A 30-cent Extravaganza at The Clifford Pier
2014-05-28
When was the last time you paid 30 cents for a bowl of Teochew porridge? Folks of the older generation might date that back to the 1960s, while the younger lot of us probably wouldn’t remember paying anything less than $2 for a decent meal. Well great news! You’ll either get to relive or experience that very soon. Save the date – 3 June 2014 – Located at The Fullerton Bay Hotel, newly opened restaurant The Clifford Pier will be offering a good selection of Singaporean hawker favourites at 30 cents each exclusively to the first 81 guests who dine in from 11.30am to 2.30pm. Expect heritage dishes like rickshaw noodles, wok-fried turnip cake, ubin kueh pie tee, as well as well-loved glasses of bandung and chin chow. This special promotion coming next Tuesday commemorates the 81st anniversary of the restaurant's namesake, Clifford Pier, a significant landmark of Singapore’s maritime and trading roots where hawkers plied surrounding waters with a vibrant hawker centre housed nearby.
