It seems that this is a popular stall for noodle. I wasn’t in good appetite and just ordered wanton noodle to take away. Wanton was OK, roasted char siew was so so and the noodle was the best in this humble bowl of food. It was springy without starchy texture, didn’t have the alkaline taste. If they could improve the wanton and char siew, it would be an above quality bowl of noodle.I understand that it is only a neighbourhood food stall, stall owner needs to control their costs. For such an ordinary food, it isn’t making big money, it has to look after the general public’s acceptance. Some people may think that paying too much for a bowl of wanton noodle isn’t worth it. Furthermore, stall owner can’t ask for high price. Therefore, it has to balance the quality and price. Well, I have no choice to accept the reality. continue reading

I was there on a Saturday. This was one of the few stalls opened then. I ordered the $2.50 serving of wanton noodle. It came with a few slices of char siew and 3 wantons in the soup. We tasted the familiar old school taste in the noodle. The char siew tasted average but the wantons were pretty good. The skin was a nice thin layer to wrap the tasting filling made up of minced meat and water chestnut. The noodle has got a nice springiness. It tasted not too bad though not the best that i had tried. continue reading

Got a crazy crave for wanton mee so when chanced upon this stall, i decided just try it. They are selling different type of noodle. The more interesting ones are pork ribs noodle, black pepper chicken noodle and stew beef noodle. I am quite a fan for stew beef noodle. I could not quite remember when was the last time i spotted such noodle in Singapore. Unlike Hong Kong, it is not so commonly available here. I was tempted to try it but decided against it as i would be having it in Hong Kong in less than a month's time. I made an order of wanton noodle at $2.50 and asked to sit down by the nice auntie. The wanton mee was delivered to my table in a little while. The serving was pretty generous, the good portion of noodle with quite a few slices of char siew and 3 tasty wantons in the soup. i enjoyed the springiness of the noodle, the sauce mix tasted rather simple but nice. It tasted just like those wanton mee i used to eat when i was a kid. Recommended. continue reading
