24-hour supper places singapore
We’ve all been there before – we’re up late at night, working, texting, or catching up on our favourite TV series when the hunger pangs kick in. It’s 2am, and you could try and ignore your hunger and head to bed… or you could check out any of these 24-hour supper places that we’ve curated for you. 1. Fei Fei Wanton Mee
fei fei wanton mee
Ask anyone in Singapore for the best wanton mee stall and chances are that they’ll direct you to Fei Fei. This place is doing so well that they have two stall within walking distance of each other – that should give you an idea of how much demand they’re catering for. Die-hard fans love this place for its soft and springy noodles, as well as the home-made chilli, which is a force to be reckoned with. The wantons are a tad on the small side, but the star(s) of the dish are really the noodles and the chilli anyway. 72 Joo Chiat Place, Singapore 427789 Image: Openrice user hungrybird 2. Tim Ho Wan
tim ho wan
Dim sum lovers, rejoice! Tim Ho Wan joins Swee Choon to offer you dim sum in the wee hours with its recently launched 24-hour branch at Lavender Aperia. In conjunction with this, we’re also seeing a new breakfast menu and supper menu from the restaurant. The breakfast menu (available from 6am to 10am) comprises of existing best-sellers, as well as new dishes such as the Fried Glutinous Rice. The supper menu includes many different varieties of congees – Abalone with Chicken and Mushroom, Lobster with Prawn and Scallop, Beef Brisket and Tendon Noodles and many more. Chopsticks at the ready, everyone! Lavender Aperia, 12 Kallang Avenue #01-01/02/03, Singapore 339511 Image: Tim Ho Wan Facebook Page dim sum shootout 3. Niqqi's The Cheese Prata Shop
niqqi's the cheese prata shop
Located near National University of Singapore, this place is a godsend to students wanting to satisfy their cravings late at night, or in the wee hours of the morning. Service is notoriously slow, so consider this your due warning – it isn’t the best place to visit if you’re about to go catatonic with hunger and need food pronto. With regards to the food, we have it on good authority that the standard of their prata isn’t always consistent – there have been complaints of cold pratas being served – so skip this dish, and instead try the Maggie Goreng and Kambing Soup. 18 Clementi Road, Singapore 129747 Image: Openrice user Zeec 4. 333 Bak Kut Teh
333 bak kut teh
333 Bak Kut Teh is one of the many bak kut teh stalls at Balestier. It’s located nearby Founder’s, which seems to always be plagued (or blessed, depending on which perspective you see it from) with snaking queues. As 333 typically has a significantly shorter wait time, many hungry souls choose instead to give this place a try. Two thumbs up for the bak kut teh here – the soup is peppery, but not overwhelmingly so, and the pork ribs are tender and flavourful. Those with big appetites will also be glad to find that the portions here are fairly generous, considering the price that you pay. 325 Balestier Road, Singapore 329765 Image: Openrice user Laxanne 5. AB & ABC Restaurant
ab & abc restaurant
AB & ABC Restaurant is located at the junction of Joo Chiat Road and Duku Road – keep your eyes peeled, because there’s no signboard and you might miss it out if you’re not careful! Business is always good here, because they have a reputation for serving up delicious food. They do a plain prata well, accompanied with a thick and intense curry that hits all the right spots if you’re looking for spice and flavour. Another of AB & ABC’s signatures is its Banana Honey Prata, and this is a spectacular dish – crispy prata served piping hot, with indulgently sweet honey and semi-caramelized bananas. 365 Joo Chiat Road, Singapore 427610 Image: camemberu.com 6. Rasapura Masters
jia le roasted food
Singaporeans typically steer clear of this food court located at MBS, as it serves pricier food compared to other food courts – prices can go up to $14 for a single dish. However, if you’re in the vicinity with a group of friends undecided on what to eat, this might just be your best bet. Rasapura Masters has a good range of offerings to satisfy whatever cravings you have. Special mentions goes to the Filipino food at Gerry’s Grill, the Hong Kong style roasted meats from Jia Le Roasted Food , and of course, the Claypot Frog Porridge from A1 Porridge. suriya curry house
Suriya Curry House is a much raved about eatery, an approximate 10 – 15 minute’s walk away from Serangoon MRT Station. The prata and curry come recommended, but their must-try dish is definitely the Roti John. Generosity seems to be the name of the game here – the roti john comes packed with a good serving of eggs, onions and mutton (or chicken). Other plus points include the bread, which is soft and light, and the cooking method – the roti john is perfectly toasted, slightly crispy, and light years ahead of other stalls’ greasy, deep-fried renditions. 536A Upper Serangoon Road, Singapore 534552 Image: Openrice user ieatandeat 8. Meng’s Kitchen
meng's kitchen
This stall, located at the same row where Udders and Salted Caramel are, serves a wide variety of noodles including Fishball Noodles, Abalone Noodles, and Laksa, but the frontrunner is without a doubt the Bak Chor Mee. Diners love the noodles for its soft and springy texture, as well as the sauce which contains the ideal mix of chilli and vinegar. The other ingredients are equally outstanding as well – the pork is tender, fishballs are springy, and all portions are very generous in size. It’s no wonder that diners can’t get enough of this place! 246B Upper Thomson Road, Singapore 574370 Image: Openrice user wensdelight 9. Thasevi Restaurant
thasevi restaurant
Thasevi Restaurant has been around for at least 50 years, and given that it enjoys quite a bit of fame, prices are slightly more expensive and waiting times are slightly longer (make that significantly longer if you’re there around supper time). Thasevi is located along Jalan Kayu, and is pretty inaccessible unless you’re driving. The prata and curry at this restaurant are decent, but not something you would rank amongst the top. Do note that the curry isn’t particularly spicy, so it will better suit those looking for a milder flavour rather than full-out intense heat. 237-239 Jalan Kayu, Singapore 799461 Image: Openrice user Dixie 10. Thohirah Restaurant
thohirah restaurant
Thohirah Restaurant is a similar type establishment to Thasevi, located within walking distance. Portions are big, and they serve a wide variety of dishes as well. The general consensus seems to be that Thohirah has slightly better service than Thasevi, whilst opinions regarding which restaurant serves up a better prata are divided. If you do pay a visit to Thohirah’s, make it a point to try their Masala Thosai, which is one of their better dishes. The thosai is crispy, fluffy, light and stuffed full of spiced potatoes amongst other ingredients. It also comes with four different sauces on the side. 258 Jalan Kayu, Singapore 799487 Image: Openrice user CherlynLoves Written by Cherie Foo See Also: Find the best restaurants in Singapore Check out the eateries nearby you
