I was craving for some pancakes or breakfast sets, and it so happened that Double Spout Cafe has them; no, they do not have breakfasts like eggs benedict, but the few they offer were affordable and decent. I tried one of their all day breakfast set - comes with a drink (costs around $6.90 for all). It has 2 pieces of hash brown - fried till golden brown but too oily, pancakes - which were average and not too fluffy. But I liked the blueberry muffin most, soft and was warm when served. continue reading

So my dining companion had cravings for pancakes and we were at Kovan. Just nice this place had some at an unearthly hour (7pm). But the pancakes were really forgettable because they came warm and soggy. I ordered some mushroom rice thingy and found it too bland with very little mushroom sauce. We also ordered some sausages and they were too hard after probably being grilled for too long. The flavours didn't come out and the sausages really tasted like processed meat. continue reading

Tucked away from the noisy crowd, Double Spout Cafe is situated in a quiet corner in Heartland Mall. The cafe has a open roof concept where the dining facilities are only separated out by low walls where customers can have a feel enjoying the food in the mall itself, but not within a shop. This cafe serve fusion cuisine. From western delights like pasta, grilled fish to eastern dishes like hor fun, muifan etc... Most attractive of all is that they do not charge GST or service charge.A wide variety to choose from...Even daily promo... Here's mine, seafood spaghetti with tomato and herbs sauce. Pasta is slightly overcooked, but acceptable. The tangy sauce has a mild herbs taste with sweet and sour tomato bits. $8.90 for a portion with 3 medium prawns and mussels is considered worth the price.! of my colleague has a seafood aglio olio. Verdict given by her is : not too bad, taste normal like the usual aglio olio.Another of my colleague had a teriyaki chicken with garlic fried rice. Her verdict: NEVER eat it during lunch time or when you are super hungry. Reason: the waiting time is too long. The chef took more than 20 mins to serve and the reason given is: the chicken thigh is very big, more difficult to cook. But, the overall taste is good as the garlic rice is well fried and the chicken is well grilled. Here's the bill, a proof where gst and service charge were not charged to us...no wonder this place is popular with students as it's well affordable. Well, i'll be back for more. continue reading
