A Christmas Dinner to Remember
2013-11-01
‘Tis the season to be jolly. What better way to celebrate it than by throwing your very own Christmas dinner. Sounds fun, right? However, it's not as easy as it seems. There are just so many things to take care of (food, venue, guest list, etc.) that even before you start planning it, you're already exhausted. By that time, you might be having second thoughts of having this get-together for your loved ones. They key to throwing a successful Christmas dinner is planning ahead of time. To make it easier for you (especially for first-time party planners), we’ve come up with a step-by-step guide to help you come up with a successful Christmas dinner. 1. Make a list and check it twice
In planning your Christmas dinner, the first thing you have to do is come up with your guest list. This is how you can really decide on the type party you are going to throw — whether it's just an intimate gathering with your close friends or a big bash for the whole neighborhood! When making the list, always remember to double check it just to make sure you don’t forget anyone! Once you're done, you can now work on the budget and the type of food you’re planning to serve. 2. Plan the Menu
The next most important thing in throwing a dinner is the menu. Always be sensitive of your guest’s preference. If you have a few friends who are vegetarians, it’s best that you prepare something they can eat. Once you’ve planned the menu, you can now decide if you want to hire a caterer or just be the one to cook the dishes. Just a friendly suggestion, it’s advisable to hire someone if you’re throwing a big bash! But if it’s just an intimate gathering, why not impress them with your cooking? 3. Send Them Invites
Of course, you have to let your guests know that you are having a party by sending them Christmas invitations. If you’ve planned ahead of time, you can send their invites through post. But if you’re pressed for time, an email will do. Always remember to put theme of the party on the invite so your guests will know what to expect! A few days before the big day, do send them a friendly email or an SMS message just to confirm their attendance. 4. Decorate Your House
How can you feel the Christmas season if your house is plain and boring? To feel the festive spirit, why not decorate your house with Christmas ornaments, candles, and other decorations to set the mood? 5. Prepare Your Own Drinks and Appetisers
If you’ve decided to hire a caterer, let them take care of the main dishes. For the appetisers and drinks, which will be served for the dinner proper, make your own. For some suggestions on appetisers, you can check our recipes page. As for the drinks, first decide if you want to serve alcoholic drinks or something more wholesome like the traditional Christmas eggnog. 6. Eat, Drink, and Be Merry!
Once everything has been set, you can now just sit back and relax and enjoy the party. After all, that is the whole purpose of your Christmas dinner party, right? Complement your Christmas dinner with some artisanal bakes The party doesn't stop when the food ends - head for supper!
