Good Pinoy Food! Smile May 30, 2012

My friends and I missed having Pinoy food so bad that we had to meet up and eat at Gerry's Grill. In the Philippines, this is a popular restaurant which serves the best of Philippine cuisine. We ordered the Pork Sisig, Pork Sinigang, and the Chopped Vegetables.

Hmm. Service took quite a while but I guess it's because the place was packed! But what I like about this place is that the waiters were very attentive. Just wave your hand and they will attend to you right away.

As for the food, when it arrived on our table, they were already a bit cold. But still, the pork sisig was still tasty though not as crispy as I hoped it to be. The Pork Sinigang's soup was just soo sour, I LOVE IT! They were also generous with the vegetables and the pork meat.

The chopsuey or the chopped vegetables were crunchy. It wasn't too overcooked to the point of the veggies being soggy and gross.

Overall, from the restaurant ambience down to the food, I would say that it comes close to the restaurant we have back in the Philippines. Price also is reasonable so all's good.

Worth the Money! Smile Mar 20, 2012

I’ve been meaning to try this deli for the longest time after my friend tried it—and raved about their wraps and sandwiches. And so, after church on Sunday, we headed to Takashimaya so we could have lunch there.

The location is quite secluded so it’s the perfect place to get away from all the busy shoppers at Orchard. Their interior is quite limited, but they did a good job in maximising the whole space with that long communal table. Wide mirrors are seen at most corners to make them look more spacious.

On to the food, I ordered the BLT sandwich while my friend had the Cold Shrimp. On top of that, we also had the spinach pizza. When my BLT arrived, I was surprised that for $8.50, it was big and filling! Since it was cut in two, I gave half to my friend and vice versa.

The BLT had very crispy and tasty bacon. The other ingredients of tomatoes and lettuce are also tasty. The multi-grain bread was toasted the right way. It wasn’t too soft, but it wasn’t hard to bite. I could say the same thing for the Cold Shrimp. It had the freshest ingredients and the shrimps were meaty! It tasted very well with the dressing. Yummy! lol

As for the pizza, I loved how the crust is thin and crispy. It wasn’t drenched in sauce like most pizzas and the feta cheese wasn’t too overwhelming. It was just the right amount. Then, it was topped with fresh spinach leaves and olives, then drizzled with vinaigrette. It was very light for lunch which I really like. tongue

Pizza!

Pizza!

I love pizza. And so, when my friends invited me to dinner at this pizza place I haven't tried before, I easily said yes! This restaurant is near the Kembangan mrt, yet a bit hard to go to. We had to take a cab. When we got there, the place was just packed! Note to readers: it's better to reserve as you will just be disappointed if you didn't .Chances of getting a table at this maddening crowd are slim if you just decide to pop by.

Good thing we made reservations so when we got there, we were ushered in to the our table. There were 5 of us, so we ordered their humongous pizza which had so many flavours. I especially liked the slice where there was a sunny side egg on it. There was also bacon (MY FAVOURITE) and I so enjoyed every bite of that pizza.

I definitely would go back there again..

Maybe it was fate that brought my friend and I to the counter of Quiznos.I met up with her on a busy Friday to catch up on each other's lives. We originally wanted to have dinner at this new restaurant at Orchard Central, but when we got there, was surprised with the long queue outsude the restaurant. And so, we decided to try Quiznos.

I ordered the Cheesy Bacon Sandwich with the Chocolate Cookie. On first bite, I immediately fell in love with their sandwich. It was definitely cheese and they didn't cut me short of the bacon in my meal. Also, the bread was really soft and tasted like it was freshly baked.

The cookie also deserves a mention as it was so chocolatey and so soft! It was served warm so the chips were so melted. It waas how I always want my chocolate chip cookie to be served!

My dinner at Quiznos certainly didn't disappoint. I would definitely go back there to try out their other sandwiches.

After checking out Haji Lane, my friend and I suddenly found ourselves craving for Italian food. Since we were near Bugis Junction mall, we just headed to Pasta Mania. It was on a Saturday night so I kinda expected that we would have to queue for a table. But the waiter was able to find us one in a jiffy. When we were seated, he quickly handed us the menu so that we could decide on what to order before we go to the counter.

I had the cream-based Turkey Bacon pasta, while my friend went with the tomato-based Chicken pasta (if I’m not mistaken). We also added the Tri-sausage pasta because it looked appetizing in the photo.

My Turkey bacon pasta was very creamy and heavy. I liked the fact that they were very generous with their sauce, turkey bacon toppings, and parmesan cheese! Though, I kinda felt that the sauce needed some spice because it just tasted creamy… nothing more. I added a little bit of pepper and that did the job.

The pizza was meaty and tasty. Though, it took a while to serve. When it finally got to out table, my friend and I were already a bit full from our pasta dishes. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my dining experience at Pasta Mania.
