Last weekend I walked past Red Sun Bubble Tea shop in TPY and it was closed. The pricing board displayed outside the shop was also taken down. I suppose it was unsustainable due to high rental, stiff competition from Gong Cha and Koi, and low sale. When it first started about half a year ago, I knew it wouldn't last long. The shop space is too big for a newbie whose sole product is bubble tea. The shop is located at a very prominent corner, yet each time I walked pass Red Sun, there was hardly any queue, unlike the nearby Koi, which draws more crowd. It is hilarious for Red Sun to install an electronic queue number board, where it was hardly being used. I bought milk tea from them a couple of times and I quite like the taste of the tea and texture of the pearl. They always gave a packet of tissue along with purchase. Perhaps, they could have survived if they rented a smaller shop space with lower rent. Or maybe they are simply over confident that their tea would be a bigger hit than the strong boys like Koi and Gong Cha.
