Sweet & Sour Soup
Smile 2011-11-06
Paradise Dynasty ( Orchard )
I love the Sweet & Sour soup at Din Tai Fung and was curious to know if Paradise Dynasty could match up.
It sure did! In fact, the Sweet & Sour Soup at Paradise Dynasty is much better!

The soup is of a nice thickness and consistency and is very rich in flavours.
At DTF, I usually have to add pepper and chilli into the soup to make it more flavourful and delicious whereas at Paradise Dynasty, I can eat it on it's own as it's very flavourful and yummy on it's own!
There's a generous amount of ingredients in the soup as well.

Definitely prefer the Sweet & Sour Soup from Paradise Dynasty to DTF.
Perfect for those cold days smile

The Best Fish & Chips in Town!
Smile 2011-11-01
Fish & Co. ( River Valley )
After a classmate brought me to Fish & Co for the first time, I've been hooked to it!
After out study sessions every weekend, she and I will go to Fish & Co for dinner and as always, order their Fish & Chips.

They have a variety of Fish & Chips too such as those with cheese stuffing among many others.
On this occasion, I got the Best Fish & Chips in Town and honestly, it probably is the best in town!

It is served in a huge bowl-like plate with 2 big servings of fish and thick, crisp fries fried to a perfect golden-brown.
The fish as well is fried very well. It's very crispy on the outside yet soft, chewy and tender on the inside.

Definitely very filling and can be shared among 2 people!
It can be a struggle trying to finish everything on your own as the portion is rather huge and generous.

Worth every single cent, from the generous portion to the great ambience to good service! smile

McDonald's Breakfast!
Smile 2011-10-24
McDonald's ( Orchard )
It had been way too long since I last had McDonald's breakfast and my friend and I made a date to meet early to have it!
I knew exactly what I wanted to order when I got to McDonald's.
Sausage Egg McMuffin of course!!

Before I get to the food, I would have to say that the staff at this outlet were very friendly and cheerful.
Great way to start off the morning!

Back to the food lol
The Sausage Egg McMuffin was as always, wonderful.
The buns were so soft and fluffy whereas the sausage was very juicy and flavourful.
Paired with the egg, this is a killer combination!!

Do try this if you haven't already!! ;)

Curry Fried Rice
Smile 2011-10-20
Simply Curry - Makan Place ( Clementi )
For lunch on one of the days last week, I decided to give this new stall a try!
I ordered their Curry Fried Rice.

The fried rice was served with an egg, sausages, crabstick and cucumbers. Also, they served a bowl of curry with a big piece of potato in it.
The fried rice had a nice crunch to it and I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion of ingredients it came with.
The combination of it was great plus the curry made the rice less dry and more flavourful which was wonderful.

At only $2.80, I will definitely be going back for more!!!

Dad's 58th Birthday
Smile 2011-12-19
A-Roy Thai Restaurant ( City Hall )
My family and I went to A-Roy Thai Restaurant yesterday to celebrate my dad's 58th birthday.
As always, we ordered their Mango Fish.
This is one dish we always look forward to eating and hence, never fail to order!!

We ordered the medium-sized Mango Fish which was served in 6 pieces, at $25.90
The fish is deep-fried and was very crispy and succulent.
The mango topping on it is what makes this dish so unique.
It complements the dish well and brings out it's flavour.
Also, there is a generous portion of cut mango strips lining the plate and this when eaten on it's own is incredibly delicious!

Definitely a must-try dish when visiting this restaurant!
Do note however that the dishes are rather expensive but well worth it as they serve quality Thai cuisine!
A great place for family dinners or a gathering as the restaurant has a nice ambience and decor and the staff are attentive and friendly!

Caramel Macchiato
Smile 2011-11-10
Starbucks ( Buona Vista )
During my internship period at Science Park, I grabbed an Icy Caramel Macchiato during lunch break as a perk-me-up.
It is absolutely delicious.
The caramel added at the top sweetens the drink significantly though in a good way ;)

It's a rather strong drink that is sure to keep you awake and hyper!
Definitely great for days when you can barely keep awake!!

Wanton Noodles
Smile 2011-11-08
Graffiti Café ( Orchard )
Definitely one of the best Wanton Noodles I've tried.
There's always a long queue here and you'll be given a queue number which will be shown electronically when your food is ready.
Waiting time isn't too long either.

The wanton noodles come with a generous amount of char siew and wanton in it and although it is rather oily, it taste really delicious!
The chilli goes very well with the noodles as well.

Great place to chill out with a bunch of friends over a great meal!

Craving for......JAVA CHIP!
Smile 2011-10-23
Starbucks ( Marine Parade )
While at Parkway Parade shopping with my friends yesterday, I spotted Starbucks.
It's been a few loooooong months without Starbucks and I finally caved in yesterday and ordered a Java Chip!!
Usually I would do without the whipped cream but since it's been so long since I last had it, I got it with the cream and requested for more chocolate syrup to be drizzled on it lol lol lol
I love how chocolatey this drink is yet it doesn't ever get too overpowering!
Plus it has just the right amount of coffee in it to keep you awake and high!
The chocolate chips inside adds a great crunch to the drink as well.

