Was craving for dim sum and visited ah yat at mohd sultan. They always have this 40% off lunch deal for dine in. Ordered the egg tart. They are mini bite size. Pastry is soft and fluffy. The egg filling is very fragrant. The tart was simply yummy.Next we had the liu sha bao, custard bun. This was not as good as the one I tried at The Grandstand branch where they had coffee flavored bun. This one was a bit plain to me though. Then we had a plate of carrot cake. This dish was disappointing. It was very oily and very salty. We had it returned and they cancelled it from our order. good service recovery I must say. Last we had roasted duck bun. This was a very interesting dish. There was crunchy lettuce, sweet mango and the very flavourful duck meat. I thought the combination was pretty amazing. continue reading

I was walking around with my parents, we came across ah yat seafood and decided to give it a try. We ordered their dim sum, they were having forty percent discount. I must say their char siew cheong fan is really good, the char siew bits in the chee cheong fan is not too salty and did not have any fats in it. The gravy was a little sweetish and savory. The rice sheet is very chewy and smooth. I strongly recommend the deep fried banana ball with red bean paste. The banana really goes well with the red bean paste. The red bean paste is a little on the sweet side. The banana was not too sweet. I find this dish makes a really great dessert. continue reading

This piece of deep fried fish from Ah Yat may look very simple and unattractive, but if you have your first bite of it, you will definitely be able to appreciate how good this simple piece of fish taste like. The fish meat is very soft and juicy and it is not overly coated with too much flour, which make the fish slight crispy and not too overly wrapped up with to much crust around it. The sweet and sour sauce could have given us abit more as I think the portion served to us is insufficient to cover this piece of fish. continue reading

I went with my girlfriend’s family to ah yat seafood restaurant for dim sum breakfast. Apparently on weekends they have forty percent discount on their dim sum which makes it very reasonable. My girlfriend’s parents ordered quite a number of dishes but two of the dishes that left an impression on me was the deep fried seafood roll and the steam chicken claw with home made sauce. The seafood roll was wrapped around with fried noodles. The outer coating was very crispy. The seafood inside is very fresh and the meat is very sweet. The chicken claw is very tender and easy to eat. I must say the homemade sauce is really good. it is not too salty. continue reading

Been buying a lot of deals online recently and came across the Ah Yat’s deal that Alldealsasia featured. I spent $35 in total for an 8 course meal. http://www.alldealsasia.com/deals/ah-yat-seafood-restaurant-8-course-mealThe first dish was Sichuan Chicken which is actually a starter and therefore the small portion.Usually, the soup in the set course dinner that Chinese Restaurant offers are just pure shark’s fin soup, but this restaurant actually combine pumpkin soup with lobster and shark’s fin. It’s something new for me. Call me a pumpkin but I have never tried pumpkin soup before. Really love the combination and the lingering taste that it leaves in your mouth that sets you craving for more. Salted egg prawn is another must eat dish when you patronize the restaurant. The egg yolk which is rich and fragrant complements the freshness of the prawn.Pan fried fillet was not as oily as I expected. A tasty yet light fish dish. Next was Vegetables in abalone sauce. Well, I am not a big fan of vegetables. So, you will have to try it yourself for the review!Ee Fu Noodles taste much nicer than it looks. This is my favourite dish out of all. The desserts were almond cream with bird nest and some nut cookies. Didn’t try the cookies as I was too full.Although the portion looks small, the 8 course dinner caused me to hit the gym the very next day! continue reading
