i was driving by and spotted a secret recipe. My mum and sister are fan of secret recipe cakes so I decided to pop by and grabbed some cakes back. I bought a slice of the chocolate banana and decided to try out their chocolate mint cake. I ate the chocolate mint cake, it was really good. The mint gave the cake was very cooling and refreshing taste. The chocolate sponge cake was so soft and moist. It was not to sweet. There was not a lot of cream added to the cake. It was in fact very light and chocolaty. they coated the top and side of the cake with dark chocolate, it made the cake taste bitter sweet. I dun like my cakes too sweet and this is just right. continue reading

You might be wondering what this is. It does look a huge curry puff but the ingredients and taste are not the same. This thing has got an interesting name, it is called Chicken Cornish. You can choose in between the original flavor or the spicy flavor. I have tried both, the level of spiciness for the spicy one is quite manageable. It has only a hint of spicy taste. The main ingredients for both flavours are carrot, potato and shredded chicken. The pastry for the skin was a little too thick hence it can be quite filling if eaten one of it by oneself. I would suggest to cut it into halve and share it, it is best to go with coffee. The taste of this Chicken Cornish is pleasantly nice. The taste is in between the curry puff and the chicken pie. It was an interesting experience. continue reading

I recently bought a birthday cake from secret recipe at Henry Park apartments. Because it was a last minute thing, we had to buy cakes off the shelf and there weren't many choices in that outlet because its a rather small and quiet place. We settled on the Cheeze Choc ($52) cake in the end. Its made up of 3 layers: chocolate cream followed by creamy cheese layer and supported by a generous layer of digestive biscuit base. The entire cake was covered in a thin layer of chocolate. Taste wise is was very nice if you eat small portions because Secret recipe was very generous in the amount of chocolate and cheese used. However, being so dense, it cannot be consumed in larger slices because it gets too much after a while. That said, we managed to keep the cake for 6 days in the fridge without spoiling. My only complaint was that they had only 1 size of cake and it was much too big for us to finish in the end. Perhaps Secret Recipe can consider having more sizes instead. continue reading

My sister and i are lovers for secret recipe cakes. My parents would always stop by and get us some of the cakes whenever they pass by any outlets on the way home. This time round we had chocolate chip walnut cake for dessert! It was yummy! One thing awesome about secret recipe cakes are the slices are really huge. I always feel satisfied whenever I finish the cakes! I love the spongy cakes topped with plenty of chocolate cream and walnuts. It is one of my recommended desserts! continue reading
