We all know how tedious it is to prepare these dishes for your own Reunion Dinners. Though Beaulieu House is a colonial house, it serves not only Western but Chinese cuisine as well. The best period to try their offerings is this coming Year of the Horse, where the Chef and team have prepared 8 menus consisting of their specialties for this CNY. It may not be the first restaurant that pops in your mind when you're looking for restaurants to hold your CNY reunion dinner - but it really should be. Known to foodies and critics as an authentic Chinese restaurant which serves lip-smacking duck dishes, you can get the chance to try this, as well as a plethora of CNY offerings, when you choose this place to welcome the year of the horse. Ordering won't be a hassle since the restaurant has prepared set menus for different group sizes. The first set is big enough for 4 people and is priced at $268 nett. After the traditional Yu Sheng to welcome the feast, you will be treated with 7 more dishes which are the Braised Superior Shark’s Fin with Fresh Crab Meat, Liquor-soaked Chicken, Homemade Sliced Fish, Jellyfish, Bran Dough; Braised Pork Knuckle with Brown Sauce, Braised Broccoli Shrimp, Scallop and Sea Cucumber in Sauce, Sweet & Sour Whole Fish, Sautéed Spinach with King Oyster Mushrooms, and Pork Dumplings. The second menu is for 6 people ($368nett) and has 10 dishes with additions such as its signature Roast Duck, Steam Sea Grouper in HK style, and the Stir Fried Superior Mixed Vegetable. The last option is big enough for 8 people and is only at $498nett. The big group can tuck in to 12 CNY specialties which, again, have add ons such as the very filling Stir Fresh Shrimp with Salted Egg Yolk Sauce and Braised Superior Abalone with Fresh Broccoli and Mushrooms. This CNY, Peony Jade presents diners with its creation of the “Eight Beauties of the Blossoming Spring”. Sounds so grand, right? Well, it is! Chef Lee Hee Min and his team have come up with items which put the Horse-Shaped Yu Sheng (with four Chinese characters 马上有钱) in the spotlight. Made with fresh salmon and tuna slices, these are then tossed together with other ingredients to help usher in luck and wealth for the year ahead. New items to watch out for are the meticulously-prepared Baked “Forward Prosperity” Horse Ingot – which you have to whack with a hammer to reveal the treasure inside; “Abundance Wealth” Imperial Abacus with Lobster and Abalones - shaped like the ancient calculator to signify endless stream of wealth; “Abounding Riches” Golden Suckling Pig Stuffed with Glutinous Rice - boneless suckling pig grilled to perfection; and “Reaping Good Fortune” Prosperity Truffle Roasted Chicken -an inventive dish where the roast chicken is enhanced with truffle oil. To welcome the Year of the Horse, Chinese Executive Chef Liu Ching Hai and his team give you a luxurious dining experience by giving you 10 specially crafted menus. These wouldn’t really be complete without Yu Sheng, so at this restaurant, they have three varieties: Prosperity Truffle Duck with Fresh Fruit Yu Sheng, Nutritious Bird’s Nest and Pear Yu Sheng, and the Prosperity Wild Mushroom Vegetarian Yu Sheng. You’re in for a treat this CNY for Summer Pavilion will present diners with opulent CNY lunch and reunion dinners. The perfect example is the Platinum Seven-Course Menu, which can feed 8 hungry mouths. The highlights are the Yu Sheng, which features Venus clam as the special ingredient; and the traditional Pen Cai, which is made of 12 luxurious ingredients.
