Walnut Rocky Road
Smile 2011-10-03

Swensen's ( Clementi )
To satisfy our craving for dessert, my friend and I visited Clementi Mall's Swensens and decided upon their Walnut Rocky Road which looked very tempting in the menu.

When it was finally served, we were so impatient to dig in as it smelt and looked so good!! It definitely was up to our expectations and was indeed mouth watering.

The scoop of Sticky Chewy Chocolate ice cream was generous and it went well with Chocolate Walnut Pie which was drizzled with Butterscotch Cream sauce and marshmallows as well as the almonds and chocolate chips served.

However we were a little disappointed as the base of the pie was a little too burnt as compared to my previous experiences.

Royal Chocolate Cake
Smile 2011-10-03

Secret Recipe ( Telok Blangah )
Being a huge fan of desserts, I'm always on the lookout for new places I can try out or new selection from my favourite dessert shops.

I've been to Secret Recipe a handful of times and have never been disappointed by their cakes! Their slices are very huge and generous, enough to be shared between two people and very worth it for it's reasonable price!

On this particular visit to Secret Recipe, I chose their Royal Chocolate cake as it looked too good! From the display itself, I could tell that this cake was going to be a huge hit with me and I was too right!

There were white chocolate bits on top of the chocolatey cake and when I took the first bite, I knew I was in love! The chocolate was rich but not to the point of being overpowering.

Definitely a must try!

Cheeeeesecake
Smile 2011-10-03

Secret Recipe ( Dhoby Ghaut )
For my friend's birthday a while back, we headed to Secret Recipe at Dhoby Ghaut.

Among all the desserts we had there that day, we loved the Strawberry Cheesecake the most.

I'm not a huge fan of cheesecake but this was really to my liking. The strawberry wasn't too thick or overpowering and went very well with the cheesecake.

Waffle + Kaya Ice Cream
Smile 2011-10-02 (Related Review)

The Daily Scoop (TDS) ( Clementi )
During our school lunch break recently, my friend and I decided to visit The Daily Scoop to have desserts for lunch!

My friend ordered their waffle with kaya ice cream which required a waiting time of about 10 minutes as the waffle was freshly made then and there.

I've to say that this is the best waffle I've had as it was toasted very well and was just the right crispiness. The waffle went very well with the kaya ice cream and it was definitely different but nonetheless, a good combination. If you're a huge fan of kaya toasts, this will definitely be a must try! Think about warm, crispy waffles with cold kaya ice cream smile

Perfect for any day!

Chocolate Brownie + Salted Mr Brown ice cream
Smile 2011-10-02

The Daily Scoop (TDS) ( Clementi )
During my lunch break in school recently, my friend and I went to The Daily Scoop at Sunset Way to have dessert for lunch!

I knew that I had wanted to order the brownie the moment I laid my eyes on it but I couldn't decide on which ice cream flavour to choose and so, I asked for a recommendation and was introduced to Salted Mr Brown ice cream which is a salty-sweet chocolatey concoction.

There have been instances, albeit few, where I would taste something for the first time and be speechless and have that glow in my eyes. This was one of those instances!!

The sweetness of the chocolatey brownie went so incredibly well with the saltiness of the ice cream! They both balanced each other out perfectly and it's definitely one of the best combinations I've ever tried! Usually I would feel jelat after having half a brownie but for this case, I just couldn't get enough of it!

Be sure to try this combination if you ever visit The Daily Scoop! It sure wouldn't disappoint!!

Drinks at TGIF! (Ultimate Mudslide)
Smile 2011-10-02

T.G.I. Friday’s ( Orchard )
A couple of weekends back, my friend and I caught up with each other over drinks at TGIF@Heeren.

I ordered an Ultimate Mudslide which comprises Kahlua, vodka, Bailey's and ice cream. If that doesn't already sound appealing, the smell and taste of it would take you to a whole new level! It was really chocolatey with just the right amount of alcohol in it.

I loved it so much that half my drink was gone in just mere minutes before I realised that I had forgotten to take a picture of it in the beginning when it looked really good! Overall, it was a perfect combi and definitely one of my top 3 favourite drinks!!

DTF's Sweet & Sour Soup!
Smile 2011-10-02 (Related Review)

Din Tai Fung ( Somerset )
On a recent visit to Din Tai Fung, my friends and I ordered many dishes and I'll be reviewing the Sweet and Sour Soup in this review.

This was our first time trying the Sweet and Sour Soup. At first, we all felt that it was a tad bland and that it needed more oomph. After adding the condiments provided such as vinegar, chilli and black pepper, the taste improved significantly and we couldn't get enough of it to the point that we had to order an additional bowl of it!!

So for those of you who do try the Sweet & Sour Soup at DTF and find it bland, do not dismiss it! Just add the condiments provided and you'll be back often for more of it smile

XIAO LONG BAOS!!!!
Smile 2011-10-02

Din Tai Fung ( Somerset )
This very first time that I visited Din Tai Fung, I was skeptical. Having heard many great reviews about their food, especially the Xiao Long Baos, I decided to give it a try. I went with a group of friends who had never stepped foot in Din Tai Fung prior to this visit with the exception of one friend who was always raving about DTF!

We ordered many dishes but I'll only be reviewing the Xiao Long Baos here.

When the Xiao Long Baos finally arrived at our table, my friend was literally hyperventilating as she absolutely loves XLB's. However, I was hesitant at first to try it. Afterall, I'm not much a fan of pork. The XLB's are enveloped by a soft skin and packed with juicy, savoury meat within.

The moment I bit into the XLB and the juices squirted and flowed into my mouth, I knew I was in heaven. The meat was very juicy and had the right chewiness to it. My friend was right about how once you pop the first XLB in your mouth, you just can't resist but to continue popping more in!

I ended up eating a grand total of 10 XLB's and even though I was too full after the meal, it was well worth it and I was already planning on when to visit DTF again! Definitely one of the indulgent food I've tried up to date!

   Heavenly balls of goodness! :D

Black Pepper Seafood Pasta
Smile 2011-10-02

Swensen's ( Orchard )
Taking a break from shopping in Ion, my friends and I decided to head to Swensens when the hunger pangs finally kicked in.

We ordered quite a few dishes but I'll be reviewing the Black Pepper Seafood Pasta.

The Black Pepper Seafood Pasta is served with fish fillet, clams, crabsticks and of course, comes in a generous serving of black pepper sauce!

The ingredients served were in a generous portion and I felt full and satisfied after just eating 3/4 of the pasta.

Will definitely be heading back for more!

Fondue!
Smile 2011-10-02

Swensen's ( City Hall )
Being someone who absolutely loves desserts, my friend and I visited Swensens at Marina Square recently and decided upon the Chocolate Fondue.

The Chocolate Fondue came with 5 different ice cream flavours; Sticky Chewy Chocolate, Strawberry, Thin Mint, Almond Mocha Fudge and lastly, Cookies and Cream. Also, there were cherries, strawberries, bananas, wafers, marshmallows and chocolate profiteroles.

The fondue most certainly did not disappoint with it's right thickness and taste. However, I wish that the flavours of the ice cream could be chosen by the customer instead as my friend and I are not fans of Mint or Strawberry ice cream. However other than not having the option of choosing the ice cream flavours, the ingredients served were in generous portions and went really well when dipped in the chocolate fondue.
