dining in big groups
Eating is quite the social affair - so grab your mates and dine over a party of small plates at these restaurants with menus tailored for sharing. With cocktails, beers other snazzy drinks of course. Need recommendations? Here's a list of 5 must-try communal dining places in Singapore perfect for your next group gathering. &SONS
sons
Got a party of 8 or more? Grab your advantage to make reservations at &SONS and be whisked away into the tavern-like setting of Venice’s past with your friends. The menu comprises small plates of homemade pastas, cheese mix boards and salami prosciutto – all of which reflects the bold flavours of Italy and are great for sharing over drinks. We recommend the Venice Cup, the Italian version of Sangria, that’s good to share between four friends. And whatever you do, do not miss out on their signature Taglioni, Crab & Nduja. Good to know: Their newly launched lunch menu is stashed with affordably priced mains like Bucatini Carbonara with Homemade Guanciale and Wagyu Beef Cheek Ravioli – which are by the way, huge in portions and will only cost you between $8++ and $12++. Also, Happy hour bar promotions stand at $8++ per cocktail from 5pm to 8pm, while the Ciccheti & Cocktails promotion is available every Tuesday to Thursday from 6pm to 8pm and a complimentary Italian bar food buffet of salami, cheeses and crostini to go with.

The Halia at Raffles Hotel's new Communal Feast Menus ('Light' - $160/ 'Hearty' - $270) feel like a party for grown-ups, drawn with a whopping either 9 or 12 contemporary European dishes accented with Asian flourishes and meant to be shared by four. For the 'Hearty' menu, your communal dinner starts with the Chef’s Soup served in a pot (we had the soup of cauliflower – and loved it), followed by Goats’ Cheese Mouuse, served with heirloom tomatoes and drizzled with sweet notes of wild honey. Other highlights to come include the Oriental Pulled Duck with soba noodle and if you love their Chilli Crab Spaghettini, you’ll really enjoy the Chilli Crab Dip with toasted baguettes. On top of it all, the Twice-Cooked Spatchcock of Spring Chicken is the beast to feast on. The moist and juicy meat goes well with hints of spice from the cabbage slaw, paprika and mesquite. It ends with two desserts: a popping-candy-party-in-your-mouth Coconut Parfait, as well as a signature Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Set to dispel the popular notion that Argentinian cuisine serves nothing but meat, the diverse produce and multitude of cooking styles are best displayed at Bochinche through their wide array of small plates available. Highlights from the pre-selected Sharing Menu ($65) include Chef Diego Jacquet’s well-loved signatures such as Beef Chimichurri Burger, Provoleta with Almonds and Honey, Grilled Octopus with smoked leeks, purple potatoes and tuna mayo, as well as “Dulce de leche” Crème Brulee and banana split ice cream. For those who prefer having individual portions, the Classic Argentinia ($80) menu gets you a three-course set of starters, mains and desserts and recommended alcoholic selections to go with. Good to know: If you’re looking for a more vibrant take on brunch, their weekend brunch selections are the sure way to go, with the menu getting a brush up earlier this year.
