Dinner ;D
Smile 2013-04-30

Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert ( Upp Changi )
Had dinner with my mum at around 8pm.

Wanted to order the Gold-Dusted Chicken Cutlet Rice but it is out of stock.

So I ordered the Gold-Dusted Pork Cutlet Rice instead, while my mum ordered the Steamed pork belly rice with preserved vegetables.

Added on the current promotion where we just have to add $1.50 to get a side and a dessert.

Sides we got are carrot cake and yam cake, and desserts are almond paste and sesame paste.

The food came within 10 minutes and at a nice warm temperature.

They served the sides and desserts at the same time too.

For the Steamed pork belly rice with preserved vegetables, the sauce is too little and the rice is a little dry.
The meat and preserved vegetables is not a lot too.

It still tastes quite nice though.(:
The pork is not too fatty and the meat is tender and nice.

As for my Gold-Dusted Pork Cutlet Rice, the pork cutlet is quite a lot.

The noodles is not too dry but there is those taste of the ‘yellow’ noodles.

The seasoning of the pork is quite strong and it makes the dish tasteful ;D

As for the desserts, they are really delicious as it is thick and not watery.

The taste is strong and really nice;D

It is quite affordable to dine here lol

Black Pepper Flamer ;D
Smile 2013-04-30

McDonald's ( Clementi )
Tried the new black pepper flamer set with upsize at $6.95.

First time trying and like it a lot ;D

The black pepper meat is richly flavoured and it tastes a little like curry kind of black pepper.

The meat is soft, tender and really juicy.

Unlike the previous black pepper burger launched for a limited period, this time's black pepper is not too spicy and the taste is just right.

Although it is slightly salty, it still tastes pretty well as a whole.

The shaker fries this time is the Citrus Thai Shaker Fries.
Initially I thought it would taste somewhat like orange since it is citrus, but I really love it after trying it.

It tastes like the Thai Tom yum flavour. Not too spicy or sour.

The powder is not too salty either even when I put the whole packet of the powder with the fries.

Like it a lot ^^

The Lychee McFrizz is quite nice too.
The lychee taste isn't too strong but the drink is refreshing. It is quite similar to sprite Except that it has the lychee flavour.

Really like this new burger as a whole. Should try it!;D

Rip and Chicke'n
Smile 2013-04-30

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen ( Pasir Ris )
Did not really try the chicken from Popeyes before and we decided to take on the cashier recommendation to get the rip and chicke'n promotion set.

It is actually something like a buddy meal. With 3 piece chicken which is quite big in size, fries, two drinks and a mash potato.

The set came with a special dipper that tastes a little like sour cream?

I'm not sure what the sauce is but it is really nice to have it with the fries and chicken ;D

It is quite salty though, but that helps to spice up the taste of the chicken and fries.

The chicken is simple and plain. It is crispy on the outer and the meat is white and tender.

The taste of the meat is not very strong, a little salty and fragrant.

It goes pretty well with the sauce ;D

Even for the chicken breast meat, it is quite soft and tender too.

As for the fries, really like it a lot as the flavour is rich and tasty ;D

It has the taste of potato and also a nice fragrant taste that penetrates deep within the fries.

Love it a lot ^^

The mash potato is nice too ;D

The gravy isn't simply just gravy but accompanied with other herbs/vegetable ingredients.

It gives a more unique and peppery taste.

The portion is really quite a lot for two girls. We got really full and there are still some leftovers, really worth it for the price of $12.80 a set.

Fried Kway Teow
Just OK 2013-04-30

Wu Ba Ye Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee ( West Coast )
Ordered a plate of fried kway teow at $3.

The portion was quite a lot. It is affordable and tastes quite nice ;D

With two customers ahead of me, the whole waiting time was around 5minutes.

The service was average and acceptable.

It is placed on the special leaf that make it more fragrant and delicious.

It is not overly cooked and I could taste a bit of the 'fried wok' taste.

The sweet sauce used is just right and is not too sweet or salty.

The amount of ingredients is okay too..and I like the taste of the chewy Taiwan sausage ;D

The plate of fried kway teow is not too dry or oily and the fragrant taste is quite strong.

The kway teow does not stick together and is not too soft.

There are still areas for improvements on the taste though.

Considering the price and place, it is pretty worth it for this plate of fried kway teow.

Fishball Noodles
Smile 2013-04-30

Wanton Noodle, Dumpling Soup - Food Court 3 ( Dover )
First time trying this noodles store and I ordered the fishball noodles, dried without chilli.

It costs $2.80 and the portion is quite a lot.

It uses mee pok instead of the normal yellow noodles when ordering fishball noodles elsewhere.

It is not too dry and the sauce is a lot.

