Signature Fresh Fruits Green Tea
Smile 2013-04-28

Orange Tea ( Woodlands )

This drink was quite an eye opener for me and my girlfriend. Apparently it is one of their signature drink for this bubble tea stall. Why did i refer it as eye opener is because they actually added real fruits into the drink. It was the first time for us to have a drink where we were given a spoon and a straw. the fruits were cut into cubes. they will seal the drink first then afterwards, you have to break the seal and eat the fruits. It was pretty unique and could act as a little dessert i guess. there was green tea added to the drink so it was not too sour. as a whole, we thought it was kind of refreshing!

a unique combination
Smile 2013-04-27

Canton Paradise ( Dover )

I was pretty surprised to see this dish on the menu. it was a combination of chee cheong fan and you tiao. i found the contrast in texture very interesting. the chee cheong fan is smooth and very chewy while the you tiao is very crispy. when you bite, you first taste the chewiness of the chee cheong fan then experience the crispiness of the you tiao. indeed it was a unique combination. not to mention they have a light sauce to top off the dish. this sauce is sweetish and saltish at the same time. it actually brought out the flavour of the you tiao. indeed very unique!

Squid bibimbap
Smile 2013-04-27

Manna Story ( Jurong East )

My girlfriend wanted to have some korean food so i brought her to Manna Story at Jcube. We like the idea that the sides are free flow. this time round i ordered their Squid bibimbap. the squid was cut into tiny cubes and marinated with some sort of chilli sauce. when mixed with the rice, the squid is pretty hard to find, but every mouth you will definitely taste it. their bibimbap sauce is added on your own, i think it was really good, the sauce was not too thick so it was easy to mix with the rice. as a whole, it was really good.

Iced Caffe Mocha
Smile 2013-04-27

Starbucks ( Woodlands )

I decided to give the Starbucks Frappe a skip and order their starbucks on ice series. I got myself an Iced Caffe Mocha. I simply like it that they topped the drink with plenty whipped cream. it gives it a creamier taste. the mocha was pretty milky and not too sweet. i like the strong coffee flavour, can taste the rich flavour of their beans. i think iced version is not too bad, you will not get a brain freeze if you take a big gulp.

korean bento set
Smile 2013-04-27

Dong Dae Mun ( Choa Chu Kang )
I always head to Dong Dae Mun to get their Korean Streets Snacks, however recently i discovered that they sold Bentos as well. All these while I did not notice it cos the menu for their bentos were placecard on top of the glass counters where they store their street snacks. i decided to give it a try. it was very reasonably price in fact, i ordered the Pork Set, for a large portion of meat, they only charged me $3.80. it was a very healthy dish cos they added quite a lot of cabbage into the stir fry meat. the pork was sliced very thinly so it pretty much absorbed the delicious gravy and tasted real good. very mouth watering.

Kway Chap
Smile 2013-04-27

Vegetarian - Yi Jia Coffee Shop ( Choa Chu Kang )

My mother took away the vegetarian Kway Chap for my breakfast. I think it was very cheap and value of money, this large pack for only $2plus. the uncle was very generous with the kway. the soup was not very thick but the flavour was just right, not too salty. they gave a pack of chilli sauce, i just emptied it into the soup. it made the soup taste a little sour, the hotness of the chilli enhanced the flavour of the soup. there were quite a number of vegetarian ingredients in the soup. the ingredients taste pretty good as well.

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf ( Chinatown )

I was walking around chinatown with my parents and we decided to head to chinatown square for a drink and take a break. we settled for the coffee bean and tea leaf. i ordered a medium hazelnut latte to share with my mum. i like the fragrance of the latte, it was very smooth. we ordered the hot version as my mum does not really like cold beverages. i think this hot drink is really good, warms up your tummy. the hazelnut fragrance was not overpowering and went well with the latte. great drink.

Crepe Cake

Paris Baguette ( Orchard )

It was a weekday afternoon and Paris Baguette was not as crowded as it is on weekends so my girlfriend and i decided to head over for a light tea. I let her go order and choose the cake. She came back with this multi-layered crepe cake. apparently we both thought the name was pretty unique, it was called "oh my baby crepe". the crepe cake was really good. it was not too sweet. they did not add a lot of cream in between the crepe layers. as a whole i am satisfied.

SOD Cafe ( Choa Chu Kang )
This branch every Friday 5pm to 7pm got 50% off all of their drinks. As i was pretty early for my appointment, i decided to get myself a large cup of their SOD ice milk tea. It was so cheap. However i decided to keep my drink till dinner time but the ice cream melted. the drink tasted a lot more milkier. in fact i like the taste like that. the milkier taste came from the melted vanilla ice cream. it made the milk tea taste even smooth and thirst quenching

Ding Tea ( Orchard )

I was filling kind of thirsty so i decided to hop down to Ding Tea to get myself a cup of bubble tea. i was not in the mood to drink any tea beverage so i settled for their honey lemon juice with aloe vera toppings. the honey lemon juice tasted alright to me, the balance of the sweetness from the honey and the acidity from the lemon was just perfect, never once did i feel it was too sweet or sour for me. the aloe vera was very juicy. as a whole it was thirst quenching.

Soup Broth Asia ( City Hall )

Not only does Soup Broth Asia sell those normal soup, they also got sell some hotpots. I decided to try their sumo nabe hotpot. the soup was white in colour. when they served it to me, there was a raw egg in the centre. i broke the raw egg yolk so it would cook faster. there were a lot of ingredients in the soup like chicken, chinese cabbage. the soup tasted very milky but it was simply tasty. it absolutely went well with rice!

Nasi Lemak - Kopitiam ( Choa Chu Kang )

This time i went pretty early, around lunch time so the variety of vegetables were quite a lot. i decided to try their curry vegetables with their fish fillet. to my horror, the curry vegetables were actually pretty spicy. the auntie still help me top my bee hoon with the cury gravy. not wanting to waste the food, i ate it up bit by bit though it was burning in my mouth and stomach. the vegetables were pretty crunchy, not over cooked

I went to ajisen with my girlfriend. i always thought ajisen's speciality is their ramen so i always ordered their ramen. this time round i gave their rice set a chance. i ordered their mapo toufu rice set. it was pretty reasonably charged, $10.90 for a set. you can top up money for drinks and side dishes but i did not. the mapo toufu dish has quite a number of prawns in it. the prawns they used were very fresh and the meat was very succulent.

Hangbok Family - Koufu ( Choa Chu Kang )

It is the first time i came across korean rice cake with korean ramen. normally those food court korean stalls only sell the korean rice cake alone. but for this stall, they sell it together with korean ramen. i have to admit it was pretty pricey, a small portion for $6 but it was unique and delicious. the rice cake sauce was not too spicy, it was sweetish as well. the ramen did not have any seasoning just soaking the rice cake sauce. the rice cake was pretty chewy yet does not stick to your teeth. it was pretty satisfying.
