New World Mutton Soup  (Jalan Besar)

Now this is a good place for herbal soup lovers! The herbs tend to ease off the strong mutton smell and the vinegar helps for those who want to mild down the herbal base. The meat is soft, and the bones are easily separated. The soup is really really smooth and the presentation of it is not that bad. Sorry for the bad picture, just couldn't wait to dig in!
The chilli here makes you go on fire! A must for chilli lovers but I think I have low tolerance mad

Had myself a Pig Organ Pork Ball Soup. The store's business seems to be rather quiet except on weekends. You can always find seats available so no need to fret for those who are easily put off by having no available seats.
Smooth flavourful soup, generous ingredients, good service. What's more to ask for? Probably a cooler weather to enjoy the meal without breaking a sweat? smile

Got to love their chicken pie! Reasonable fillings and buttery smells, this bakery can be found on so many parts of the island. The chicken bits are really small, but well spread throughout the puff. Though somewhat pricey, this chicken pie is one of the better tasting ones around. A nice substitute for their equally nice tuna puff too!

Business bustles at this store with me waiting for more than 15 minutes despite only having 2 people queuing in front of me. Service is good and the auntie there is really good at remembering faces and orders!
Carrot cake was nicely presented and tasted better than expected. The kueh was fried only upon order and it's crispiness was divine. The kueh was at the right texture, not lumped together and the spring onions were fresh!
Good buy at $2!

Located at a stone's throw away from Tiong Bahru Plaza, this humble pastry shop serves one of the best egg tarts I have ever tasted. Extremely soft on the inside and a rather crunchy crust, it's the perfect combination for a crispy soft combination. Best to call them up before dropping by if you are going to order in numbers as they may be out due to their popularity tongue
