My all-time favourite stall with their branch at Kovan food centre, first time try their char keow teow, it is so nice with a bit of chilli, with the cockles, fish cake, and sausages, for the price of $2.50, it is cheap and good, the char keow teow got the wok taste, i love it so much with reasonable amount of sweet sauce added. their oyster omelette and carrot cake are cheap and good too. avoid peak hours to wait long. continue reading

why yes, i'm at bedok 85 and not eating those minced meatball noodles. the queue was just horrendous. not that you can see it. just look at the orders written down, pages and pages. and i had to wait 45 minutes for my order, if i placed it. just around the corner, this massive business caught my attention with their efficient services.dishing out plates and plates and meeting their orders with at least 6 people on stir fry duty and another 6 more taking orders.let's indulge a little shall we.this was delightfully sinful. a black sweet soysauce stir fried plate of flat rice noodles and a smattering of lard within. The noodles were given that umami breath of the wok. Fried with barely cooked beansprouts, i loved the fishcake, eggs and of course, bloody cockles that came in my $3 plate of friend kway teow.best dinner choice after a crazy day out in bedok reservoir and no, i didn't miss the bcm at all. continue reading

As mentioned in my previous posts, I visited the newly renovated 85 Fengshan Food Centre on a Saturday night at 10pm. While waiting for our Bak Chor Mee from Xing Ji Rou Cuo Mian 兴记肉脞面, we ordered the the BBQ Grilled Chicken Wings from Sin Bedok North BBQ Chicken Wings 勿洛北烤鸡翅 and also the Oyster Omelette from Bedok North 85 Fried Oyster 勿洛北85蚝煎.Bedok North 85 Fried Oyster 勿洛北85蚝煎 occupies two stall unit in the food centre. Ordered the Oyster Omelette and was told that it would be served to our table in 10 minutes time. However, after waiting for 20 minutes, there was still no sign of our omelette. I went back and check was told that I would need to wait for another 5 minutes!! The freshly cooked Oyster Omelette was decently executed. It had the right portion of starch and egg mixed together. Fried over (what I suspect) high heat, each piece was crispy on the outside while soft and moist on the inside. Although there were only 4 pieces of oyster, these oysters were fresh, plump and juicy! Moreover, the chilli complements this real well. How I wish, there's such a similar hawker centre in the North that serves such food (Soupy Bak Chor Mee, BBQ Chicken Wings and Oyster Omelette). There would be no need for me to store anymore cup noodles at home. Oh man.. how I envy those living in the East. I can't imagine how happy I would be if I stay at near Bedok 85... continue reading

I love fried oyster with lotsa egg and this is one of those kind. The eggs were lightly salted and my friend found it quite salty but i find it alright. It was also not too oily. However there wasn't much oyster, only a few pieces. But i think it is quite reasonably at $3. I also didnt have to wait too long for my order as i guess it wasn't dinnertime when i went to the stall. Overall i enjoyed it and will patronise again! continue reading

The fried oyster that day was disappointing!):The fried oyster appeared to be darker/blacker than usual and seems to be more dried. It is in small pieces and it tastes really dried and hard.It is not so bad when it is just served but when few minutes passed the plate of fried oyster became hard.Pretty obvious they overcooked it and some parts had the burned taste. The taste is lost and it is not as fragrant and delicious. I could also hardly taste the egg. The positive side is that the oyster is fresh and juicy. Hopefully it will be better the next time we try it. Service and pricing wise is satisfactory.(: continue reading
