Introduction
Oyoge Takiyaki differs from the usual takiyaki in that their version is white, and is chewy to bite. Most people who eat it for the first time would have to say that they have never eaten anything like it. continue reading

Located just 2-3 minutes away from Chinatown mrt is Oyoge Taiyaki. I had passed by this place several times and noted that they didn't have a dining area. So I decided to pop by only during a weekend dinner time to try it.They have lots of flavours to try, it's basically a paste that is placed into a mochi that is in a shape of a fish. Instead of a pancake, they use a mochi. They also sell ice creams and croissant taiyaki. When I ordered my azuki (red bean) taiyaki, I was told to wait 10 minutes.I watched them bake my taiyaki and they didn't waste any time cooling it down, and handed it straight to me, piping hot. The staff gave the taiyaki to me with easily 4-5 baking paper and both of us had trouble holding it.It does look cute and it is a decent size. But you can see the azuki only fills up not more than 1/4 of the fish. The rest of the mochi was so chewy and sticky. It just stuck to the paper. The weather at 6pm, was still super hot and to eat this super hot mochi in this weather was bad.The azuki bean paste was too sweet for my liking and I ended up tossing half of it away and heading to the nearest convenience stall to grab a cold drink to cool off. continue reading
