After eating at saveur last week, the angmokia has been craving to eat at TFS since.. we didnt come for abt a year and he has such nostalgia abt france in this place.. small things like serving wine in a carafe (between a glass and bottle), having a bottle of water for u to refill your own glass on your table, the design of the place.. brings some fond memories to the homesick frenchboy. Anyway, he was making an excuse to come here to 'celebrate Bastille day"--the french national day. =)

We took the 3 course meal which cost $36.80 each. I didnt really wanted dessert but he ordering just a main and a started would have cost arnd the same so i just went with it.

For me:
Starter- French Onion Soup- a little salty but still tasty nonetheless, and i like the fact that they put your cheese on toast on the side instead of dumping it into the soup before they serve you, leaving it soggy. This way i can enjoy the bread the way i like it.

Main- the boring me would just take fish since i dun really eat red meat or duck,. Not very worth it i would say. since i dun like mash too. But thats probably the best i could get for myself. I remembered years ago i love this signature dish of theirs which was a steamed dory patty scovering a whole lot of sauteed spinach under it.. was super good and healthy but its no longer on the menu. =( I wish they bring it back!

Desserts- Giant Profiterole! This is one of their signature.. the last time we came we had the cheese platter becoz we were too full for sinful desserts.. this time, since i was frustrated from my small mains i went ahead to order this. You really need to set aside calories for this if u r eating alone! I think the worse is actually the huge serving of vanilla icecream in it.. probably 2 good scoops of it.. but they melt really fast so eat it quickly! we really made a tasty mess of it!

For angmokia:
Starter: Pork pate. As u know i wouldnt say i like it.. was abit too raw porky smell and taste for me but look slike a perfect serving to start your meal with small gherkins and 2 slices of baguette

Mains: tenderloin was requested to be medium done but looked quite bloody for me. Angmokia knew this from past experience so it was exactly as he had expected. I tried the sauteed potatoes and it was fragrantly crispy on parts of it. I must prefer this to my mash!

Dessert: He took the chocolate cake and since they stated it was supposed to be dark chocolate i had some high expectations of it. The cake didnt quite meet my standards-- too light, too sweet.. and overwhelmed by the large scoop of vanilla ice cream.

The whole meal cost abt $100 ( i think they have increased quite a lot since we came the last time), abit heartache.. but as he said it.. "celebrate bastille day!"

It was a rather impromptu friday night out and the angmokia and his male colleagues chose this place.. my god this is burger haven! lol! the menu is very interesting, let me explain: YOu have one page where u can order the burgers that they have designed and the other page is one where u can customise your own burgers according to the type of meat, type of bun, toppings such as tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, jalapenos... and sauce. I wanted to customise but there were just oo many choice i settled for the holy caeser.

1. Holy caeser($12) is abit like a grilled chicken caeser salad in a burger. The chicken was really huge n nicely grilled.. very tasty! and even though it is big i dont feel really guilty to eat it as it was not a patty of minced meat(with fats!) but rather a real chicken thigh meat. All burgers come with thick cut potatoes as well.. i couldnt eat it.. or rather.. was too guilty to eat it! Or it had a thick slice of bacon in it too.. which the angmokia happily added to his fat basta*d burger..

2. Cheese royale($12) is classic cheese burger.. as you can read from the menu.. lol

3. Fat Bast*rd is the really superbly sinful burger.. almost sacrilegious i must say! Even for the angmokia i think he felt abit too bad after that to have eaten it.. its double beef patty with bacon and fried eggs.. can u even imagine? It cost $18, the most expensive on the menu.. but i think if u compare it to other gourmet burgers places like handburgers or bergs this one is the most worth it.. but im not sure the cheap price is worth all that fat and colesterol.

$. The elvis is really a different animal on its own. I'm not sure how it taste but its a brown oat bun, with peanut butter, banana and a pork patty inside. Weird huh? It take a rather unique person to order it too. Lol. I didnt try this one but according to my friend he said 'it's something.. u guys shld try."

Im sure theres a next time. =)

I walked past here a few times during lunch time and its often super long queue! We were looking for dinner ideas and knowing angmokia is craving french food again so i suggested here. Service was great that they took down our numbers so that they could call us back when there were seats. Thumbs up! Staff were friendly too! But the place is abit too noisy if u are looking for a date place.

Anyway after taking a look at the menu.. i realised the reason for the long queue.. if u dun really mind ordering high class food.. u can get a bowl of basic pasta (like aglio olio) at about $5. Seriously! Even in food court these days pasta probably cost more than that! So we went ahead to order starters, bread, wine and the premium dishes. lol

I had the salad starter which was very very tasty! A tad oily from the duck but very yummy and im not even usually eating duck. The duck was fragrant and crispy and doesnt taste 'gamey' at all. *slurps

soup was so-so with more potato taste than leek so it wasnt spectacular.

I premium menu only consisted of 2 items and it was the one who ordered. I had the monkfish-a white fish with a very rich and chewy texture. You can really tell its a good quality fish.. a bit more chewy than cod and less soft with more bite. The cream sauce was just nice and not overwhelming.. nice to mop it up with bread.

