Killiney Kopitiam ( Boat Quay )
I have got the sudden urge to try out their stir-fried beef hor fun as it looks yummy! But my boy forgot to state "dry" when ordering. And so, we get the "wet" type of hor fun! Nevertheless, I didnt regret eating it! So tasty and chewy with loads of beef slices! The gravy isnt too thick too. The green and red peppers are soaked into the gravy and is tasty. Even i, not a red/green peppers lover, willing to try it after much persuasion from my boy and i like it! smile I saw a few people around my table ordering the "dry" kind and i figured it must be good too. Will definitely get back to try their "dry" type!

Potion bar at Nostalgia Hotel
Smile 2011-07-01

Potion Bistro & Bar ( Tiong Bahru )
A place situated in tiong bahru, most of us will missed it as big pots of plants were used to surround the alfresco dining area. Thus there were not many customers. And the area weren't brightly lit at night. That is why i choose to dine inside the hotel, at the hotel lobby instead.

Although the area inside was small, it was nicely decorated, with east meets west kind of setting.

The staff were very friendly and attentive. We ordered a 4-course dinner set- appetiser, main, a drink and a dessert of the day. We also added in sauteed shrimps in creamy garlic herbs. They were attentive as in they know exactly when to serve your next dish and will wait till you finished up your appetiser before serving your main, same goes for desserts.

My friend's appetiser is a big bowl of salad and mine is a Focaccia- olive oil with some tomato diced on a bread. The salad has a generous of crusty bread and baked ham on top of it and the veggie were very fresh and crunchy too. The focaccia were delicious too! The bread were toasted just nice, not that hard, and the juicy tomato goes really well with the olive oil and bread.

The sauteed shrimps taste really good! Shrimps were fresh, plump, and chewy and goes really well with the gravy. Plus, it is a bit spicy too! I like and it is a must-try! tongue

Next come the grilled chicken chop which i find it average. But i love the plating- love the cute mini "carrot". smile

I love my desserts, whether it is in terms of the presentation and the taste. Colourful enough to make one happy. There are a few flavours of coated ice-cream- Vanilla, Mango, strawberry, mint (my favourite!). They are so considerate to put in some fruits so that you can switch to eating the fruits if you ever feel too cold eating the ice-cream.

They have a bar lounge too where you can chill out with friends/ colleagues after a hearty meal! smile

Oriental Cuisine - Rasapura Masters ( Marina Bay )
As i love to eat Xiao Long Bao a lot, i search around the Rasapura food court and saw that the oriental chinese cuisine offers Xiao Long Bao.

So, I ordered a tray of it and i must say, the food at MBS doesnt comes cheap, even at food court. I also order crispy fried beancurd roll as it is also one of my favourite too!

The Xiao Long Bao doesnt taste as good as i expect it to be. But overall still edible. If only it could be juicy enough.

The crispy fried beancurd roll tasted heaven. Crispy and the fillings are full! But oily as even bite i take, the oil spills out and i dirtied my top. sad But still, i highly recommend it! Do be extra careful when you eat. haha! tongue

Drinks and Desserts Stall - Rasapura Masters ( Marina Bay )
We had a show to catch and as we reached earlier than expected, we decided to go have our breakfast first.

I ordered a toasted bread with butter and kaya in it! It is really nice, with the bread toasted just nice and crispy. Every bite i took, the butter and kaya sauce oozed out. This shows that they put generous amount of butter and kaya which i like, although sinful! haha!

My boy ordered a cuppa coffee and half boiled eggs which i love!! I love the kopitiam style of eggs! Washes the egg yolks and whites down my throat could be more better for a sunday breakfast! (: We Ordered other food too from another stall as we sit back and relax, while waiting for our show. (:

Soup restaurant

Soup Restaurant ( Little India )
Been wanting to try this restaurant as i heard many positive comments on the Samsui Ginger Chicken. True enough, it didnt disappoint me! Meant to serve cold, the white chicken dipped with the ginger sauce tasted like heaven! Perfect match!! The boneless chicken make it a plus point!

I ordered the Double Boiled Waisan & Ginseng Roots with Chicken Soup to relieve stress. The flavourful soup proves that many efforts and time is used to boiled the soup. I cant finish the soup as the ginseng taste is too strong- I dont really like ginseng. But i believe many will agree with me that the soup tasted good. Only negative point is that the bits of chickens in the soup is too hard. Not very pleasant to chew on it too.

