Cove Stadium @ Sentosa Cove Smile Nov 13, 2014

Categories : American | Bars/Lounges | Live Sports Broadcast | Seafood | Steaks and Grills

Cove Stadium serves pub grub and beverages such as beers, liquors, wines and crafted cocktails. Sports fans will also get to catch the latest sports action screened here. You may want to note that the place is named in I-S Best Bars Guide 2014.

Cove Stadium Menu

Our party of 3 ordered individual mains but we did get the Grilled Baby Octopus Salad ($22) to share. The Mesclun was served cool and crisp and the Roma tomato slices were plump, sweet and juicy. The highlight of the salad was still the baby octopus - it was pleasantly chewy, without being rubbery and had an incredible unami taste with just a hint of char-grill flavor.

The main I ordered is a traditional American food, the Pulled Pork Burger ($28). According to the menu, the pulled pork was made by grilling the pork shoulder for 6 hours with a special Chipotle BBQ sauce. I'm no expert in cooking, but eating I can do... The result was smoky, juicy, and tender pulled pork. It was slightly spicy and I could spot chili seeds embedded within. To complete the meal, the burger was dished up with sides of truffle fries and Mesclun greens.

Lovely place for shabu-shabu Smile Jan 28, 2014

Categories : Japanese | Buffet | Sukiyaki/Shabu Shabu

The bunny was itching to fill my tummy with a good buffet but the queue at Kiseki was soooooooo long when the hubby and I dropped by (as it was a spontaneous decision, we didn't manage to make any reservation) after shopping in the vicinity of Orchard Central on a Saturday evening. The snaking queue was (almost) enough to rival McDonald's queue when there's a Hello Kitty offer. Hence, we decided to made a slight detour and visited Shabu Sai for our dinner, which was just next door to Kiseki.

I have to say that the soups are really good - they're rich and flavorful.

The meats were sliced very thinly to aid in the ease of cooking. They're fresh and have a good fat to muscle ratio so it's not too tough to chew yet still won't leave you with a mouthful of fat.

Overall, the bunny felt that the Shabu Sai buffet is pretty much worth it's price. The soups were tasty and the meats were fresh.

Loved the pasta Smile Jan 02, 2014

There were lots of pasta choices in Japanese style and I was really spoilt for choice... The curry rice looked pretty tempting on the menu as well! I eventually settled on the Miam Miam Spaghetti as it was one of their signature dishes.

The Miam Miam Spaghetti ($15.80) is a twist to the familiar Aglio Olio. The al dente pasta was tossed with butter and shoyu to give a rich, savory taste. It was accompanied with frankfurters, wilted baby spinach, juicy tomatoes quarters, bacon, crunchy Shimeji mushrooms and topped with toasted sesame seeds and a perfectly poached egg that still had a runny yolk. It's a tasty, well-balanced meal all in one!

Light as air Mille Crepe cake Smile Nov 29, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : American | Café | Desserts and Cakes

Cakes are obviously the star at Lady M. There are about 10 types of cakes available on the menu with prices of $7.50 - $10 a slice.

The Mille Crepe ($7.50/slice) takes the cake! (pun intended tongue) Lady M's Mille Crepe was light as air. Each crepe layer was literally as thin as paper. The pastry cream between each layer was fluffy and had sweetness that was just right. When eaten, the cake was almost melting in my mouth.

The Checkers Board Cake ($8/slice) was a pretty piece of artistry created by alternating dark cubes of chocolate and light vanilla sponge. On the tongue, the sponges had contrasting tastes that complement each other - rich and slightly bitter chocolate for the dark cubes; light and sweeter tasting vanilla cubes. Less cream and more chocolate ganache would have made me love the cake more.

Categories : Salads/ Acai Bowl

Think salad and the first thing that comes to mind (at least for this bunny) will be plain boring greens. Well, The Lawn was set up to change this particular perception. The bunny visited the 2nd outlet of the not-so-usual salad bar, located at AXA Tower, with the hubby, at owner Jonathan's invitation. Oh my, looking at the offerings, the bunny was really spoilt for choice!

The order process is fairly straightforward. Customers just have to mark on the order chit what they'll like to get and order at the counter that is nearest to the door. Then, simply pay at the cashier.

The decision part for ordering is gonna take a lot more work. Choose from salad or olive rice as the base and there's a mind-boggling 10 types of grills that goes with the base and a whopping 12 different kinds of dressing that you can pick. If you've picked the salad, you'll still need to choose 5 out of 26 toppings that goes into the salad bowl.

A quick chat with Jonathan revealed that the most popular grills in the house are (in no particular order) Ben's Beef Rub (+$5), Chicken Breast with Fresh Herbs and the Char-grilled Prawns with Garlic. Jonathan had also generously brought out all the grills for us to try.

On sampling, I had to agree with the crowd's selection of the Char-grilled Prawns with Garlic (+$4). The prawns had a really buttery fragrance to them. Texture wise, I could almost feel the prawns bouncing around my mouth as I chewed - they're really QQ.

Moving on to the dressings, there's a mixture of classic dressings such as apple cider vinaigrette and more "unique" ones like the maple peanut out of

the 12 types that are available. It took a while to taste all of them, but here's the verdict - my fav is the Red Island, which is a twist to the Thousand Island sauce that most of us would be familiar with by adding in tomato puree.

The concept of The Lawn is definitely giving the other salad bars a run for their money. I guess The Lawn has proven that eating healthy doesn't equate to boring and tasteless greens, tasty grills can be part of the menu too!
