Fruit Paradise ( Dhoby Ghaut )

TGIF with my girl friends was a meet up date at Fruit Paradise smile
We decided to order two portions of curry rice to share among the three of us as we wanted to leave room for desserts!
Heard that Fruit Paradise is famous for their tarts so it's a definite must try lol

The curry rice that we ordered are tofu hamburger and the combo set which consists of fried ebi prawns with two chicken karaage tongue
Initially we thought it looks quite a big portion for one person.
However when the food arrives, our verdict was the two portions of curry rice servings are just the usual servings with a bigger plate that's all shocked
The curry is my favourite sweet Japanese curry and overall the food tastes great lol

Next up we ordered a Hokkaido Milk Pudding that looks quite good from the menu!
The pudding was very smooth and not too overly sweet, we love the outer crust puff too! tongue
Then we had the yummy mixed berry chocolate tart smile
The chocolate happens to be my favourite kind, sweet with a tint of bitterness lol
And i love the crust of this pie plus the fruits complements the chocolate tart so it's great for people who likes to balance the sweetness!

Overall i'll recommend this place for dinner and desserts or just for desserts too is great!
Looking forward to try other tarts they have smile

Graffiti Cafe ( Somerset )
Dinner with my bestie was a simple affair that night smile
We were shopping around the orchard area so we decide to have something cheaper and nice for dinner to save money lol
I love the graffiti cafe!
It's one of the cheap makan places in orchard!
We were having some pontian craving hence this is the one of their best place to have their wanton noodles at onny $3.50!
Plus we each get a free bowl of soup with their famous wanton!
The queue that day's ok, we just had to wait like 5 mins for them to call our number to collect our food smile
Serving portions quite good, plenty of cha siew and green vegetables!
Best of all, we love their fried wantons!
Very crispy tongue
Would definitely recommend everyone to have their meal there if they've yet to try out this place!

Canele Pattisserie Chocolaterie ( Dhoby Ghaut )

That' how i spent my Xmas Eve, having some last minute shopping done and settling down for a tea break before heading home early!
This was my 2nd time, trying Canele.
The first was quite a long time ago...
My friend was quite hungry and decide to order their crepe to try!
She had the Sweet Crepes as shown in the second photo.
It was most exciting when her order arrives, we couldn't take our eyes off it tongue
It consists of Caramelized apples with toffee, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream & filo pastry! lol
I'm quite sure the standing upright things on her crepe are the filo pastry which tastes like biscuit?
And the crepe is so soft!
As for mine, i got myself one of their designer cakes!
It is called Le Chocolat Croustillant (Crispy Chocolate Cake).
This is super recommend by me!
It's a whimsical chocolate indulgence, using luscious Vanini chocolate mousse layered between a crispy chocolate praline & opulent Gianduja cream, surrounded by a wall of divine dark chocolate glaze & crushed hazelnuts.
At this point, you guys reading my review should be drooling?
Please do go try out the desserts that we had or you can even attempt other yummy treats.
Other than the sweet stuff, they have savoury items too!
Go try lol

Pizza for picnic @ Marina Barrage
Smile 2013-03-06

Domino's Pizza ( Sembawang )
Before our picnic date at the Marina Barrage, we ordered Domino's Pizza online and went to picked it up at the Sembawang's outlet!
We ordered a Hawaiian Paradise with Onion Rings as sides!
We got the Classic Hand Tossed Crust which is one of their unique Domino Pizza Crust. lol
I love their Hawaiian pizza, there's the classic cheese, ham and pineapple bits tongue
And they have chicken breast bits in it too, making it super worth it to order this smile
All of us agreed on Hawaiian pizza being the most tasty and classic pizza for everyone!
Their onion rings was ok, nothing really special about it but all the same very tasty.
I'm looking forward to the next picnic date with my girlfriends so we can try other pizzas and sides they have!

McDonald's ( Chinatown )

I just love to have McDonald's for Chinese New Year Season.
This is the only time i get my curly fries fix lol
And it's time for the prosperity meal!!!!
Although it is slightly pricier than the normal value meal, but to me this is totally worth it and the season to indulge!
Love the black pepper sauce for the prosperity beef burger smile
And the beef for this patty is so much nicer and more tender than that of the normal cheeseburger!!!
And it's bigger, yum yum!
The twister fries are simply awesome, not sure what they coated on the potato to make it that nice but it's really just simply delicious tongue
But i don't really like the prosperity McFIZZ!
I think it's orange juice plus sprite which makes it taste funny to me, i would prefer just orange juice though shocked
But other than that i really enjoyed this meal after half day work smile

Pepper Lunch ( Ang Mo Kio )

