Last Saturday, OpenRice was privileged to host a group of OpenRicers and local bloggers for an exclusive Food Tasting session with a sumptuous spread of local favourites at the Singapore Favourite Food (SFF) 2013 Village! It was a sunny afternoon but the heat didn’t dampen the mood of our guests who got to indulge in some of the signature dishes from the 40 different hawkers present at this 10-day gastronomical event (12th July to 21st July).
OpenRice is the official online partner of SFF 2013.
OpenRice, being the Official Online Partner of the Singapore Favourite Food 2013, launched an online voting site for the public to vote for some their favourite local hawker stalls in the month of May and June. Based on voters' choice, the top 20 stalls were invited to be part of the 40 stalls at the SFF Village which attracted both locals and tourists to savour Singapore's specialties. With some of the best hawkers under one roof, it’s a celebratory affair of our local food culture!

This OpenRice Food Tasting session was different from the usual as OpenRicers and bloggers got to order the dishes according to their preference. They couldn’t resist trying some of the dishes from popular hawkers like Salted Egg Yolk Pork Ribs (top row, 1st photo) from Star Yong Kwang BBQ Seafood, Signature Rojak (bottom row, 2nd photo) from Apa Rojak, and Char Kway Teow (centre row, 1st photo) from Lao Fu Zi Fried Kway Teow.

Ultimately, the top pick for the afternoon was the Stingray Curry Puff (top row, 3rd photo) from East Coast BBQ Seafood which was crispy on the outside and flavourful within. The same stall also won the hearts of our OpenRicers and bloggers with the thick and generous serving of irresistible Sambal Stringray (bottom row, 1st photo)!
