Fish head soup Smile Dec 29, 2014
Categories : Hawker Centre | Chinese Soup

Fish head soup $4. Rice 50cents.
This was surprisingly quite tasty. The fish had its natural sweetness and the soup was also slightly sweet and lightly flavoured but not bland. Fish was also tender and wasn't difficult to get it off the bones. There was no fishy smell in the soup as well even though the soup is the clear kind. If you like fish soup, you can give it a try although it's not the best!

Chicken rice Smile Dec 28, 2014

Categories : Malaysian | Food Court | Chicken Rice

Went rather late to get supper here and by the time, they did not have any chicken rice balls anymore so we settled for the normal chicken rice not in the shape of the rice balls. The rice was rather fragrant, not oily/lumpy. The chicken was smooth and tender and the soy sauce gravy made the chicken taste even better. Price for this was $5 which was reasonable considering that the chicken they gave wasn't little. Overall, it's worth a try smile

Ramen + don Smile Dec 27, 2014

Categories : Japanese | Ramen

Men-ichi has undergone a revamp (located at the japanese food street stretch) since my last visit. I didn't quite like the harsh lightings but the decorations were pretty unique. Service was on the slow side.

Salmon Teriyaki ramen $14.90: Salmon was soft, moist, and nicely cooked. The teriyaki sauce wasn't salty and complemented the salmon well. The soup was light-tasting and I felt it lacked the richness of a ramen broth. Ramen was al dente, much to my liking.

Cha Shu don (<$10). Cha shu was moist, tender and not very fatty. The meat had also absorbed the essence of the gravy. The gravy also complemented well with the plain rice which wasn't dry/lumpy.

Thai food Smile Dec 26, 2014

Categories : Thai | Restaurant

Phad thai: kway tiao was slightly sticky, chewy, but it got dry after a while. Portion was also comfortable for 2 pax. It was also well-flavoured.
Tom Yum soup clear: The tom yum flavour was sufficiently spicy and sour. I ate the phad thai together with the tom yum soup and they tasted good together too. However, the sotong was a little rubbery, perhaps overcooked.
Chicken wing stuffed with minced meat was a little oily, juicy and minced meat stuffed in the wings were fine and well seasoned.

Dessert was mango sticky rice, served unconventionally. Serving seemed small but just nice for 2 pax after a filling meal. The sticky rice wasn't overly sweet and the mango was very riped, sweet, and juicy.

Overall, it's worth a try smile

The Lokal at Neil Road OK Dec 26, 2014   (Related Review)

Cafe Latte, served with a sweet biscuit with hints of caramel (if my memory did not fail me).

Not sure why but their cafe latte was served in a piccolo latte sized glass. Check out that beautiful foamy surface and latte art! Taste wise, their cafe latte was slightly bland and too milky for my liking. I thought that since it was served in such a small cup, the coffee taste would be stronger but I was wrong. While I felt that the coffee was average, CC loved its acidity and didn't felt that the caffeine kick was weak.

Burger with turkey bacon and egg. I wouldn't pay full price for this as I didn't felt it was worth it. Nothing impressive either. Egg yolk wasn't completely running but burger was fluffy and ingredients were fresh.

Roast chicken ciabatta: Chicken was tender and moist but I would appreciate if portion of chicken was more (listed price was $18 I think). The avocado was slightly sweet, evenly mashed, and had a wonderfully refreshing taste.

Friendly service, hippy ambience, nice deco.
