Good and affordable western dishes!
Smile 2013-04-29

I only tried two dishes here and it was the crayfish pasta and the sausage and rosti dish. Both were done perfectly. The crayfish pasta was in a tomato based sauce that had just the right amount of sweetness and tartness to it. The crayfish was nicely done with the meat being tender with just the right amount of bite. The rosti crispy and a golden brown was a nice base for the juicy garlic sausage. This place must definitely be revisited.

Rosti with Chicken Sausages
Smile 2013-02-26

This Ambush outlet is located in the basement of Takashimaya.

   Rosti with Chicken Sausages

Ordered the rosti with chicken sausage. As can be seen from the photo, a generous portion of sausages was served. In comparison, the rosti was insufficient. You basically finish the rosti and there would still be sausages left. The sausages oozed with cheese when cut and goes well with the sausage.

Smoked Duck with Spaghetti dinner
Smile 2013-02-26

 Receipt

I just had Smoked Duck with Spaghetti for dinner at the outlet located at Takashimaya. I ordered the basic set that comes with a mushroom soup of the day and an ice tea for an additional $2.80 added to my meal. The smoked duck with spaghetti cost $11.80. After adding GST, it became $14.60.

The outlet was quite packed and full-house. The smoked duck had a slight salty taste to it and was slightly chewy and soft. However the smoked duck were thinly sliced and there were only 5 slices. I think it will be better if they can increase the quantity and thickness of the smoked duck.

The spaghetti was also quite salty as I was quite thirsty after my meal. However I like the way the spaghetti was cooked and I felt it's tasty enough. The mushroom soup tasted average.

If given another chance, I would like to try their other variety, eg Salmon Paella or Scallop with Fish roe spaghetti. With the meal costing $14.60 in total, I won't strongly recommend you to try out this dish unless you specifically like smoked duck only and is less inclined to eat their other dishes.

Rosti
Smile 2013-02-07

Located at the basement of Takashimaya in a buzzling corner somewhere, lies an open-concept sausage and pasta "bar" that serves European cuisine in a casual manner.

Here's what I tried.

Rosti with Chicken Chicken Sausages. $11.20

Generous double portion of chicken sausages was served with rosti. The sausages oozed liquid cheese when its cut. Love the buttery taste in the potatoes and it was definitely well seasoned. But I find the rosti portion was insufficient - It was just a thin layer. sad (NOT ENOUGH!!!) Something which I find special about this rosti is that they serve not only sour cream, but also SAUERKRAUT! Love preserved cabbage and it blends really well when eaten with the potatoes. <3

No GST and service charge is added in the bill! All net prices. smile They also have a substantial list of beer they serve on the menu.

Nice and Affordable Fast Food
Smile 2012-11-12

Ordered a German Sausage with rossti for my lunch. Initially i was wondering will it really fit my stomach but it proved that it does. The two sausages were grilled to almost perfection. The sausages were quite big and there were really juicy. The rossti were kind of plain, which i guess it is to compliment the sausage. It was crispy on the outside and it really goes well with the sausages.

Comfort food at Ambush
Just OK 2012-09-22

   OK

Heard a lot about Ambush and decided to give it a try for lunch this afternoon. Had the bockwurst sausage with cranberry rice - think it was about $12+, which was pretty reasonable (actually everything on their menu's reasonably priced).

Portion was fine, but it would've been better with a little more rice. Sausages were cooked really well and I liked the mellow flavours of the rice, thanks to the touch of cranberry bits. Simple, nothing fancy or OTT. Perfect dish if you're craving for comfort food.

very filling indeed
Smile 2012-06-22

i went to ambush for dinner. They serve really cool food. I ordered their rosti with sausage. Initially I thought I will not be full by the portion. However once I downed my two sausages and rosti. I was so full. The sausages are really solid, very huge in size. It is very juicy inside. The meat they used are really fresh that’s why their sausages taste so good. the rosti is pretty good too, it is rather light and goes absolutely well with the sausages.

Apple Pies
Smile 2012-05-06

The apple pies here are quite big slice and the amount of applie cubes in it is really generous. The crust is full of the fragrant from the butter and cheese which make the crust really fragrant and it is also quite crunchy on the outside as well. The apple fillings is cooked in thick sweet apple gravy which really blend in well with the crispy crust. However the price is abit too high and may not sould reasonable to have it for dessert especially it is almost near to ten dollars for a slice of it. Fortunately the cosy environment here may make you forget the high price you have paid for their apple pie.

Pasta for the Economic
Smile 2012-04-18

The staff was pleasant and patient in taking our order even though we took a while to decide..smile

Decided to get a set combo for main course + soup & main course + dessert + drink

The soup was cream of clam chowder over garlic bread. Though the clam chowder isn't great to write home about, it was thick and creamy and had clams inside. Thankfully it wasn't overly salty as there seems to be so many ways that clam chowder could be made wrong.

The Seafood Combo was chosen with the sauce that gave a tint of BBQ.

Clam with Thai Basil
I was surprised to hear that the sauce could be chosen for the Clam pasta as I had assumed that normally restaurants only serve Clam Pasta with White Wine

I would say that the combos that can be made here is surprising, especially since you can play around with the sauces and the choice of pasta.

Dessert was Apple Pie
Presentation was decent but there were nuts inside the apple pie. Would have helped my acceptance of the dish if they had mentioned it earlier. The crust is decent but not raving, maybe they had put in too much flour? But the pie did feel "home-made" which is always a bonus mad

Definitely loved that Ambush managed to have the pasta come out al dente lol
None of that overcooked pasta!
Personally would choose to eat here over Pastamania any day. tongue

Staff was considerate: gave us a plate to dispose of our clam shells and provided complimentary water too.

ambush quick bite
Smile 2012-03-24

Happened to chance upon ambush and my friend and I made an impromptu decision to come in for a quick bite. My friend recommended we order this - fries with meatballs. The meatballs are delish! It is bouncy and so juicy. I love the burst of flavour in my mouth as I bite into it. I think this is on par with the ones at ikea or even better. The fries are just the normal type but I appreciate that it was still warm and hence it is not soggy, though I had no complains about soggy fries. It is a nice, enjoyable quick bite!

Ambush in Taka
Smile 2012-03-23

Had dinner here with my boyfriend the other day after shopping.

Anyway, ambience wise is very food court like on long wooden tables and benches (not the best seating, but maybe for space saving). We sit next to the big window in which we could see the chefs cooking the food.

The food was actually surprisingly really delicious. I always have very low expectations of western food in Singapore, and even lower when it comes to fusion food. We had aglio olio with fried chicken the aglio olio (you have a choice of about 4 different pastas) was super flavorful and super delicious. I asked for less spice and it turned out very well. They had sprinkled shredded seaweed on the top which turned out very nice! The chicken on the top was more impressive, perfectly fried, warm and crispy.

The service was surprisingly wonderful! The waiters and waitresses were very polite and attentive. They served us ice water and refilled it when we had asked for more.

All in all I would definitely come back again!

Ambush pasta
Smile 2011-09-21

Went with a group of friend to ambush pasta at taka basement, its at the open food kiosk area, directly to the back, at a corner. Ambush is a affordable place where you get to eat nice pasta. The quantity and quality of the food is not bad. serving size is filling and taste great. Ordered the scallop spaghetti white sauce pasta and top up to a set which comes with soup of the day and a toast garlic bread. i love the mushroom soup and the garlic bread. it taste awesome. the pasta was quite good too. will go back to try other pasta.