The noodles are a little sticky though, but it is nice as it is.

The sauce made for the noodles is nice, not too salty and the taste is strong enough ;D

The ingredients is quite a lot too, total of 4 fishballs and quite a generous portion of fish cakes.

It is quite worth it and the noodles are delicious and filling.

The auntie is friendly too lol

New Flavours
Smile 2013-04-30

Baker Talent ( Choa Chu Kang )
They introduced two new flavours recently – Ham and cheese, and Sausage cheese.

Tried both flavours ;D

Ham & Cheese
I quite like the ham and cheese. The cheese added on top of the ham is more like cream cheese and it goes well with the ham which is not too salty ;D

The bread, as always, is nice and it retains some moisture within so that it is not too dry to the throat.

Sausage Cheese
As for the sausage cheese bun, the sausage is one whole sausage which is really worth it for the price of $0.90.

However I did not quite like the cheese that was added with it. I’m not very sure if its cheese but it has a cheese-like texture, creamy and sticky.

That puts me off a little as it didn’t really suit my taste :x
Nonetheless it is really worth it as compared to the other bakeries.

This bakery is my favourite ever since I first tried it.

No doubt I will always buy from this bakery as they are affordable and have really nice flavours.

Even the basic butter boom that costs merely $0.60 each is really tasty and delicious ^^

Sugar Cane Juice ;D
Smile 2013-04-30

Bing Jin Sugar Cane Juice ( Telok Blangah )
This stall sells sugar cane juice and the bigger one without lemon costs $1 ;D

Bought it as take away and it is really a big packet…really worth it.

It is refreshing and sweet. Really effective in quenching thirst on a hot weather.

The sugar cane used is sweet enough and they are fresh and nice.

Would definitely buy sugar cane juice from this stall again the next time lol

Really affordable and worth it.

The uncle is quite fast in preparing orders too and is quite friendly.

Pricing:
Without lemon- small: $0.70, big: $1
With lemon- small: $0.90, big $1.20

Fried Kway Teow Mee
Just OK 2013-04-30

Fried Kway Teow Mee ( Telok Blangah )
Saw this stall that sells fried kway teow at $2 which attracted me with this low price.

There isn’t any customer though. I hesitated a while before placing my order.

The stall is owned by an elderly couple and the lady cooked the fried kway teow on the spot upon ordering.

It took less than 3 minutes and my fried kway teow is ready.

Had to admit I’m quite disappointed when the plate of fried kway teow was presented to me.
It is really a small plate and the presentation of it isn’t very good.

It was lucky I’m not too hungry that day so the small portion fills just right.

The fried kway teow tastes not bad though. Just that the sauce is a little too sweet.

Other than that, the black sauce flavouring is generous and made the fried kway teow tasteful.

The ingredients isn’t a lot, and given the fact that its $2, it is still acceptable.

Not a bad choice if you are not very hungry since it’s only $2 per plate.

There is also the fried hokkien mee at the same price.

Smile 2013-04-30

Seng Heng Family Restaurant ( Yishun )
Previously this stall was featured on a mediacorp food programme and so we decided to give it a try since we are near ;D

There isn’t a large crowd and the seating area is small. They have tables and chairs set up outside the stall.

It’s 6 items for $2.50.
Chose 6 items, including 2 vegetables. Got it together with white rice.

My parents each ordered the Laksa and the noodles.

The waiting time is not very long.

The rice is quite a big bowl. I would rather prefer a bigger bowl of soup though ;P

The soup is sweet and refreshing and they used the bean and ikan billis to flavour the soup, so it’s naturally sweetened and a healthier choice ;D

The 6 items I chose is average. It is considered really worth it given the affordable price.

Like it that the fish pastes is not fishy and it is fresh.

Tried the Laksa gravy and it tasted a little like curry kind of Laksa.

Not bad though, not too spicy and the taste is thick and flavourful.

would visit this stall again for it's affordable simple and original taste.(:

Fish&Chips ;D
Smile 2013-04-30

The Manhattan Fish Market ( Woodlands )
Love the fish & chips at manhattan fish market ;D
Indeed it’s a fish market, where majority of their fish items are so delicious and appetizing.

Their presentation of this fish&chips is different from what we normally see.

The fish is topped with a special sauce that is slightly sour and goes really well with the fish.

Having the sauce to complement the fresh fish, it brings the dish to a new level of taste which is really unique and delectable ;D

The sauce tastes a little like mayonnaise and sour cream, with herbs and tinge of lemon.

The fish is really fresh and juicy too. Smooth and soft, and really nice to eat ^^

The taste is really delicious and the outer is crispy.

