked with good ingredients.

Please get your GPS and precise address when you decide to go there because it's not easy to locate the shop.

Crabs in heaven
Smile 2011-09-08

Eng Seng Restaurant ( Joo Chiat )
Speaking of eating crabs in SG, some may suggest Long Beach, Jumbo or No Signboard typically for sitting comfort and ambiance consideration, in my opinion. If you don't mind to eat in a place that has no air con, then I'd suggest Eng Seng because you paid less for more, comparing to other name brand restaurants.

Note:
1. They serve AT LEAST two crabs for each order; therefore, it's better to have a larger group to go there. However, if you're crabs lover, then two of you are okey too, like me =P.

2. During Fri or Sat evening, please call them in advance to reserve your crabs, although you still need to queer up waiting for your table. No table reservation can be made; thus, just get there as early as 5pm. Don't be surprised if you see a full house there at 5pm on Sat.

After dinner, then you could walk across the street to have the "King of all fruits", the durians.

Asia Grand Restaurant ( City Hall )
Everybody talk about Crystal Jade serves one of the best dimsum in town, and I totally agree. However, if you want to lower your budget a little bit, I'd highly recommend Asia Grand. For the price that you paid with the food quality that they serve, it's worth to give it a try. However, I found that their dimsum variety is not as fancy as Crystal Jade though. Speaking of dinner, they also serve good seafood too, although I only trice once.

Pepper based bak kut teh
Smile 2011-08-11

Ng Ah Sio Bak Kut Teh ( Little India )
If you want to have the full selection of their Bak Kut Teh, please come before 12:30pm because many of their spareribs variety will be sold out by 1:30pm (happened 3 times to me during weekends).

As many of you know that they are usually two different styles of bak kut teh being "潮洲" or "馬拉". They are just different, but personally I prefer the "馬拉" style better because they usually put more Chinese herbs instead of white pepper.

If you happened to visit Ng Ah Sio, you may consider to order one bowl of bak kut teh to share with 2 persons depending on how much you like it because all the soup can be refilled for FREE. Therefore, please make use of it.

Yet Con Chicken Rice & Restaurant ( Bugis )
According to some travel magazines, 逸群 chicken rice was the VERY FIRST chicken rice restaurant in Singapore ~50 years ago. However, I personally found the chicken quality is not as juicy as it should be, comparing to other famous chicken rice places. If you are new to Singapore, or you're a tourist, you should visit there to give it a try. Perhaps, my previous experience was just bad luck >_<. The price was very reasonable, and the location should be easy to locate. It's right by the Raffle Hotel.

Good quality of dimsum
Smile 2011-08-11

Crystal Jade Korean Ginseng Chicken & BBQ ( Orchard )
Speaking of Hong Kong dimsum, Crystal Jade is still considered as one of the best that I have encountered so far, although some people may comment they are a bit overprice. The dimsum variety there was not impressive, comparing to what we have in HK =P; however, speaking of the quality of their selections is very competitive to many HK restaurants.

One of my favorite JP places in SG
Smile 2011-08-11

Matsuo Sushi Restaurant ( Thomson )
Matsuo is indeed one of my favorite sushi places in SG. According to the Matsuo-san, all fishes are imported from JP (hope that didn't bother you much) every Tues and Fri. Therefore, make your own judgement to decide when will be the best time to visit them ^_^. The sashimi there is indeed authentic and fresh, and you could definitely could feel the freshness and crunchiness when you taste them. However, their sake selection is indeed week, and they usually promote their self-imported type of sake meaning they could probably make more profit by selling that, rather than those Manju or Hakasan.

Note that I didn't comment on their price because I am willing to pay more for the quality because I buy the concept of "nothing comes cheap for good sashimi". =P

As usual, the owner will usually reserve (or block) those seats close to the boss (Matsuo-san) for their VIP. If you're less VIP there, then don't need to ask for those sushi bar seats in the front. Otherwise, they may escort you to the sushi bar further down close to the kitchen and restroom. (then, you know if you're the VIP there or not.)

Have a pleasant experience in Matsuo!!
