Astons Express

The group of us wanted to have western meals, and what better choice than to have it at Astons Express? It serves western style food like grilled chicken, dory and steaks without GST and service charge. I ordered the Prime Sirloin steak and went for the corn and potato wedges for my sides. The Prime Sirloin costs $13.50. The sirloin is cooked quite throughly but still maintaining its tenderness in that the steak is not too tough to bite. I love it with the sauce as the sauce is not too salty and helps to bring out the flavour even more. The corn is rather hard to eat but otherwise, it is quite sweet. The wedges are a delight as well as it is still warm and crispy.

The Food
I ordered Lamb Loin Chops which comes with 2 side dishes and onion rings and was grilled well done with the perfect temperature. The thick loin slabs tasted soft, tender, juicy and juicy and the onion rings also very crispy and not so oily.

Reasonably priced at $14.90 per set

Aston meal is really big in size,i like the chicken more than the fish.
The teriyaki sauce is not bad,it is abit like the one from japnaese restaurant.
The chicken is tender and flavourful.
But it is abit oily when i tear the skin.
AS it is tasty,i eat all the skin.
The side of mashed potato is nice.The mushroom sauce on it is really nice.And the mashed potato is very soft and smooth too.

I like the cold side dish too.Coleslaw.
It is very fresh and cold,so it taste nice.

It just cost $6.5 for these 3 bigs things,so it is really worth.

The place where I can always count on when wanting to eat pure western and protein and not spending too much money at my school's cafe; just a run off away is Astons Express.

With $6.5 nett, I ordered the chicken teriyaki sauce with side dishes of pasta salad and baked potato.

The good part: you know when its freshly served as it took about 10 full minutes before my order came out in a very non-peak hour ( I was the only one ) and waiting for them to cook it out and boil the potato.

The potato was given whole, very hot and soft as the butter melted down. The pasta was just cooked al dente but i expected more vegetables, this was just pasta with some light cream sauce.

Chicken was at the right portion between juicy and hard for its fibers, and sweetness for the teriyaki. Of course, it was sort of destroyed with the tomato ketchup and chilli.

The bad thing: You NEED PATIENCE FOR THE BEST FOOD TO COME, bang for yer buck.

Astons! Its always my favourite choice when it comes top western food. Ordered the teriyaki chicken set this time, with onion rings and fries. also ordered a salad to add some greens to my lunch. It was good. The chicken was very nicely grilled and the sauce was heavenly! So addictive that I actually wanted to ask for more sauce. The onion rings was also nicely fried to ive it a golden brown colour and the squid was so smooth and sweet.

Astons is a restaurant that almost any Singaporean has patronized before.

Affordable and great-tasting Western food.

I ordered the crispy fried fish with the garden veggies and mashed potatoes. I didn't go for the assorted range of grilled chicken as I wanted a change.

The crispy fried fish was really good! A huge generous piece that was really crispy and tasty. The mashed potatoes melted in my mouth and the garden veggies were fresh and crunchy.

You have heard about astons, about it's good price and value for money. And you have heard about the usual long queue outside Astons@cathay.

However, I do not recommend Astons express, unless budget is your main concern. The quality is highly comprised by the location of the restaurant. Though cheaper than those outlet in shopping malls, the non-aircon environment and the lower quality of food makes it not worth the money.

My friend ordered the teriyaki chicken but the sauce taste more like BBQ sauce than teriyaki. I wanted pasta, but the waiter said it doesnt have. I then wanted fries and mash potato as side dish, but again it doesnt have.

Disappointment..

Aston Express is the place to get affordable and yummy western food in the heartlands. With a wide range of western delights that appeal to both the young and old, it's no wonder that there are always queues at the restaurant outlets. It is also very crowded at the heartland hawker outlets.

A person who likes to eat chicken, I decided to go for fish, just for a change during lunch one day. The baked fish seemed interesting so I ordered that with coleslaw (cold side) and raisin rice (Hot side). The serving was just nice and the sauce that accompanied the fish was superb. All for a reasonable price below $10, this place really deserved a thumbs-up!
