Coffee wtith Grandpa!

Lai Lai Beer & Coffee ( Ang Mo Kio )

I always enjoy going out for breakfast with Grandpa.

Ordered our usual coffees from this regular stall. Grandpa always made the order, he said to the kopi aunties, '1 kopi gao and 1 kopi o kosong'. The kopi gao is for me and the kopi o kosong is for him.

We love the coffee from this tall. The sweetness is just right with the right level of milky taste and distinct coffee taste and aroma. And, this is what got us to keep coming back. This is definitely one of the nicest coffee around. Highly recommended.

Wanton Mee!
Smile 2011-04-07
Ming Xiang Roasted Chicken Rice.Wanton Mee ( Ang Mo Kio )

This is definitely one of the good value wanton mee stalls around. Most stalls are already selling theirs at $3.00 and this stall is still selling it at $2.50. Portion is generous with quite a few big pieces of tender and juicy char siew and 3 reasonable sized wantons. Noodle was of the right texture and rather springy too. I will definitely come back for more.

If you are hungry and want a nice bowl of wanton mee with good enough portion to fill up your empty stomach then this is the one.

This stall is selling dumpling noodle and roasted duck noodle. But if you prefer rice to noodle, you have the choice of roasted duck rice, roasted chicken rice, char siew rice or roasted pork rice.

Minced pork noodle!
Smile 2011-04-07
Hup Seng Huat Cooked Food ( Ang Mo Kio )

   $2.50 !

An old school bowl of dried kway teow from a popular stall in this hawker centre. Waited for about 15 mins before the noodle was served to the table. The kway teow was the thick type that i like, smooth and slippery texture topped with spring onions and dried shallots, it tasted even nicer after well mixed with the dark sauce. It came with quite a few big slices of lean meat and fishcakes with some minced meat and not forgetting 2 fishballs in the soup. And all these for $2.50!

It used to be selling at $3.00 but prices reduced due to competition from other noodle stalls in the hawker centre. Now, you have the option to order the $2.50 or $3.00 portion. They used to serve it with mushroom but no longer now.

If you do not want minced pork noodle or fishball noodle, this stall is selling laksa too. smile

Fish ball noodle!
Smile 2011-04-07
Yong Ji ( Ang Mo Kio )

Nice kway teow soup with generous amount of fishball, fishcake and slices of lean meat in a tasty clear soup with a little peppery taste. Not fanciful but good choice for a light breakfast. Grandpa ordered this for his breakfast but i asked to taste a little, and i do like it. Next time, if i do want something light and healthy then this is gonna be my choice. Service is prompt too.

This stall is selling prawn mee at $3.00 and $3.50, a difference of 0.50 cents extra from the fishball noodle. The fishball noodle is at $2.50 and $3.00.

So, your choice. Prawn mee or fishball noodle?

Crispy pancake!
Just OK 2011-04-07
Belinda's Traditional Pancake ( Ang Mo Kio )

   $1.30

It tasted more like a crepe that i used to have when i was in Taiwan, but here, they only served it with peanut, coconut and red bean. This type of pancake is not too common in Singapore.

I wanted one with peanuts filling for $1.30, the price is slightly at the higher end. It came in a cone shape. The pasty was rather thin but nice and crispy, the coarse peanuts and sugar did not meet my expectation. The taste was not distinctive, neither too sweet nor fragrant, just pretty plain. So it is nicer to eat with the crispy skin and never the peanuts filling by itself.