Has been my favourite drink at Starbucks since I was 11 and I doubt it'll change.
Perfect drink for anytime, especially as a companion while studying! smile

Subway - Oven Roasted Chicken Breast
Smile 2011-10-23
Subway - Makan Place ( Clementi )
During on of the days in school last week, I had Subway for lunch.
I decided to have the Oven Roasted Chicken Breast which is one of my favourites!
I got all the veges except for the cucumbers and tomatoes and I asked for Honey Mustard and Sweet Onion sauce.

The two sauces, Honey Mustard as well as Sweet Onion sauce, complements the Oven Roasted Chicken Breast perfectly.
I've tried a few different combinations of other sauces with this before but the Honey Mustard and Sweet Onion paired with the chicken is just wonderful.
If you did like something with an additional kick or spice, you can try Chipotle Southwest with Honey Mustard and Sweet Onion. Great combi too!

Definitely one of the best sub combis I've tried and will definitely be having it a lot more smile

Most heavenly cake ever!
Smile 2011-10-05
Nectarie le Dessert Patisserie ( Clarke Quay )
For my 18th birthday, I celebrated it at Clarke Quay with a group of my closest friends.
They bought me the Double Chocolate Mud Cake from Nectarie, knowing what a huge chocolate fan I am.

I've tried so many great chocolate cakes before which I thought would be almost impossible to top....till I tried this Double Chocolate Mud Cake from Nectarie!
The cake is wonderfully flavourful, moist and rich in chocolate and topped with....OREO COOKIE CRUMBS!
On top of that, the cake was decorated well with strawberries which were plump and sweet.

We all couldn't get enough of this cake.
Even after 2 slices of it, I still wasn't feeling jelat and would have had more had I not been so full from it!
Definitely a guilty pleasure and probably impossible to top!!!!!!

lollollollollol

Fried Chicken
Smile 2011-10-05
Keng Eng Kee Seafood ( Bukit Merah )
During a family dinner a while back, we tried out Keng Eng Kee Seafood which is located a short walk away from Queensway Shopping Centre.

Being a huge fan of Fried Chicken, it was a must try when we saw it on the menu. And it didn't let us down!

The fried chicken was served in big pieces and was fried to perfection. Crispy on the outside and juicy and succulent on the inside. I couldn't lay my hands off the chicken and had one too many pieces!!

However, the Fried Chicken was a tad oily but I would think this is common as I haven't found a place that has fried chicken which isn't too oily tongue

For all of you chicken lovers, this is a MUST TRY!!!!!!! Be warned however if you are on a diet as with this around, you wouldn't be able to stop eating!

Note: This restaurant tends to be quite crowded over the weekends so be sure to come early or to make reservations beforehand unless you don't mind waiting!

DTF's Sweet & Sour Soup!
Smile 2011-10-02 (Related Review)
Din Tai Fung ( Somerset )
On a recent visit to Din Tai Fung, my friends and I ordered many dishes and I'll be reviewing the Sweet and Sour Soup in this review.

This was our first time trying the Sweet and Sour Soup. At first, we all felt that it was a tad bland and that it needed more oomph. After adding the condiments provided such as vinegar, chilli and black pepper, the taste improved significantly and we couldn't get enough of it to the point that we had to order an additional bowl of it!!

So for those of you who do try the Sweet & Sour Soup at DTF and find it bland, do not dismiss it! Just add the condiments provided and you'll be back often for more of it smile

XIAO LONG BAOS!!!!
Smile 2011-10-02
Din Tai Fung ( Somerset )
This very first time that I visited Din Tai Fung, I was skeptical. Having heard many great reviews about their food, especially the Xiao Long Baos, I decided to give it a try. I went with a group of friends who had never stepped foot in Din Tai Fung prior to this visit with the exception of one friend who was always raving about DTF!

We ordered many dishes but I'll only be reviewing the Xiao Long Baos here.

When the Xiao Long Baos finally arrived at our table, my friend was literally hyperventilating as she absolutely loves XLB's. However, I was hesitant at first to try it. Afterall, I'm not much a fan of pork. The XLB's are enveloped by a soft skin and packed with juicy, savoury meat within.

The moment I bit into the XLB and the juices squirted and flowed into my mouth, I knew I was in heaven. The meat was very juicy and had the right chewiness to it. My friend was right about how once you pop the first XLB in your mouth, you just can't resist but to continue popping more in!

I ended up eating a grand total of 10 XLB's and even though I was too full after the meal, it was well worth it and I was already planning on when to visit DTF again! Definitely one of the indulgent food I've tried up to date!

   Heavenly balls of goodness! :D

Meatballs
Smile 2012-03-30
Ikea Café ( Alexandra )
It was my first time trying Ikea's meatballs which I've heard many good things about.
The first thing I noticed was that the portion was very generous for the price.

They were also very generous when I asked for more gravy.
The gravy complemented the meatballs really well and the meatballs were very chewy yet succulent.

Definitely a very filling meal that's worth it!

Nasi Padang
Smile 2012-03-06
Kampong Nasi Padang - Makan Place ( Clementi )
On this certain day, they didn't have my favourite fried chicken so I ordered curry chicken instead, an egg and potato cutlet.

The curry chicken was very tender and bursting with flavour. Very yummy though they could have improved it by removing the layer of fats and skin.
The egg was delicious though a tad bit too salty.
The potato cutlet was too cold and soggy this time round though and hence wasn't very yummy sad

Overall, the food here is above average and the staff is very friendly too!
The food comes at very reasonable pricing and the portions are generous!
I dare say this is the best Nasi Padang stall I've patronized lol
