What is Frozen Custard?
Compared to the traditional ice cream and gelato, frozen custards are lower in both calories and sugar, made with natural ingredients such as milk, cream and the inclusion of egg yolks, which acts as a natural stabilizer. This decade old “super-premium ice-cream” originates from the Midwest in U.S.A., home to at least 50 frozen custard shops. To ensure freshness of the frozen custard, Density serves just three flavours a day – the mainstay, Madagascan Vanilla Bean, a Chocolate-based flavour such as Rocher or Quadruple Chocolate, as well as a daily special. Some trendy and unique choices to look out for: Buttered Popcorn, Red Velvet and Matcha. Once you’ve decided on the flavour, choose to have it as a scoop ($4 for one, $7 for 2 and $9.50 for 3), sundae, concrete (from $9) or an affogato ($7.50) that consists of an espresso shot using freshly roasted coffee beans from local brand Two Degrees North. An extensive array of toppings like berries, cookie crumbs, nuts and cereals come at a cost of $1, while lashings of sauces come with a top-up of 50 cents.