The salad is fresh and simple too. Not forgetting the chips, it is nicely marinated with the flavour within the fries and it is not too salty or bland ;D

Really enjoyed my dinner at manhattan with the one-for-one offer voucher we got for the fish & chips ordered.
Really worth it and satisfying meal lol

Lunch with colleagues ;D
Smile 2013-04-30

Swensen's ( Clementi )
Ordered the Fish & Chips which is at the price of around $15 after all charges.

Currently there is a promotion for dine-in weekday lunch where we get to choose either a side, sundae or drink which is complementary with any order of a main course.

Was pretty excited to hear about this promotion and decided to share the free items in pairs.

So what me and my friend chose is the Prawn Dippers and Frosted Chocolate Melt.

The items available to choose from are almost any item from the respective categories, except for the bigger ones like mega sundaes.

This is really a great deal for us since we are actually contemplating to order some sides without even knowing there is this promotion.

I guess this promotion does attract me to choose Swensen’s whenever we are deciding on which restaurant for lunch ;P

Fish & Chips
The food is served in around 10-15minutes.

The portion looks okay but I got really full after finishing it.

The fish is hot and crispy. It is fresh and has the natural freshness sweet.

It is a little juicy and tasted quite delicious ;D

The coleslaw taste a little weird though. Probably it’s the sauce used that made it taste weird.

The fries have quite a rich potato taste and it nicely flavoured and is crispy.

Prawn dippers
There is around 7-8 prawn dippers each portion ;D

It is crispy and there is a whole prawn in the dippers. The prawn is fresh and sweet.

The overall taste is simple and nice, not too strong on the flavour lol

Frosted Chocolate Melts
It is quite a large portion and the ice cream taste is rich and creamy.

The they are generous with the melted chocolate frost and the maltesers chocolate ;D

The maltesers chocolate will get stuck to the teeth though :/ but it is still nice lol

The whipped cream topped on the dessert is quite nice too. Goes well with the ice cream and chocolate and is not too sweet.

The service is nice, service crews are friendly and patient.(:

Chicken Cutlet Rice
Just OK 2013-04-30

Chicken Talk - Food Court 3 ( Dover )
It’s my first time trying this stall. Was attracted by the chicken cutlet rice and partly also because the queue is generally shorter.

The nice part is we get to choose the sauce to go with our chicken cutlet from the long list.

It’s a long list and I spotted nacho cheese as one of the choice.

Ordered it with the black pepper sauce ;D

The presentation of it looks simple. The rice is a little too bland without the sauce.
The amount of sauce given is quite little.

The chicken is average, it is not too dry but the cutlet outer is not really crispy.

The black pepper sauce is a little weird too.

It’s $2.50 per plate.
Quite affordable but not completely worth it though.

Rojak ;D
Smile 2013-04-30

Fong's Rojak ( Clementi )
Craving for rojak and this is the first stall I found selling rojak.

I bought the $2.50 portion for take away. Glad there isn’t any take away charges.(:

The portion is reasonable for $2.50.

They are not stingy on the sauce and the flavour is quite strong and thick.

I personally felt the taste is a little too sweet and a little salty.

Putting that aside, it is quite nice and tasty.

The ingredients used are fresh and some had natural sweetness. Even the cucumbers are sweet and crunchy ;D

Duck Rice Set ;D
Just OK 2013-04-30

Cheng Ji Lu Ya ( Clementi )
Spotted this duck rice stall and decided to give it a try.

Although the board only stated the price for duck rice set, the uncle would ask if we want it with set or without.

Set would include tou kwa, egg. while without the set would be just the rice and duck.

Difference is $0.50 and I bought the set without much considerations.

The taste is average. The rice is not too dry and the duck is okay.

The portion is reasonable for $3.

All the items tastes okay. Just that the braised flavour is not strong enough.

Would have obtain a higher rating if the taste is thicker and stronger.
I would give it a 6/10?(:

Aglio Olio ;D
Smile 2013-04-30

PastaMania ( Jurong East )
It’s been a while since I last had the aglio olio at pastamania.

Their aglio olio is one of lower priced item on their menu, costing $5.20.

Choice of pasta is Linguine. Love linguine ever since I first tried it at pastamania ;D

It is the flat type of spaghetti and it gives a different taste.

The food is served to us quite fast after placing our order, in around 5minutes.

It is warm and nice to consume immediately when served.

It is not very spicy and it uses olive oil, which is healthier ;D

Not overly oily and is moderately spiced with herbs and chilli flakes.

Really love it for the strong but yet simple taste ;D

However those who dislike garlic may not like this as much though as the garlic taste is quite strong and there is quite a lot of small cubed garlic.

Although the portion doesn’t look big, it is actually just the right filling portion.

Service was good too.(:
