Fishball Noodle - Yi Jia Coffee Shop ( Choa Chu Kang )

I was stunned when I opened the packet of lor mee which I got my sister to take away for me. it actually looked like fish ball noodles with the lor mee noodles and gravy. There was no fried wanton, ngoh hiang and those fried stuff you find in lor mee. There were only a lot of fish balls. I am not a fan of fish balls and there were only fish ball as the ingredients. I asked my sister if the lady told her anything about replacing the ingredients with fish ball ad my sister said the lady did not. It was so irresponsible of the lady to assume that the customer would be fine with her replacing everything with fish ball. In the end, I only ate the noodles, veg and the bean sprouts. So upsetting.

BAD SERVICE
Cries 2012-07-27

Beverages - Kopi ( Choa Chu Kang )

i am so disappointed with the service at the drinks stall. I stood there really long and nobody bothered to attend to me. there was an auntie just nearby toasting a slice of bread. After about five minutes, she finally ask me what I wanted. I ordered a home made ice lemon tea. upon hearing my order, instead of making my drink, she went back to her toast. The toast don’t even look half done and she kept flipping it front and back, front and back. I reckon it need more time on the grill untouched. Another 2 minutes past and she showed no sign of preparing my drink. I was just about to walk off when another staff came, she took my order. And so I finally got my drink. it was a little too sweet as the lady did not bother to add a lot of ice. So bad service for drinks. But I bet their toast is real good here cos it receives so much attention.

Indonesian - Koufu ( Bukit Batok District )
I ordered the ayam penyet from this stall. it was not very cheap to begin with. The chicken was a tad too dry for me. I know it was deep fried but I think the deep frying process did remove almost all the moisture of the chicken. It was so hard to even finish it. Normally some ayam penyet stalls, they will add some curry sauce on top of the rice for you so it will not be too dry. but this one just serve you plain white rice.

Hungry Jack - Koufu ( Choa Chu Kang )
The western food in this stall is just so popular with the people. Every time I order from them, I have to wait some time for my food to be served. This time I da bao their fried fish with cream sauce. Waited for some time for my food to be prepared. When it was done, the store owner handed me the box, apparently the locking part of the Styrofoam box broke and most of the sauce had spilled out. I handed the box to the owner to ask him to pack it back properly. He took the box from me and ask if I dropped it, the thing was I just took it from him and it was so poorly packed. It took them so long to just put a rubber band over the box. I thought they were nice to add more sauce since most of the sauce had spilled out, but they didn’t! they just emptied away the sauce in the plastic bag and put the food in the same plastic bag. Imagine how OILY the plastic bag was. The entire meal was so upsetting, the spaghetti had little sauce and was so dry and topped with the even dryer fried fish. Such BAD service, took no care in ensuring that the food was packed properly and even said I dropped the box when he just handed me. dun think I will buy from them again.

the lady wanted to charge me $2.50 for a juice
Cries 2012-05-08

Lim Bang Café ( Choa Chu Kang )
The weather was so hot and humid, I decided to get myself a fresh fruit juice from limbang café, wanted to order pear juice but they did not have it. The auntie asked me if I wanted green apple juice. looks like they did not have much fruits so I took it. The auntie went on to ask me if I was willing to pay $2.50 for it. I was pretty stunned and I think it displayed all over my face. I was about to walk away when the auntie called me back and say they have $2 version. I think for one fruit $2 is a little expensive, to think she wanted me to pay $2.50. I accepted the $2 one, as I watch another auntie prepare it, I totally regreted my choice of accepting it. She only squeeze half a cup of juicy, the other half, she kept adding ice and more ice. She added a lot of ice but yet the juice still could not fill the whole cup then she gave up and went to seal it up. When I drank the juice, it was very diluted thanks to the melted ice. I felt so cheated, luckily I was smart to reject the $2.50 cup. I will not patronize them ever again.

Hotpan Delights - Kopitiam ( Jurong East )
I was walking around imm, decided to head to the kopitiam for dinner. Apparently at dinner time, it was not crowded, did not have any problem finding seats at all, even had the chance to select where I wanted to sit.

The hot pans stall called my attention as soon as I walked into the foodcourt. They had this set meals where you get a main dish and soup. I decided to try the Thai style sweet and sour pork set. It came with a mini pot of soup too. They added a lot of solid fuel till the fire was burning very long and very big. For the Thai style sweet and sour pork, it was not really nice. The gravy was so thick that you can feel like sticking to the back of your teeths. It did not go well with the rice as well. The pork was deep fried but there were fat meats among the lean meat and the meat was very dry probably due to the deep frying. The soup was rather tasty and sweet probably because they added carrots and white cabbage. But I was still rather disappointed with it.

Eat at Taipei ( Jurong East )
i went to try out the food at eat at Taipei, their dinner timing start at 6pm and already there is a large crowd outside. I ordered their ji pa, oyster and pig intestine mee sua and oyster omelette. I was very disappointed with the food, the ji pa cost more than five dollars just the portion is very small. Totally not worth the money paid. Then oyster and pig intestine mee sua is rather disappointing to me as well. the mee sua taste like bee hoon that crunchiness. The gravy was not thick enough and they did not provide vinegar and pepper as well. the most disappointing dish of the day was the oyster omelette, when they served it, our hearts just dropped. The picture I took is how they served us, so unappetizing. It is not have enough starch mixture and for authentic Taiwanese oyster omelette, they will added a lot of sauce on top, but this one, they just served on a saucer. I guess they want to make it more Singapore like. The bill was rather expensive as well.

   Poor appearance

disappointing milk tea
Cries 2012-04-22

Coffee. Milk Tea. Toast. Noodles. Porridge - Canteen 1 ( Jalan Bahar )
my girlfriend wanted to try the version hall food instead of the normal school canteen food so we headed to ntu canteen 1 for a drink. She order some food while I only ordered a drink. I ordered an iced milk tea. apparently the lady that took my order was too busy talking to her colleague that she did not hear me order iced milk tea and went to ask her colleague to prepare the normal hot milk tea. when I corrected her, she was pretty rude and said why didn’t I tell her earlier, but she was the one who didn’t bother to listen in the first place, such bad service.

When she collected money from me, I was surprised to find out the cold milk tea cost $1.60 when the hot one cost only 80 cents. The cup is also not that much bigger, was kind of shocked that by adding ice, it cost 80 cents more. The tea was nothing spectacular too, tasted like the normal milk tea you get at the coffee shops. You cannot taste any tea leaves fragrance, the amount of milk added was not enough, and it was not sweet enough too. So disappointing.

Pin Wei Seafood ( Choa Chu Kang )
My mum went down to da bao dinner for the family. She da bao two medium size pineapple rice and one hot and sour soup. When she got home, she told us that the zi char stall were manned by different people.

The food was not as good as the previous owners. Just by looking at the colour of the pineapple rice, you can tell that they did not put effort to make it look like a pineapple rice dish. It simply looked like fried rice with pineapple cut very coarsely and thrown in. the rice did not even have any pineapple flavour. It was not tasty too, very disappointing.

Then the hot and sour soup, it was not even spicy or sour. The soup just tasted like those normal soup. Seafood was chopped so finely that you barely see it. My sister even found the tail of a prawn with no prawn in sight. They were TOO generous with their ginger that every mouth you take, you would fine a few strands. The whole family was so disappointed with the dinner.

Hong Kee Villa ( Clementi )
The queue for this stall chicken rice was really long so my girlfriend and I assume that the food is really good and worth queuing. After queuing for a good 15 mins, we finally got to order. We ordered their roasted chicken and char siew for two people. The portion was not really a lot. we were rather disappointed that the chicken was rather cold and the meat was a little hard. They gave us a large bowl of carrot raddish soup, it was luke warm but looked rather appetizing. However to our disappointment, the soup tasted rather bland and did not really have much sweetness. The only nice thing was the rice, it was fragrant and not too oily. Kind of disappointed to queue so long for such food.

