Pasir Ris MRT Station is one of the stations with easy access to shopping malls. White Sands Shopping Centre is located directly in front of the station. In my opinion...this mall is the most convenient place for those with banking needs from POSB & OCBC. Both banks' outlet were located in the mall & they open daily till 7pm. There is also a library located in the mall (which is the main reason I hopped over to this district). When I'm hungry for food, Kopitiam food court is my usual choice. I've built up a list of favorite food here. There was a major renovation last year & most of the stalls here had removed their stall's name, same as this Western Food stall.I was tempted to order the "Value Meal for 2" as it was really, really value for money...2 mains, 2 soup, 2 garlic bread & 4 jelly - all for only $10.90!!!Alas! I'm alone today, so perhaps next time... I ordered the Fried Chicken ($5.90) & topped up $1 for a bowl of soup with garlic bread... The lady cut opened a fresh packet of frozen string-fries & a plastic bag of marinated chicken meat pieces from the fridge. She put both into the electric deep fryer (next to the serving counter). She also placed the garlic bread into the toaster at the food preparation counter. Then she started to scoop the side dishes onto a plate.Talk about ala-minute... My humble opinion:- the cream corn soup was flavorful & the corn kernels inside the were fresh, not canned...- the garlic bread (more like toast) were crispy, too...the herbal butter were fragrant with a hint of rosemary...nice...- the fries were done jut right, crispy & not oily (unlike other stalls). I didn't even need to add any salt...- the veggies in the coleslaw was crunchy & the mayo was not overpowering...- the bake beans was nice & not mushy...- there were 3 thick pieces of tomato & 2 pieces of cucumber (some stalls only gave 1 each)...- the bite-size fried chicken pieces was well marinated & not too salty. The meat were crispy outside, tender & juicy inside...mmm...very nice... I was rather surprised of their generosity to allow self-service on all types of sauces, mayo (or was it tartar) &...this surprised me most, a shaker can of dried herbs - basil leaves with a hint of rosemary! Verdict: I don't know about you...but any cook who took care to have a shaker of dried herbs...will definitely deserved a come-back from me to try their other dishes. PS: there's a 10% discount with the Kopitiam Card. continue reading

Had a craving for chicken chop that night and decided on having it from this stall in kopitiam. The chicken chop I ordered is not just the chicken, there is also the spaghetti and egg;DOf cause, they have the one with just the chicken chop and fries, like the standard ones that can be found elsewhere. The chicken chop was nice! The meat was tender and it was grilled nicely with the delicious fragrant taste.(:The spaghetti was yummy too!Even though I ordered it as take away, and left it for quite some time before eating it at home, the spaghetti was not too soft^^The flavouring and spices was added moderately to pan-fry with the spaghetti. The sunny side-up was beautifully done;D The dish may be a little too oily, but the taste and overall was perfectly delicious! The pricing wise are a little high for food sold in kopitiam, but once in a while a treat is worthwhile;D continue reading