This is my first time buying take away from Pepper Lunch.
Usually i prefer to eat there as it'll be pipping hot but i was rushing to get home to do more spring cleaning!
I always cannot resist the smell of the sizzling Pepper Lunch, yummy! smile
My friend told me that now they're having this new Salmon & Chicken Combo Pepper Rice lol
I decide to order this so that i can have best of both worlds.
As such there was quite an amount of people as i had to wait awhile before it's my turn to order and collect my rice.
It was placed in a cute little round plastic bowl with lid.
I'll say it's quite ok for the price of $6.90 for the rice, corn, salmon and chicken!
And not forgetting the honey brown sauce which is my must have to pour over the rice tongue
This dish is simple delicious and i'm super loving the generous amount of ingredients especially the salmon!!!! chopstick
I'll definitely buy again, or best still to have dinner there before this deal ends! (just in case if it's only on going for CNY)

Astons Express ( Paya Lebar )

My friend J has recently moved to the Paya Lebar area and i decide to meet her near her place for some shopping nearby and dinner after work.
I remembered that there's this Astons at the Singpost food court so i brought J to try.
She has never tried Ashtons before so i told her this is a highly recommended Western food that is a must try.
After all, the trend of all this self choosing of hot and cold sides started from the rise of Ashtons tongue
It's been some time since i ate so i was super excited for those eat till you drop portions that i recalled from my last visit smile
I must say great minds think alike so both of order the grilled fish with herbs (a healthy choice in my opinion to feel less sinful) lol
And i was really surprised that they have a new side dish, mac and cheese!
Both of us being cheese lovers, ordered that.

Price was quite ok, service quite fast too.
The portion i find it quite normal sized, not how i recalled it should be.
But the fish is superb, fresh and grilled to perfection.
And the mac and cheese, couldn't get enough of it.
Mine's the one with the potato salad and i love how fresh it is.

Overall a satisfying dinner for a TGIF smile

Dessert time with Friends :)

Dessert Bowl ( Serangoon )

And this is where we went after Chomp Chomp Dinner!
Again, H recommended this place which is near Chomp Chomp, within walking distance.
Perhaps great minds think alike, we bumped into H's sister and her friends again.
Earlier they had finished their dinner and left.
Small world it is, both sisters did not inform each other about coming here.
Hence we were quite lucky again at getting the seats of H's sister as they were just finishing up their dessert as we came.

I really love the cosy setting of the place and the menu is so cute haha, with a baby face for cover smile
H highly recommended the durian paste so we decide to order one with another hot favourite the mango pomelo!
Waiting time is quite reasonable and fast and boy, the durian paste really is 真材实料!!!! lol
Look at the photo of that paste with generous amount of durian meat given tongue
And the mango pomelo has a lot of ingredients in it too!

The taste of the durian paste is very rich without being very overpowering and the mango pomelo is very refreshing and just great for Singapore's tropical weather!
Not regrets trying this, definitely mist try others too next time.
There seems to be plenty of selection in the menu smile

Chomp Chomp Hai Wei Yuan Seafood BBQ ( Serangoon )

Saturday nights are best spend chilling with friends and having delicious food!
Me and M decides to meet up with H for dinner as we've been craving for Chomp Chomp's delicious food for sometime!
Luckily H's sister was there too dinning with her own group of friends so they managed to save us a seat beside their table for us when we reached there.
At Chomp Chomp's, i've always felt the food is fantastic!
The area has some of the best makan stalls in SIngapore all at that spot, hence it's always almost crowded with people especially at meal timings!
Even the BBQ Seafood has a few stalls and we decide to order from the same store as H's sister did.
I would say the wait would be quite a while around 5-10 mins due to the volume of people and orders.
The price is considered standard and reasonable at $12 for this smile
And after splitting among us 3, each of us pays $4 only which is definitely a great deal for this stingray!
It was very fresh and fleshy, a lot of meat tongue
And the sambal taste when you eat together with it...SHIOK!!!!
For those whom never tried Sambal Stingray before, you don't know what you're missing out tongue

Frolick ( Somerset )
I always think that there's room for dessert however full you are tongue
So there we have it, both me and my friend is in the mood for something!
My friend K suggested Frolick since both of us had never tried the yogurt there before.
We were spoilt for choices.
We were undecided on the toppings and the flavour of the yogurt!
Both the original and grape looks really good lol
In the end we decide to try out the grape one and for toppings we got those mixed jellies that's usually put in bubble tea tongue
We got the bigger sized one to share between us.
Even though i've eaten yogurt before at such similar stores though rarely, but i dare say this is one of the nicest i had so far smile
The grape yogurt is super nice and would be great even if we ate it alone without topping!
And the jellies are very nice, making the whole yogurt a tad too sweet which is fine with me.
However my friend finds it a little too sweet smile
Overall, i'll definitely visit again soon for another try perhaps with other toppings! lol

Pepper Lunch Express - Koufu ( Somerset )

I've always loved to have Pepper Lunch at the Koufu at Cathay Cineleisure!
There's always a little queue and the smell of the sizzling food always wharf to my nose as i step in to the place.
And i know there's no doubt that i'm going to order that! smile
However this is the first time i decide to try their curry series.
Guess i was influence by a guy in front who ordered something curry!
It seems to me at that moment that i should try something different from what i usually ordered tongue
I got myself a Sizzling Curry Rice with hamburger Steak that comes with an egg too! lol
I was super excited when i carried my food over to my table.
However a con of eating Pepper Lunch is the smell that may got on your clothes in the process but to me, it's all worth it!
Anyway i started to slowly pour the curry over my food and boy, the smell was even more overpowering!
So hungry just writing this down again lol
I tasted a little while i mixed my food and decide to pour all the curry as Japanese curry are usually sweet and not spicy smile
Overall i would say the curry hamburger set tastes great and i looked forward to trying other curry set soon!

Din Tai Fung ( Bishan )

It's always a long queue at Din Tai Fung and this time round it's no surprise when we faced the same situation sad
We would get a queue number from the staff and would hand around the entrance first.
The time spent waiting would be used to decide what we shall have for dinner later on.
They provide you with the order paper to fill in your orders first so you can send in your ready orders once there's seats available!
Both of us decide to split the Fried Rice with Shrimps & Eggs and Steamed Pork Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao) between the two of us.
One of Din Tai Fung's signature dish is the Xiao Long Bao which i think it's a definite must try when dining there tongue
Lucky we got a seat quite fast and have our orders sent in.
There was about less than 10mins wait while the food arrives!
First up is the Xiao Long Bao which is served by the chef and is piping hot, yummy!
The moment i picked it up, i have to be gentle with it so i won't poke open the dumpling skin!
It's very shiok to eat it in one bite and have the succulent soup and meat taste burst in your mouth!!!! lol lol
And the Fried Rice with Shrimps & Eggs is super tasty too, one of the best fried rice i had.
It was very well fried and you can taste the freshness of the prawns.
I believe it's crystal prawns being used that has the QQ taste smile
Overall it's always great to unwind on a Monday with Din Tai Fung for dinner!

Start off the day with the right toast!
Smile 2013-01-27

Ya Kun Kaya Toast ( Woodlands )

Ya Kun, as always is one of my favourite breakfast choice of all times.
Something about that delectable toast makes me keep wanting for more!
The smell of that freshly baked toast always attract my nose and captured my heart and stomach at the same instance lol
As usual, stepping into Ya Kun brings about the olden days nostalgic feel smile
Not that that's a bad thing, it's always nice to settle onto the wooden stool and grab a marble traditional style coffee table to settle into comfortably!
When ordering, it's definitely nice to chat a little and exchange simple morning greetings with the aunties working there.
And it's great to know that while my order is being taken into and set the bread on toasting heat, I get to carry back with me my boiled eggs and cup of coffee.
It's my first time deciding to try their coffee since I'm usual a tea drinker except for ice coffee.
So that day, i surprise myself too when i heard me ordering the coffee shocked
The first thing i did was to gently give my coffee a few stirs before i tried it to ensure that the sugar or condensed milk is being evenly spread.
I'll have to say i took a tiny sip before allowing myself a bigger sip since i couldn't taste much with the small sip, silly me!
The coffee was good I'll say, aroma taste of that coffee allows me to believe that i definitely made the correct choice that morning tongue
Next, I'll have to jump into my eggs.
I love to crack, mix & stir and put a good amount of sweet sauce.
Usually, i'm a soya sauce person but only at Ya Kun, I'll put in the sweet dark soya smile
To me, i love my eggs as this half boiled kind so that it's cooked but yet runny yoke at the same time!
I was still savoring my eggs when the kind auntie brought over my bread and took back the number block that they usually gives customers so that they can identify us lol
I can't wait to reach for my hot toasted bread the moment my plate was put down (See my second photo for evidence of hungry me)! chopstick
The bread i realized, have to be eaten freshly toasted.
This is something that I always insist upon, to have hot toasted bread tongue
I especially hate it when my bread turns cold and hard mad
So my usual practice is i drink a little tea or coffee in this case, eat my eggs till my bread gets to me and I'll definitely eat both the bread and eggs at the same time (Again, see that photo for that hungry lass)!
Best of both worlds lol
It's always nice to know that Ya Kun serves the butter in slices, on top of my kaya spread in between the toast.
That signature sweet tasting kaya, plus the heavenly butter in melting process when you bite into the crisp toast is just a so simple gesture that gives the biggest taste buds boost bowl bowl bowl
I hope you're hungry when you read this as I'm definitely is craving for Ya Kun again now! tongue
I'm rounding up this review the same as I'm rounding up that coffee of mine, leaving you wanting for more.
If you've not tried Ya Kun before, you honestly don't know what you are missing out!

Kazokutei ( Dhoby Ghaut )
I was feeling quite Monday Blue at work so i contacted my classmate A whether she wants to meet me up for dinner before class at 7pm!
It's actually quite a rush since i end work at 5.30pm so i met her up at Kazokutei's entrance smile
Service was quite fast that day as there wasn't much dinner crowd yet lol
I ordered the ebi omu rice and A got a set which consists of sushi, udon and fried chicken!
I really like my omu rice, the rice inside is fried rice with some mixed vegetables and tomato sauce tongue
And it even comes with a small bowl of mushroom soup!
For A's set, she find it ok overall but she don't really likes the fried chicken as she finds it a tad too salty!
Overall would recommend this place as it's still quite cheap as compared to some Japanese Restaurants lol
