The cosy interior of Da Paolo
Situated away from the hustle and bustle of Chinatown, Da Paolo Ristorante lies in a charming three-storey shop house and offers three different dining spaces for patrons to choose from. The first level is an open concept with a welcoming vibe, while the second level has a breezy, contemporary ambience; the third level boasts an intimate setting, ideal for couples and small gatherings.
Fritturina di Pesce
For a satisfying starter, try the Fritturina di Pesce ($25) – a potpourri of lightly-floured, deep-fried seafood such as squid, shrimp, snapper and vegetables like eggplant, zucchini and red bell pepper, with a side of salad drizzled generously with homemade pesto.
Crema di Crostacei
If you’d like to opt for something lighter, order the Crema di Crostacei ($22). Laced with a touch of cognac, this creamy concoction makes for a luxurious yet comforting starter, and the intense aroma of lobster, langoustine and crab-infused stock is bound to make your mouth water.
Depending on whether you’re a pasta lover, a fish fan, or a true carnivore at heart, you can select the Tagliatelle Bellavista ($36), the Branzino all’Acquapazza ($40), or the Agnello dell’Aquila ($38).
Tagliatelle Bellavista
Tagliatelle Bellavista offers the winning combination of al dente fresh tagliatelle (flat pasta) paired perfectly with a lobster-infused olive oil-based sauce with an added twist of the tang of cherry tomatoes. There are other great pasta choices as well, so be spoilt for choice as you run through the menu.
Branzino all’Acquapazza
For a rustic home-style specialty, choose Branzino all’Acquapazza. This dish consists of a whole deboned fresh sea bass baked to perfection in foil with celery, cherry tomatoes and herbs, creating a scrumptious yet delicate broth.
Agnello dell’Aquila
Meat-lovers would be delighted to be introduced to the Agnello dell’Aquila dish: tender, succulent roasted pieces of lamb cutlets marinated in exquisite Galliano liquor and rosemary, served with baked potatoes and juicy tomatoes stuffed with ricotta cheese.
Deal with that sweet tooth of yours the right way at Da Paolo. Check out the selection of oh-so-good Gelati e Sorbetti ($8 per scoop) – daily homemade ice cream and sorbets which change frequently (to keep you coming back for more of course).
Delize ai Tre Cioccolati
Alternatively, if you’re a chocolate freak, you wouldn’t want to miss out on the Delize ai Tre Cioccolati ($18). Indulge in its three layers of ‘sinful heaven’, comprising three different mousses made from Venezuelan dark chocolate, Piedmont Gianduja hazelnut milk chocolate and Madagascar vanilla white chocolate with Sambuca caramel bits.
Buon appetito!
