Valentine’s Day: The Dessert Guide
2014-02-04
We’ve all had our fair share of love-life interrogations over the Chinese New Year weekend and it’s not long before Valentine’s Day arrives. Aside from flowers, gifts and that romantic dinner, why not show your love and affection on this love-filled day with these sweet treats and takeaways cakeaways to accompany that heartfelt message for that special someone? Not everyone has the innate ability to create magic with butter, flour and sugar with the oven so thank goodness for shops like these.
The Audacious Cakery has a special edition heart shaped cake ($38) made of Yuzu fromage blanc mousse with a citrus centre. The top is embellished with delicate cherry blossoms – a symbol of feminine beauty, love and passion. And if you plan to get her flowers, good news! The cake comes with an elegant bouquet of flowers at $98. If cakes are too ‘mainstreamed’ for your taste, Tiong Bahru Bakery has tarts for your hearts. The pair of flavours includes Vanilla Raspberry Almond and Caramel Chocolate Hazelnut. The former would be perfect for anyone who adores the mash of raspberry jelly and vanilla mousse, while the latter will please anyone who can’t get enough of a mean dark chocolate ganache. But you know what, spare yourself the trouble of deciding and just get both – one for each of you!