When angmokia's tenderloin came his first expression was.. OK it was very 'atas' looking.. with carrot puree design on the plate.. hahaha.. but i think we both agreed the meat portion was quite good for the price. $22 or @28? Cant really remember..

One bad thing was the wine tasted horrid.. and to add salt to wound they serve italian wine in a french restaurant to a french! lol.. sacrilegious!

I would recommend this to friends and if u go please do not just order the pasta because it is the cheapest dish around. Try the other items! I probably would not go back soon due to the lack of variety.

Was looking for a place nearby our place to eat on may day after the angmo kia had finished some work and chanced upon this place. We often eat at the thai restaurant few steps away from here but grew tired of it after they decreased their serving size and increased their price. So we had a brief look at Zenso's menu and found that they had quite a variety and price was cheap for the type of food they were serving so we had a shot at it.

I wasnt expecting too much as the price was really cheap for what they were serving.. to give u an idea, their menu includes zichar, thai and japanese bentos. Prices were ranging between 5 to 10 per dish. Major downside was the super long waiting time for such a small restuarant.. i guess they probably only had one cook and the variety of dishes may have made it hard for them to be efficient in cooking.

Anyway my bf ordered the stir fry vermicelli with chicken and actually i think the vermicilli wasnt too bad! a tad oily (which is common) but had the smokiness of the wok.. but the chicken didnt taste very nice though.. another good thing was it actually had greens! lol. Which many places scrimp of so we were quite delighted by this..

I waited an extra 15 mins after my bf's dish for my salad(!) I think we had waited for 30 mins for the first dish to come.. so i waited arnd 45 mins for my fried fish salad.. though serving was small but the battered fish was quite delightfully crisp and the spicy sauce was very very good n not heavy at all! THough on hind sight i suspect i could be eating more batter than fish but still.. i cld foresee myself ordering it again..

Another good thing is it closes at 11 pm on weekdays so it adds to another late night dinner place we have! hooray!

Next time i will try their coffee... they have quite an extensive menu.. =) Shall update again!

Wah this place is simply.. paradise! Lol. Ok forgive the exaggeration but its been a loooooooooooooong time since im so satisfied and impressed with a place- great environment, superb food with no frustrating proportions, great great service, pretty interior designplus no pressure to rush... everything is just great for hanging out..but then again i didnt visit it on a weekend so that could be the place.. but other than that the place is really 2 thumbs up for me!

Ok firstly, I had bookmarked their website on my browser and we had been wanting to go but coz we dun drive n its at the faaaaaaar end of east we had the inertia... but becoz we had a 4 day weekend I finally suggesed we cycle there from east coast.. which is a good idea actually (if its not raining).

So we took abr 1.5 hours to cycle from east coast and the place is really just a bit further down from the village hotel so its not so difficult to find. We had skipped breakfast to eat here.. =P so i must first say we had ordered quite alot for 2 persons.. I had done my research n know that their portobello fries and truffle fries were must-try so i had chosen the lesser of the 2 evil. hehe. Wah its superbly good !! the portobello was so juicy and full of its natural goodness that u really dun need the truffled mayo but its special too.. portions are not big though.. just nice for 2 to share.. please order this if u go!!

The second side we had was the wings.. which was so-so.. so i wun really recommend it for the price.. and had 3 parts of drumlets n wings each.. The mains are the best... I had read before that their waygu burger was good so i told the angmo kia to take it but he was afraid its too much so he took the reuben sandiwich instead.. which was still wonderful! they are not stingy on the pastrami at all, and it had a small fresh rocket salad on the side.. mine was super wonderful.. with melting cheese, juicy roma toamatoes and ham.. was the cheese was really melting.. and wats more, i think actually 1 portion is good enough for 2 person to share.. i had doggy-bagged my last piece of sandwish.. the size was abt the length of a full baguette cut into 3 parts.. so imagine.. Mine came with the potatoe salad which i didnt touch (too much carbs but angmo kia ate half the portion).

The other thing that was a bit disappointing for me other than the wongs was the mocha. Being a huge coffee fan, I must say the coffee was abit too acidic for my liking and even the chocolate syrup wasnt able to mask it..

A word abt the great service- the restaurants has a few areas: restaurant, cafe, outdoors.. we sat at the cafe area first.. and after my bf had wanted to smoke n take a coffee outside so we requested to move and the guy who served us (I think fillipino, but no nametag or i wld write in to the boss for bouquets =)) did it so happily and helped us to move, even bringing us new glasses or water...arh.... good service.. i miss it in singapore.. I can tell u even some hotels dun do this.. so kudos!

The setting of the place is really really pretty with all sorts of vintage stuff... If i drove n stayed in the east this will definitely be my hangout!

We spent abt $90 in total- mocha, pineapple juice, double espresso, portobello fries, wings, 2 sandwiches. But remember, the huge portions for the mains. =)
