Sabroso: The New Spanish Darling of Holland Village
2010-10-26
Hooray for Holland V regulars because the opening of Sabroso Tapas Wine Bar last October means we have another dining option that opens till late to choose from.
Sabroso stands for tasty, delicious and flavorful in Spanish. The authenticity of each dish is affirmed by their worldly Chef, Alfred G, who has almost 30 years of working experience in the food industry, with two decades of it aboard in places like Italy and Spain.
Sabroso Tapas Wine Bar seem set to revolutionize the Spanish dining experience in Singapore with its exclusive array of wines formerly reserved for international hotels of the highest standards and their Tapas with a simplistic modern twist, a perfect combination that will complement the laid back setting in Holland Village.
From Left: Pan Broiled Scallops, Croquetas, Bacon Wrapped Dates The Canadian Pan Broiled scallops drenched in shallot butter and cava sparkling white wine cream sauce, and topped with coriander and spring onions will fill your mouth with flavor. Of course, what would a Spanish Tapas Wine Bar be without some Croquetas, the popular bar snack stuffed with a mixture of jamón (dark red ham the pride of Spain) and bechamel and then deep fried with bread crumbs? The croquettes were done just right because you can feel the creaminess of the bechamel which was fried and chilled correctly. TOCINO ENVUELTO ACEITUNAS (Bacon Wrapped Dates), the party-pleaser dish came in 5 bite-sized pieces with the bacon nicely roasted, thinly sliced and wrapped around Iranian dates and then glazed with honey and lime zest, giving it that sweet and salty taste with a hint of sourness.
From Left: Sabroso Meatballs, BBQ Ribs
Their signature Sabroso meatballs dish was a crowd favorite among the food critics who were that evening and a definite must-try. The minced meatballs were from Australia and served with smoked caciolla cream sauce. Dare I say, a worthy contender for Ikea's Swedish Meatballs? The Australian BBQ pork ribs soaked in milk was finger licking good and well marinated in Spanish seasoning!
So the next time you're heading down to Holland V and looking to get some simple Tapas to go with a fine selection of wine, do head down to Sabroso Tapas Wine Bar. Meanwhile, check out their grand opening where they had Flamenco dancers, guitars and drums to capture the Spanish spirit! Still not convinced? Well, don't just listen to us for crying out loud, hear it from fellow OpenRicers just like yourselves. Fabulouso! More Spanish dishes that will tempt you Check out these Bars and lounges to chill at
