Billy Bombers, one of the higher end western dining places do serves some really awesome ice creams We were having a friends gathering and was looking for some place to chill after our lunch. We were at The Cathay so we dropped by Billy Bombers for some of their magnificent ice cream! I ordered a banana split sundae which was really good. Would love to go Billy Bombers for more ice cream more often, if I have the money.. since it's rather pricey here continue reading

I was particularly curious about Billy Bombers because I see it everywhere and yet I didn't manage to try it before. Check out Billy Bombers's menu - there are so many delicious-looking menu items to choose from. Seafood Paradise Italiano Spaghetti ($13.90++): I really enjoyed this dish as the tomato-based sauce was very rich and sweet. The spaghetti was also cooked al dente and had a really good bite to it, tangling with juicy mussels, squid rings, prawns and tiny slices of dory. The only drawback was that the ingredients was not generous enough. There is also the choice of fettucine available.Texas Crispy Chicken ($18.90): The chicken meat was tender and juicy on the inside, and crispy on the outside. From the first bite, you can tell that the oil used tasted fresh - and hence this is one of the rare fried chicken which I found was acceptable. The thick-cut fries was also fluffy on the inside. The honey mustard sauce complements the fries pretty well too, but I don't think it is necessary as the fries are adequate on their own. The salad was pretty awful due to its strange lukewarm temperature. The portion is also too small for its price.Overall, I find that the food here is quite good but cannot really be justified by the prices. The service here is much better than restaurants of similar pricing though, with attentive servers from the moment of entry until I stepped out. continue reading

Billy Bombers has been around since my early teenage years, and thought of trying a little time travel through food. This place is a chic american feel restaurant with friendly servers. We ordered Ole Fish and Fries , Texas Crispy Chicken. The chicken was very crispy and juicy goes well with the honey mustard dippingThe fried battered dory fish is crispy on the outside soft on the insideColeslaw was well mixed and made. Fresh tasting and it’s not sour.My vote goes specially to their chunky crispy fries! continue reading

I go to Billy Bombers usually for one thing only…the Malt milkshakes!Sure the burgers are good, and so the nachos which come with a generous amount of minced beef, salsa, cheese and jalapenos, but the Malt milkshakes are out of this world!I’ve actually never ordered the normal milkshakes but I’m sure they taste good just with no malt taste, which makes all the difference. Thick and creamy, you just can’t help but watch the server pour the malt from the metal tumbler into your milkshake glass…and the malt added gives it an savoury-like taste to the drink. It’s like a meal on its own! continue reading

Honestly, you should expect the direction my review will go right after you look at the title of this review. For detailed review, do visit: http://chiamhuiy.blogspot.com/2013/01/billy-bombers-review.htmlBilly bombers adopts the 1950s American Styled Cuisine which mainly serves burgers, hotdogs and pizzas. They do have spaghetti and roast chicken as well. There were eight of us and because there was no 8 vacant seats together, we chose to wait for roughly 15mins outside the restaurant. Some of them were late too, so it doesn't matter. But if you are coming in a group, better make a reservation! In my opinion, most of the food ordered were really awful and they are definitely not worth the price. What I ordered was even worse, it looks like KFC. Their price actually has a huge range too. It really depends on what you ordered. Some food are not worth the price, you'll know why later. Can't remember the exact name of this, but it goes around that line. This is actually the best dish among what we've ordered, surprisingly! And it's the cheapest as well! Okay you probably don't think an hotdog bun should cost such an amount, but it's really the best among the others and the price is apparently one of the lowest in their menu already. Looks pretty decent as well, comes with mash potato as a side dish and some vegetables as garnishing. This half chicken looks juicy as well, I thought this is quite a decent dish for $14.90. The worst part is here. I don't know is it my unluckiness or am I just not good at ordering, I ordered this: The most expensive dish compared to the two mentioned above, yet the most atrocious dish.Tell me what is the difference between this and KFC. I was really in shock to see my food and the others. I mean, this doesn't justify its price, not at all. The salad that comes with it was badly prepared. The three pieces of chicken are so pathetically tiny, smaller than that of KFC's actually. And come on, compared to Betty's Roast Chicken, I am paying more for 3 fried chicken. What the? The meat itself was indeed juicy, but the amount of meat presented in this dish is way too little. In other words, I am paying too much for this dish. No other sauce except mustard sauce, which was not appetizing at all. The ambience: To be fair, the place is quiet and relaxing, a good place for people to come and have some catch ups with friends. But definitely not a good dining place for lunch/dinner. I heard that their smoothies and milkshakes are good ($6.90), perhaps can give it a try next time. Experience and priceverall, I totally didn't enjoy myself at Billy's and I probably will not go back again. Some of the food are way too overpriced. The waitresses seem to be polite and her service was acceptable. Tell me about your billy bombers experience!Hui Yan- http://chiamhuiy.blogspot.sg continue reading