The claypot tofu is a must-try for tofu lover like me! Tofu were so soft and the gravy is thick and nice, though i dont exactly know what contains inside the gravy. haha! tongue But i really love the tofu a lot and am surprised why is it not included under popular dishes in their website. shocked

We ordered their fried shrimp too! Quite nice with a tinge of sweetness, crispy and chewy too! (:

I love love love the chicken and claypot tofu and would definitely go back again!smile

Yummy Chopsticks ( Changi )
Went to expo to have our lunch after my exams ended. A time when my appetite is good especially after my papers, i ordered alot of food for just the two of us. hehe. tongue

I am a sucker for Xiao Long Bao. I would search around the area to see if any restaurants offer Xiao Long Bao, and i happened to walk past yummy chopsticks! Their Xiao Long Bao thought very big, it wasnt as nice as compared to Din Tai Feng and Crystal Jade's. The skin was too thick and the meat werent juicy enough. sad

I love steamed custard buns too and would always order whenever i see it as there werent many restaurants that offers it. Yummy chopstick serves some great steamed custard buns. The Leaf-shape makes it so cute to eat. The dough was soft and good, but if only the custard could be more watery / juicy, with the custard oozing out.

The mango shrimp dumplings are worth a try too! something really special which i have never tried it anywhere else before. The dumplings are so huge and juicy! I somehow wish their items can be made in bite size for small-mouth women like me. So difficult to have to open my mouth big just to get a bite. sad

I ordered si-chuan style hot and spicy noodle. It doesnt taste as nice as my friend's jia jiang mian! sad I personally feel that their noodle are not worth trying.

The pan fried gyoza are really good! Very juicy and flavourful meat! Must-try too! I think they offered fried or steamed gyoza too! So you could choose according to your liking.

Though the restaurant doesnt spend much on decorating the restaurant and from the outside, it doesnt look very welcoming, they do serve nice dim sum that is worth a try. Will definitely go back again for their dim sum!

cedele review

Cedele ( Changi )
My friend brought me to this place and said they served healthy sandwiches and the bread that they sell is really tasty. The concept is somehow like Subways, as we can choose the choice of our bread. Cedele distinguished from other sandwiches bar as they sells soup, coffees, loaf of breads and have breakfast menu.

I ordered a creamy chicken mushroom soup and a huge rosemary chicken sandwich! I couldn't remembered if i ordered the wholemeal or organic bread. All i could remember was i ordered the one with sunflower seeds! hehe! While my friend ordered a pumpkin soup and a tuna sandwich- couldnt remember which bread she order too. sad

The portion was big and it was really healthy. My hands doesnt feel oily after finishing up my sandwich using my hands to eat. But my soup was too starchy and i feel gelate after finishing half of the big bowl. Definitely a good choice to dine at when you feel health conscious. Would go back to try the wide variety of sandwiches again! (:

Desserts time!
Smile 2011-06-30

Häagen-Dazs ( Somerset )
After a day of shopping with friend in town, we decided to pamper ourselves with some desserts from Haagen Daz to satisfy our sweet tooth! tongue

I ordered paradise while my friend ordered a waffle with single scoop of ice cream in belgium chocolate flavour.

The place wasnt crowded with people. I guessed it is because not many people shop at centerpoint and Haagen Daz at centerpoint is located quite inside of the shopping mall.

Service was prompt as there was not many customers. Good for us, customers as we can enjoy the quietness and catch up with friend while enjoying our desserts. Simply heaven! smile

My desserts- Paradise, consists of Dark Chocolate Orange, Belgian Chocolate, Tiramisu and Macadamia Nut ice cream, Raspberry Sorbet and Mango Sorbet with chocolate and strawberry sauce. You can change the flavour of your choice too! I am so eager to taste each and every of the flavours.. hehe.. greedy me. tongue But of course, i shared mine with my friend as i couldnt finish it. I love the waffle biscuits at each level. Crunchy and sweet! The finishing touch makes me so reluctant to eat at first. it was so beautiful!

While my friend's waffle tasted ordinary, I guessed it is the ice cream that we go for isnt it??

Though Haagen Daz ice cream doesnt comes cheap, i figured it is a once-in-a-while indulge to pamper ourselves. Would definitely go back again in future for the quiet ambience to relax! smile

Crystal Jade Korean BBQ ( Serangoon )
I heard from my colleague that they served good noodle soup and so, i suggested going to crystal jade for our lunch.

I ordered a shrimp dumplings noodle soup and true enough, my colleague was right! The shrimp fillings inside the dumpling was so full and i love how the meat tasted juicy! The noodle tasted chewy too! Soup was clear and not so oily, so every mouth taste refreshing. There are oother variety of noodles too and i feel like trying some others in my next visit. Definitely worth every money spent with the huge and juicy dumplings! smile

Astons food review
Smile 2011-06-30

Astons Specialities ( Changi )
I love astons for their affordable price and the ambience at changi is great! The staff are attentive to our needs and we waited awhile for our food.

