Stew beef
Smile 2013-05-12

Love the tender, well cooked stew beef here that os served with a delightfully flavoured mash potato and steamed vegetables. The stew beef is cooked in an aromatic sauce that contains five spice and the dish is really delicious. The sauce of the beef goes great with the mashed potatoes which are also good on their own.Portion size is good and can be shared among people.

Scallops
Just OK 2012-04-22

A very high-end restaurant which is good for business lunch and also for a romantic meal with your loved one. Tried one of their starter dish which is seared Hokkaido scallops with crunchy vegetables, citrus and anise foam. The anise foam is quite sour and disappears after the first bite of your scallops. The scallops used are quite big and juicy. The side ingredients used in this dish is just alright. This dish is served really cold but I think would be better for them to prepare it as a hotter version.

Steak with Mashed Potato
Just OK 2012-04-16

Have went to this fine dining place with my hubby for our Wedding Anniversary on last month. Heard from our friends that they have very nice steak, so we decided to check it out. Within our expectation, the steak was thick and juicy. Eventhough I have tried the medium and near to well done version, it is not tough and taste was fantastic. The mashed potato is very fine and smooth, just like tasting 'very fine fresh cream'. However with some red wines, simple dessert and appetizier, it costs us more than a hundred dollars per person for this fine dining experience. The service here is just alright and not very attentive when filling up of iced water.

Au petit salut
Just OK 2011-10-30
The set lunch is very good value at $22+ you can get an Executive set lunch for $38+,but the choice isn’t as varied. For the regular set lunch, there are about 5 or 6 choices each for starter, main and dessert
had the pork rillette to start off,The rillette was pretty much like a pate, quite fatty but very good when eaten with some baguette.
Grilled tuna which was slightly disappointing, in the sense that even though we were asked if we wanted the tuna done rare and we said yes, it still arrived almost cooked through except a tiny pink centre. It was quite tasty with the tomato-based sauce, though, but it would’ve been so much better if it had been less cooked.
Good enough food though I expected better from the place’s reputation. Service was surprisingly friendly

Au Petit Salut

Au Petit Salut is a great place for dinner. It is very cosy and dimly lit, making it very comfortable to be there. We ordered the French Onion Soup. The soup was good! Thick and very flavourful! The onion taste was not too strong but it was still good. The escargots were fresh, extremely well cooked! Really enjoyed it a lot! It was so tasty that it we finished it very quickly.

Smile 2011-08-30
i was so glad my friends suggested we come here for our gathering. the escargots here are to die for! just as i was thinking of where to go try escargots, i chanced upon it on the menu at petit salut. the escargots are cooked perfectly, it is juicy and chewy, but not overcooked. i love the way the escargots are cooked, it is mouth watering. many of my friends also ordered escargots here and all agreed that this is one of the nicest we tasted!

Another visit to Au Petit Salut with hubby
Just OK 2011-07-06 (Related Review)

This time i tried the mains - Oven baked Atlantic sea bass with fennel and orange salad, Niçoise vinaigrette. Followed by their Degustation plate of desserts which consists of
Warm chocolate cake, profiterole, Crème Brulée and strawberry sorbet.

For the seabass it's too salty for me actually. But the fish is fresh though. Highlight would be the dessert! Simply yummy as it's a miniature combination of all their signature desserts! A perfect combination of sweet and sour dessert to end the meal as you won't feel too full after that! at least it applies to me ! haha.

Company dinner
Just OK 2011-06-21
In celebration of good business, we went to Au Petit Salut french restaurant for the company celebration dinner.

for Entree, i've tried the Seared scallops with cauliflower purée, green apples and spice emulsion. The scallops are very fresh and perfectly cooked! The spice emulsion and green apple enhance the flavour and brings out the best of the scallop i feel. smile

As for the main, i've chosen Crispy French duck leg confit, sautéed potatoes, bacon,
mixed greens and walnut dressing. I've tried other french restaurant duck leg confit before. So i must say this may not be the best duck leg confit afterall. To me, it's not crispy enough and not toothsome enough.

I would still have a second visit to try out other dishes though...

Service is good smile keep it up!

Brunch at Au Petit Salut
Smile 2010-09-21
Tucked away in a quiet corner of Dempsey Road, Au Petit Salut was surrounded by lush greenery and one could almost feel at peace with nature when he or she walks around the area. The quaint colonial bungalows, the wide roads, the sounds of nothing except the breeze and the brids chirping greeted me and my date as we went for our brunch appointment there.

We chose the set menu for brunch, since neither of us could decide on what to have. The escargots were oven baked and very fresh, without any hint of saltiness or staleness whatsoever. For mains, my red wine braised beef cheeks did not disappoint- the tenderness of the beef cheeks brought out the subtle taste of the red wine, and my date was impressed with his oven baked Norwegian mackerel.

The highlight however, was the desserts. The creme brulee, which we both ordered, was so good that we finished every last drop!

Affordable set lunch
Just OK 2010-07-31
Tuna tartare with basil and olive oil, rocket salad and crouton: A very safe and simple appetiser that served its purpose well enough.

Oven baked Norwegian mackerel with melted capsicum and onions, olives and basil: You know I’ll never say “no” to oily fish! Smooth and tender, this had no fishy scent at all. Nothing “wow” but good enough to satisfy.

Crème brulée infused with fresh Madagascar vanilla beans: This won the most votes for the best dessert out of the 4 we tried. Spotted lots of vanilla specks which got me excited! Smooth texture and not too eggy custard with a nicely burnt sugar top.

Great value for set lunches!
Smile 2010-07-25
Au Petit Salut is located just before the Botanical Gardens, perched on a raised plot of land that overlooks Holland Road as it turns towards Orchard. As part of the Dempsey area, Au Petit Salut is a proper French fine dining restaurant, however on weekends they are relaxed enough that you can wear smart casual to eat there. In fact you can even wear casual attire there however you can only eat at the al fresco areas.

The best part about Au Petit Salut are their incredible value for money set lunches. I ordered escargot for starters, it was very tasty with all the garlic herbs. The main was a beef onglet with french cut fries. The onglet was amazingy tender with delicious because of the pan-sear. Finally my dessert was a strawberry shortcake, really icing on the cake for this set meal.

This is definitely a place to come if you want to impress your date yet not blow your wallet!
