Received news that the previous Hong Kong Street zi char has closed down because the food taste kinda bad, and in it's place is yet another Hong Kong Street zi char.So I came down and ordered a plate of Xin Zhou Mi Fen to try out the chef's skills. And to my amazement, the plate of Xin Zhou Mi Fen only cost $3.50! This is by far the cheapest I ever seen. This may be cheap, but there is no compromise on the ingredients used and the taste. I like how they fry the bee hoon such that is it very moist and not oily at the same time. One of the best Xin Zhou Mi Fen I tasted, do give this stall a try! continue reading

I frequent this coffeeshop very often, since it is located near my workplace, and much cooler than the nearby hawker centre. The problem with convenient locations is you have a few favourite stalls where you have your limited selected favourites. So, I ventured a break out of the routine and attempted Tze Char, ordering a simple dish - Sliced Fish Hor Fun.Everyone knows that ordering Tze Char means you are prepared to wait longer than any other stalls for your food to arrive. This stall proved me wrong! Within 1-2 minutes, my food's served! I thought to myself, ok, this is going to be sub-standard food since I got it so fast (probably nobody else is ordering!). Boy, I was so wrong! It's really delicious! A balance of both quantity + quality! Firstly, the gravy isn't too gooey, just the right texture (no slimey feel to it). Secondly, the hor fun is fried up to a "nearly burnt" stage, certain parts close to crisp - the RIGHT extent! (I hate to see "white sheets" in my hor fun!) Lastly, there's quite a fair bit of thinly sliced fish meat and vegetables. I know some people might prefer thicker slices of fish - more quantity, but this size is just right for me as I don't like chewing "chunks" of meat with hor fun. And when it comes to vegetables, any scrimping on this will be rated poorly by me! Vegetables are cheap!!!Due to the surprisingly good experience (coupled with the cooling weather), I will be trying out other food from this Tze Char stall. You'll hear from me again about this stall! Sliced Fish Hor Fun - $4 continue reading
