Shui Kuehs is one of my favourite breakfast dish for most of my morning breakfast. It is light and not to heavy for a simple breakfast. Understand from the stall owner that he will have his preparation for the kuehs on every morning before he can start his operation. The kuehs are really moist, soft and you almost feel like it melts in your mouth during every mouthful of it. The preserved diced carrot are stir fried with lots of minced garlic which make it really fragrant and the good point about their shui kuehs is their preserved dice carrot is not too salty and can be still tasty. The chilli sauce is just alright and the shui kuehs are always served very hot to you upon order. continue reading

This dish is somehow taste similar to rice cake. Just that on top of the white colour part its filled with fried onions. And It taste the best when eat it with chillies sauces. Its a tradional food so some people when they first to eat it, the taste to them might be weird but when they are used to eat. I'm sure they will be back to try the second times:> continue reading

Ooooh...I love chwee kueh a lot that sometimes I will buy more to store into the chiller and have it over the next few days. I spotted this stall couple of years ago and been buying from them eversince. The signboard says it all, authentic Tiong bahru Chwee Kueh and how true it is. The chye poh is the major player and cannot be too sweet and must be on the savoury side. Their's are very well stewed and can taste that there are sesame seeds in it too, the chilli goes very well with it too. continue reading

This stall sells a variety of nonya kuehs like ondeh ondeh, jiu cheng gao, ang ku kueh as well as shui kueh (or more commonly known as chee kway) and yam cake. I got the ondeh ondeh for myself. This is unlike the smaller ondeh ondehs which you can find in Bangawan Solo - those in ondeh ondeh have liquid gula melaka inside. This ondeh ondeh, in contrast, has coconut shreds enclosed inside the green outer skin. For people who do not like ondeh ondeh which bursts in your mouth, this would be a great substitute. The outer skin has just the right level of thickness and it goes well with the coconut shreds inside. continue reading
