curry puff
Smile 2013-05-05

1A curry puffs are pretty famous and I always here about them so I decided to give them a try. The curry puffs and light and not too heavy with pastry that is not too thick and is fried to a perfect golden crisp. You have to eat these fresh so that they maintain their crispness. The crispy pastry contrasts with the potato curry filling which is flavorful and just spicy enough without being too overpowering

Mouth-Wateringly Delicious Curry Puffs
Smile 2013-04-05

My family and I went to Singapore for short vacay. Went to Takashimaya Food Hall and stumbled upon 1A Curry Puffs. Curry puffs were the most beautiful I have seen; look like golden seashells. Bought 3 Curry Puffs to try. Oh! My! It was heaven in a bite. The light buttery pastry and curried potatoes, diced chicken and egg brought tears to my eyes. Wasn't greasy at all. Never tasted anything so good. Our flight departed on Tues afternoon, we decided to buy a big Tupperware container to fill 25 delicious 1A Curry Puffs and bring it back to HK for our family to try. Definitely make a point to try other flavors and buy back more 1A Curry Puffs on our next trip to Singapore.lollollol

It's time for Puff!
Smile 2012-09-14

1st time eating this..
the outlook is so unique..with many layers of 'dough'..tongue
it's soft and crispy, just 1 bite of it you can taste the filling..lollol
unlike some other places curry puff is mainly the outer layer..sad
the filling is not too watery or dry, the potatoes are soft too!
and also with 1 egg, it really taste good..
would like to emphasize that even though it is fried stuff,
it's not too oily too.lollol
and it cost only $1.50! seriously, it is worth the price that u paid for..
do try it out k!tongue

nice puffs
Just OK 2012-08-23

The curry puffs here are great and could possibly be my 3rd favourite curry puffs in Singapore. It is not as good as
Tip Top and Old Chang Kee though. However, their flavours are unique and they have a sweet section and a savoury section. Everything is hot and maintained fresh, so it's not stale like it's been sitting on the shelves for long. Service is gruff and abrupt but quick. Nice flaky crust. Not too bad.

nice curry puff
Smile 2012-04-24

nice layers of pastry. it's actually quite light as the layers are thin. not like the old chang kee type of pastry which is which quite thick. standard curry puff price. the filling was nicely spiced and well balanced. i really liked it any prefer this pastry over the old chang kee type pastry. they also sell the deep fried new year cake which is great! very good curry puff. very light curry puff. nice variety of other fried foods. the batter is mostly tempura type batter, making it light and crispy.

Crispy Puffs
Smile 2012-04-23

I love 1 A crispy puffs! Especially their yam puff. For those who do not like yam, I would recommend this puff! I am not a yam lover as well but this puff made me fall in love with it. The crust is crisp and warm and the yam paste on the inside is sweet and does not have an overwhelming taste of yam. Perfect!

1A Curry Puffs
Just OK 2011-07-09

These hand made curry puffs from '1A' are one of the delightable snacks for the youngs and olds. There are always a few pastry chefs in the stall to make the dough for this yumy curry puffs. The curry fillings are more towards the slightly 'wet' versions and the curry is quite spicy as well. At only $1.30 each, it has also been charged reasonably. They are sell other puffs as well, such as yam puffs, sardine puffs, kaya puffs, etc. My verdict: 7/10

1A Crispy Puffs - Takashimaya
Just OK 2011-06-26

1A Crispy Puffs was quite a big hit a few years back when they first opened. I feel the standards back then were much better than the standards now. I bought the durian flavor which costs around $1.50 per curry puff. The durian paste is thick and the puff is crispy, but oily too. They have many other sweet and savory flavors too.

Bored of Curry Puff? Try Crispy Durian Puff!
Smile 2011-03-04

I can’t control my eyes looking at the crispy puffs that selling at the 1A Crispy Puffs stall. Tried the one in Marina square before but it’s closed down already. They sell Durian puffs (My favorite!), curry puffs (with/without egg), chili crab puff, black pepper chick puff and many more. The price is varying from $1.20 to $1.60.

I like the shape of the puff. I think the original curry puffs’ shape should look like this. I’ve made curry puff before in school. I know how hard to make the shape to look like this if using hand. There are reasons to make the layered skins for the puff, anyone knows? tongue
