Dining with Sunsets at Cafe Del Mar
2010-10-14
Café del Mar sits on the hottest beach in Sentosa, Singapore. Without a doubt, it is the biggest Café del Mar (café by the beach) in the world with an offering of air-conditioned indoor space, alfresco bay, a lavish beach area with daybeds and cabanas, and a priceless panoramic view of sea and sunsets.
Need a dip in the kidney shaped pool or the exclusive jacuzzis? Be prepared to drift away under the moonlight or marvel at the glittering pool with fibre-optics and interchanging colours of LED lights. Don't forget to enjoy a refreshing cocktail while having your soak on a hot sunny day.
Besides partying, indulgence in food is what Café Del Mar all about too. Dining amidst the lush interior served together with an extensive menu of Spanish cuisine and beverages is what you can look forward to for pampering your senses. If you love pasta with a creamy base, you’ll love Penne Carbonara. ($16) – with bacon, a mix of eggs, cheese and olive oil. The cheese will literally ooze out from each mouthful of this pasta.
If you are a seafood lover, try their Linguine Pescatora ($20) - served with shellfish and a sauce base of plums, tomatoes, garlic, olive oil and basil leaves.
The Succulent Lamb Chops ($32) dish is also one of our favourites. Prime lamb racks are marinated and grilled to perfection according to you preferred doneness. The dish is served with gratin potatoes, ratatouille and mint gravy. An interesting attempt with the choices of ingredients. It is tender, tasteful and succulent and you will definitely wish for more after your first piece!
Another thumb up for the mains is Baked Pacific Dory ($24), one of the chef’s specialty. Texture of the dory fish is baked to perfection infused with garlic butter. The dish is served with vegetable legume, confit cheery tomatoes and mash wasabi. Excite your taste buds as the combination of dory, wasabi and mash potatoes will keep you linger with curiosity before making sense out of the delicacy.
If you’re just looking for a relaxing night out with some desserts or finger food, try the Chef’s recommendation - Chocolate Fondue ($20) and Griottine Tiramisu ($12). Finish your dining experience with some sugar rush and sweetness on your tongue. :)