I ordered grilled fish served with creamy herbs sauce and choose mashed potato and onion rings for my sides. While my friend ordered grilled chicken chop with house salad and corn on the cob- so healthy! smile

The grilled fish was fresh and the meat was soft. It goes really well with the creamy herbs sauce. The portion is also just nice. The mashed potato was really good! But they gave such a big sccop of it that i feel gelate after awhile. But it was really good and i love the sauce too. Onion rings were not as great as i expect it to be much crispy instead of soggy.

My friend's chicken chop tasted great too and i just love the in-house salad! Crunchy veggies with specialty salad sauce. She said the corn on the cob is soft and flavourful. But it can get quite messy finishing the corn. haha!

Overall, i can say that astons never fails me with the excellent service and affordable, great food! Would love to go there to eat again for the ambience and great food. smile

The Manhattan Fish Market ( Woodlands )
The concept is something alike to fish & co. But manhattan fish market has this deep fried mushrooms served with unique sauce that has a tinge of lime taste which whet your appetite. I love the mushrooms to the max!! Although deep fried, the juicy mushrooms burst into your mouth when you take the first bite! Moreover, it is served HOT instead of warm! That is the thing i love most! (:

Soup of the day was cream of mushroom and i love how the soup is not that watery and you can practically bite into bits of mushrooms instead of just having the mushroom taste. I am not a fan of mushrooms, but this restaurant serves great mushrooms!

I had fish and chip for my main and i must admit that the fish doesnt taste very fresh and i feel gelate after my first piece of fish and chips, together with the generous fries.

Service was prompt and efficient. We were seated down quickly and didnt have to wait very long for our food.

Not a bad place to hang out afterall if you are on a tight budget. Oh ya! and remember to order the deep fried mushrooms to try! (;

Domino's Pizza ( Orchard )
My family and I decided to have domino's pizza for dinner as my mum was feeling lazy to cook. There was not many people in the restaurant. I guess people usually call for delivery instead of dining there. The service was fast and efficient too. My dad ordered a large size pizza, cinnanmon bread, onion rings, and twisted garlic sticks. Personally, i would prefer Domino's to Pizza Hut. The ingredients on the pizza was really delicious and juicy that i will not feel gelat after eating 2 slices of it. I love the thin crust of the base too. The cinnanmon bread is a must-try! It was so soft and the cinnanmon taste was so good. But the onion rings and the twisted garlic sticks just tasted normal.

Andersen’s of Denmark ( Marine Parade )
My family decided that we are going to have andersen's ice cream log cake for our christmas cake! We ordered a few weeks in advance and on the day of collection, we head down and order a "couple fondue platter". It was YUMMYLICIOUS!!! Everything from the chocolate fondue to the fresh fruits to the ice cream, down to the mini waffle cones. It was perfect. You can eat it in whichever way you like. For example, scooping a mini bits of ice-cream on top of the mini waffle cone and dip it with some peanuts and chocolate fondue. My brother has a good time making his own "creation". The ice-cream log cake was yummy too.. The ice-cream was not too sweet, just nice for the elderly. Though the price can be costly, but i feel it is the quality of the ice-cream that matter most. So, thumbs up for ANDERSEN's! (:

ICE3 ( Upper Thomson )
My friend introduce me to this cafe, and i feel the cafe has a unique name. True enough, the inside of the cafe is so cold that it matches the naem of the cafe! They had a few air- conditioners installed at different areas and were blasting it at cold temperature! It felt weird to actually eat ice-cream at such a cold environment. Nevertheless, the brownie is really tasty with the chocolatey sauce. the scoop of ice cream of your choice was huge too! The toppings were generously spread and my 3 friends and i shared this. we ordered a cup of tea too as we felt sinful after eating the brownie. haha! I recommend this place to you people who love to chill out with friends during night time.

Xin Wang Hong Kong Café ( Pasir Ris )
Located at a corner, not a very prominent place. I love Xin Wang for their food at a reasonable price. The prawn dumplings contain a big whole prawn, and it can be a mouthful for me. The salted fish fried rice is a must try for those who love salted fish. They are generous with the eggs and salted fish that you almost can eat it in every bite. The fried wantons were crispy and it comes with mayo sauce. I especially love the egg with luncheon meat mee soup. The chef was thoughtful enough to place the luncheon meat on a separate plate instead of soaking it into the soup. The hot honey lemon tea is soothing for the throat and it is neither too sweet nor sour, tasted just nice! Overall, simple food with reasonable price! (:
