coffee bun
Smile 2012-12-08
Roti Mum ( Jurong East )
It has been ages since I had coffee buns and I decided to buy from Roti Mum as the scent of the coffee bun is simply too hard to resist. The coffee bun is still piping hot when I bought it and the smell is really good. The exterior of the bread, or rather the bread crust is crispy and sweet while the bread inside is soft and fluffy. I simply love the combination of the coffee and buttery bread. It is a perfect match of flavours and I would urge all coffee lovers to try out this bun.

stir fried hor fun
Smile 2012-11-05
Ming Kitchen Seafood ( Clementi )

   Great stir fried hor fun

I commonly eat out during weekends for dinner and I settled on having my dinner here. This zi char stall caught my eye as the tables around me are all having their food from this stall. I decided on ordering their stir fried hor fun which costs $4 per plate for the small serving. If you have a larger group, you can order the medium or large serving for sharing. What I love about the hor fun here is how easily it glides down your throat as the hor fun is not clumpy. As for the taste, it is really good, not too salty. The ingredients given are also fresh and quite substantial. There are two prawns and slices of fishcake, meat and sotong. They are not stingy with the vegetables as well. It is an enjoyable meal and I would be back to try out their other dishes the next time I am there.

Honeymoon Dessert ( Bugis )
I had a wonderful dessert at Honeymoon today and I was glad I chose to come here instead of elsewhere. I ordered the red bean soup with grass jelly and added on a scoop of green tea ice cream for a more indulgent treat. I really loved the red bean soup as the sweetness is enough and the red beans are slightly soft which made it very easy to eat. The grass jelly adds a different texture to the soup and the green tea ice cream also went surprisingly well with the red bean soup.

tako balls
Smile 2012-06-19
Wow Tako ( Bugis )
I could not resist queuing up and buying the tako balls when I saw a few girls having them. Luckily for me, the tako balls are just made, so it is pipping hot. The exterior crust is a little crispy and the interior is soft. I choose the cheese and ham filling and the melted cheese just oozes out, making it very delicious. I omitted the mayo because I thought the combination of the sauce and the flakes made this very flavourful already. Try to get them while they are just made, because it really does taste better.

smooth ice cream
Smile 2012-06-19
Andersen’s of Denmark ( City Hall )
I have always seen Anderson’s ice cream outlets but never got to trying it until yesterday when my hubby suggested having ice cream for dessert. We prefer sticking with popular flavours since it is our first time trying it, so we decided to get the Cookies and Cream ice cream. The bits of cookies in the ice cream are quite reasonable and add a chocolaty taste to the ice cream. The ice cream is the normal vanilla ice cream, and we both thought that the ice cream is rather creamy and smooth. We had no problems finishing up the entire cup of ice cream, as full as we are after dinner.

green tea and sesame pancake
Smile 2012-06-13
Crystal Jade My Bread ( Choa Chu Kang )
I can never get enough of the pancakes at Crystal Jade My Bread. Each of these cost $1.10, and although it is slightly expensive, but it is very worth it. The filling is quite thick and the outer glutinous rice skin is soft and slightly chewy. The filling for the green tea pancake is custard and the custard taste a little like the egg tart custard just that it is less eggy. The black sesame pancake (the white coloured one) has black sesame filling which is in paste form, and is smooth and sweet.

Tom's Palette ( City Hall )
It seems like I will always visit tom’s palette at least once a month. This time when I went, it was after dinner and there is quite a crowd over at its stall. Still I was impressed by the customer service since they are ever so patient in letting customers try before they buy the ice cream. I tried its cheesecake caramel ice cream and sasi. The cheesecake caramel is really quite cheesy and sweet and it is not too heavy on the cheese taste. I find this flavour quite intriguing and cheesecake lovers might want to check this flavour out. The sasi flavour is even more of a surprise and I loved it a lot. It is so much better than the real drink itself. This is very exciting on the palette and it is one of the most unique flavours I have ever come across. This is why I love their ice creams so much as they always bring new flavours to us.

aromatic coffee

OldTown White Coffee ( Boon Lay )
Sometime last year, I had coffee with a friend at Jurong Point at Old Town White Coffee after our groceries shopping at FairpriceX. I ordered the Somehow my order got mixed up and I ended with a cup of white coffee instead of mocha coffee. Nevertheless, I am ok with it although the waitress offered to change for me. I loved the nice aroma of the coffee as I brought the coffee cup towards me. The coffee is not boiling hot so you can sip on it. This is the way coffees should be, it should be brewed at temperatures of around 85 degrees so as to preserve the full flavour of the coffee beans. I liked the coffee here as it is very smooth and full of flavour which is well balanced with sugar such that the sweetness level is just right.

pizza hut lunch
Just OK 2012-06-12
Pizza Hut ( Yishun )
I went to this branch of Pizza Hut for my lunch together with my hubby. We had two mains to ourselves and ordered the garlic bread and soup of the day. The soup of the day is quite poor and not worth ordering since it is quite salty and it is just cream of something soup. In addition, it is lukewarm when served. I would prefer it to be warm. I enjoyed the garlic bread though as it is crisp and hot and the garlic butter spread is quite generous.

For my main, I had the Hawaiian regular pan pizza. The pizza is quite cheesy and I loved chewing on the cheese and slightly crusty bread. The ingredients are just barely reasonable, though I still felt like I was munching on bread and cheese instead of a real hawaiian pizza where I can taste more ham and pineapple. My hubby ordered the baked rice and he finished everything, which probably meant that it is quite tasty.

Service here on the whole is quite good. The waiter who served us was friendly and had refilled our water when it is running low. The only downside for me is the soup, and some disappointment over the amount of ingredients in the pizza.

diy yogurt dispensing
Smile 2012-06-12
Sogurt ( Marine Parade )
This is a diy store where customers get to dispense the yogurt directly to the cups themselves. It is quite a new experience doing so, and quite fun as well. In addition, there are many other flavours like grape, cookies and cream, lychee and even red velvet cake. Perhaps because of my age, such flavours do not really appeal that much to me as I am more comfortable with the normal flavours. This is why I opted for the normal natural flavour and added cornflakes topping onto my yoghurt. The price adds up to around $3.60 which is quite alright. The yoghurt here is really smooth and nice and it does not melt too quickly as well. With so many flavours, there will be one that is to your liking.

Soon Heng Fruit Juice ( Ang Mo Kio )
After a filling lunch at the hawker centre, I was looking for something sweet to end off my meal. This stall sells both fruits as well as fruit juices and I decided to get the honeydew since it is less commonly found as compared to other fruits like apples or watermelons. It is quite a reasonable slice and it smelt really fragrant. It tasted sweet and the flesh of the honeydew is not too soft nor hard as well, making it a really good dessert to end off a meal.

green tea sponge cake
Smile 2012-06-08
BreadTalk ( Toa Payoh )
I have always wanted to try out these cakes from Breadtalk, and finally got my hands on them that day since the breads which I wanted had already been sold out. There are a total of four different flavours for this sponge cake like orange, strawberry and marble but only the green tea flavour was left when I was there, so I got two of the green tea sponge cakes.

The green tea sponge cake is just cake without cream in them, which is a healthier choice of cake for people who are more health conscious. The green tea sponge cake is not too sweet and there is a light green tea flavour. The cake itself is also quite spongy and moist and it is enough to satisfy hunger pangs in the mid afternoon after lunch. I would recommend you to try this if you are looking a light tasting cake. Each of this cake cost $1.30, if you buy four, it will be at a lower price of $4.60. Service here is fast even though there is a short queue.

claypot style hokkien mee
Smile 2012-06-06
Ming Ching Seafood ( Bukit Batok )
Unlike the yellow noodle + white beehoon hokkien mee, this is the claypot style hokkien mee, that is fried with fishcake slices, sotong, egg, beansprouts, spring onions and some leafy greens. The noodle used is the flat yellow noodles and surprisingly, I found this to be rather tasty as well. The noodles managed to absorb much of the gravy used to fried it in, and it is very tasty on its own, especially with the fried scrambled eggs. I am glad I told them to add chilli for me because the slight spiciness made this dish even more enjoyable. The sotong is also quite fresh such that I finished all of it, while normally I will not finish for fear of high cholesterol.

Sassy Mango BeanCup
Smile 2012-06-06
So-Yea ( Pasir Ris )
It is more and more common to find stalls setting up to sell the new age beancurd which have pudding like consistency. So Yea is one of these stalls which is located at downtown east. One thing differentiating them from other beancurd stalls is that they offer beancurd in a cup. That is quite innovative and a good option as well since I can eat it on the go. There are various flavours for the beancurd in a cup or beancup. I had actually wanted to try the almond flavour, but the person at the counter urged me to give their new flavour, the sassy mango a try.

First, the beancurd is really smooth and it is really drinkable since it is so smooth and like lao ban, the beancurd will melt easily in your mouth. The sassy mango flavour is indeed rather special, giving the beancurd a hint of fruity flavour of mango which is quite a refreshing change. The mango flavour is not too artificial as well! In addition, I like that the beancurd is not too sweet, making this a really healthy and delicious dessert! The only thing not so good is that they have only this branch and it is far in the East side of singapore.

delicious scones
Smile 2012-06-06
Provence ( Holland )
This is my first time trying out the scones from Provence. Normally I will get their wassants and milk pan but this time for a change I went for the scones. The scones are slightly warm when I bought it and I find myself loving the texture of the scone. It is slightly hard on the outside but the interior will just break apart as you bite into it. The scone is not exceedingly sweet like those that I have tasted before and the bits of chocolate inside the scone adds some flavour and sweetness to the scone. It is prefect when paired with milk.