POOR SERVICE by the MANAGER
Cries 2011-12-04

PastaMania ( Choa Chu Kang )
It was my most disappointing experience to pasta mania with my girlfriend. we both felt this branch was the worst of all the branches we had been too. what happened was, we ordered a pasta each and on top of our pasta, we ordered their special side combo which is the calamari and a drink. We made our payment with our drink and headed back to the table. A few minutes after we were seated, our pastas were served. we were so impressed by their promptness. We were not very hungry so we slowly ate our pasta while waiting for our calamari. When I finished my food, it had not arrived. We already waited 15 mins. Even my girlfriend finished her pasta and our side dish did not come. We thought it was rather crowded so we decided to wait a little longer. It was 45 mins since the start of our meal and the side dish was no where in sight. Even the next table who just arrived got their food and sides. I brought our receipt to the server and checked. They said our side is on our way.

My girlfriend checked with the female manager who happened to walked pass, she raised her voice at us and said it was frying now. She was so rude that many tables turned and looked at us. All giving this rude manager disapproving looks. I cannot believe that as a pasta mania manager, she could be so rude to her customers. We just told her we waited 45 mins and our sides did not come. DID SHE HAVE TO RAISE HER VOICE AT US? NO!

not even once did she apologise to us for letting us wait and that their back end had missed out our order.

Pasta mania should really look into this and give their staff the necessary training to treat their

customers better.

foodwise good, service BAD!

OldTown White Coffee ( Boon Lay )
I went to old town white coffee with my girlfriend cos she was craving for their kaya butter toast. This outlet is particularly small and the settings were quite limited during peak hours. We queued behind this couple and await to be seated. The staffs there including their manager are so rude. They chose to ignore us. They did not even bothered to tell us to hold on a while or something, just treated everyone in the queue as invisible. The group of girls behind us got so annoyed they gave up the idea to eat.

After sometimes, people started leaving the restaurant only did they bother to come to us and sit us down. NONE of their staff had smiles on their face. Come on, they are in the service line and all looked so sulky. Food came quite fast though, the flavours of my nasi lemak supreme and my girlfriend’s toast were there. my nasi lemak actually tasted good, rice were fragrant, rending chicken was very tender and fragrant. The sambal chilli was sweet and spicy. But the faces and attitudes of the staff really put us off.

I hope they do some retraining or hirer more cheerful staff. It does spoil the mood of the diners even before they stepped into the restaurant.

an upsetting dinner

Astons Express ( Choa Chu Kang )
My girlfriend and I could not decide what to have for dinner, so we chose the safest choice Astons for dinner. we ordered their hickory bbq chicken with corn on the cob and potato salad. Their chicken has always hit the spot and been cooked perfectly. However, when we cut the first slice, it was pinkish, kind of raw. I thought could be only that part was uncooked so I cut the other parts, it was still ok. Until when I reach the centre of the piece, it was pink too, raw like my first slice. I brought the plate to the counter to ask them to change the chicken for us as we barely eaten and most of it was uncooked. We waited a while and the manager served us back the plate. Apparently his cook cut of all the uncooked parts and added more sauce on our cooked part and served it back to us, it was so pathetic. When we ask the manager what was it, he said he don’t know and his staff as him to serve us. He said he will change us a new set but after giving them a second chance to make things right, we were no longer confident in their food. So we ask for a refund and left. I am so disappointed with this branch, don’t think I will ever come to this branch again.

my friends and i could not decide what to have for dinner so we headed to sakae sushi for some sushi! we waited quite long to be served to a table. when we got there, our computer was spoilt, so we had to always wave down the busy waitresses to take our order. everything was okay until my soft shell crab sushi came. the crab was cold and no longer crispy, i wondered how long they left it in the open. it did not taste fresh as well. so disappointed! and by the way, i think the place needs some renovations too!

Ji De Chi Dessert ( Boon Lay )
i brought my girlfriend to ji de chi for some dessert. We ordered the sesame shaved ice to share. we were very disappointed. The snow ice tasted very dry. the snow ice was not flavoured evenly, when we ate to the centre of the dessert. It got so dry, and the colour of the snow ice was much lighter than the outside one. We were so disappointed!
