Categories : Seafood | Zi Char

Being a passion Tze Char lover & after see the contest on OpenRice on this restaurant, I decided to try with my family on Sunday evening. There are quite a couple of Zi Char restaurants there and finally managed to find it after some searching. As we came early at 5.30pm, the restaurant was quite empty.

The Food

Cereal Prawns

When they served the Cereal Prawns first, I was surprised that there was egg yolk cooked with the prawns because this is the 1st time I ever eat combined with egg yolks. shocked
It was a perfect combination as the saltiness of the egg yolk complemented the prawn which made it less dry and more juicy.
The prawns were also fresh and the shell could be easily peeled off which made it easier to eat without using my hands !! lol

Sweet & Sour Pork

A traditional Jiangsu dish which can be found at every Tze Char restaurant. What I like about this sweet & sour pork is that it is very crispy, tender and when matched with sweetness from sugar and a salty sour taste from the ketchup and rice vinegar, give a sudden "adrenaline" boost to my brain !!

Seafood White Bee Hoon

The soft bee hoon is coated with thick and rich mouthwatering gravy and served with generous toppings of fried egg and seafood. The prawns and sotongs were very fresh and is not over-cooked. The Chef have controlled the heat well when cooked the seafood.

The Service
The service is good as we were ushered to an empty table promptly as soon as we step into the restaurant and the waitress take our orders with a cheerful and friendly smile

The Ambience
The place is fully air-conditioned with nice decors and surroundings.
Good for Family get-together dinner !!

The Price
The prices are quite low and affordable which range from $10 to $20 for meat dishes, $15 to $30 for cereal prawn and only $8 for the large size bee hoon !!

Overall
I will definitely come back again and certainly didn't mind travelling all the way from Ang Mo Kio to Sembawang to try all the different dishes.
It was a satisfied & most memorable "Tze Char" experience for me. Come down and try it for yourself too!! tongue

Watami feeling Smile Dec 25, 2012
Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

The Food
On Xmas eve, i decided to try Watami at ION orchard. I ordered the pork cutlet with egg sauce and mango snow mountain drink. I was surprised when the waitress came to our table with a mini-stove and a raw egg. After that, the waitress lighted up the stove and told me to open the egg and pour into the bowl with the pork cutlets. This is quite unique as this is my 1st time see pork cutlets mixed with egg on a stove. The pork cutlets are crispy and tender and the sauce is very nice and rice in taste.
I also liked the mango snow mountain drink as the mangoes are fresh and refreshing. Sweetness is also just nice!!

The Service
As I went on Xmas eve hence the queue is quite long but we were quickly ushered to our seat as soon as empty seats are available. The waitresses are friendly and cheerful while taking our orders.

The Ambience
The ambience is cosy & sofa seats are comfortable with acceptable noise level.

The Price
Reasonably priced at $11.80 for the pork cutlets and $5.80 for the mango snow mountain drink and price is actually cheaper compared to other Japanese restaurants.

Overall
I will definitely come back again and highly recommended to try this since it has a lot of variety to food and dessert to choose from.

Categories : American | Hotel | High Tea | Desserts and Cakes | Buffet

The Food
Being a chocolate lover, i decided to try the Fullerton Hotel chocolate buffet since is their signature. As shown in the picture, there are 4 cakes which are a must try (Coffee Chocolate Fudge, Fullerton Chocolate Cake, Manjari Lavender and Espresso Coffee Cake). When I tried the coffee chocolate fudge, the chocolate sponge is smooth and nice coffee fragrance. The cake that I enjoyed and liked the most is Fullerton Chocolate Cake which is a combination of rich chocolate ganache, crispy feuillantine, chocolate sponge, finished with a dark chocolate glaze. Is a must try for passion chocolate lovers !! shocked
Also not to be missed is the chocolate fountain with fresh cut fruits and marshmallows to dipped with it.

The Service
The service is very high class and the waitresses are friendly and with a smile when i requested for coffee

The Ambience
With the orchestra trio playing in the background, the ambience is relaxed and fantastic with nice decor and surroundings.

The Price
Reasonably priced at $38++ per adult to enjoy the wide variety and best unique chocolate

Overall
I will definitely come back again and highly recommended to try this for all chocolate lovers !!

High Class Feeling Smile Dec 23, 2012

Categories : European | Fusion | High Tea | Desserts and Cakes | Steaks and Grills

The Food
I ordered the Red eye ribs, lamb shank & tomato soup. The tomato soup is so rich & slurpppp !! The best tomato soup i ever tasted
My favourite is the Lamb Shank ($29) which is braised with tomato and red wine, accompanied by whipped potatoes and seasonal vegetables. The meat is very tender complemented by the red wine and tomato sauce.
Next is the rib eye steak, Steak Frites ($38) cooked in red wine sauce and came with french fries and seasonal vegetables. The meat was tender and flavorful in texture.

The Service
What really surprised me is the gadget as shown in the photo. Instead of raising hand for waitress attention, all I need is to press a button and they will promptly come to our table!!

The Ambience
What I enjoyed most about is the ambience and nice music playing in the background. With its distinctive design of chequer Italian marble flooring, golden chandeliers, and white walls with golden frames of red velvet, it exudes an old world charm of the good life with a twist of contemporary lifestyle living.

The Price
Even though the price is very expensive but is definitely worth it for the ambience, food and service.

Overall
I will definitely come back again and highly recommended to try !!

Yummy Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee Smile Dec 08, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Singaporean | Hawker Centre | Noodles

The Food
This stall at Golden Mile Food Centre is one of my favourite stalls that served noodles in dry version which I liked it very much compared to the wet version as the yellow mee and thin bee hoon have fully absorbed all the prawn essence stock !
Since the small plate is not enough for my stomach, I ordered the big plate Fried Hokkien mee served with fresh small prawns, sotong and thin slices of roast pork.
The noodles are springy even though is dry and is served with 2 chillies, sambal chilli and cut chilli padi.
The Price
Reasonably priced at $4.00 per plate (Extra Noodles)
Overall
I will definitely come back again and highly recommended to try this for all Hokkien Prawn Mee dry version!
